Following the teaser trailer and poster, Disney•Pixar has released this new image from Brave, opening in 3D and 2D theaters on June 22, 2012.

Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida (Kelly Macdonald) is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida's quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).

Good. I was starting to get worried they'd just fall back on sequels for a few more years.

Woah, it doesn't look anything like a PIXAR movie. It feels more like... Rapunzel and How to Train Your Dragon. I'm not judging the movie by any means. I'm just saying it doesn't look like anything Pixar has ever done before.

Yeah, they're trying to catch up to DreamWorks which has stepped up its game recently.

Pixar has always been ahead of dreamworks. Let me knOw when dreamworks gets nominated for best picture then we might have something to talk about

I just don't understand how there are bears in this Scottish setting. There are no bears in Scotland. Unless you count the gay ones maybe?

Hmm.... the teaser and the artwork so far had me really, really excited. That trailer is, well, underwhelming. It does seem like they are dipping a little to Dreamworks' level.

I think this will be held up to How to Train your Dragon. We'll have to see which is the better film. Brave might be the text for whether or not Pixar can maintain its quality and originality after its recent obsession with sequels.

Ian's right, somethign was lost between the teaser and the trailer. I guess it doesn't help that its tough to say what its going to be about.

Meant to post about this months ago, but I saw an early screening of this near Portland, OR in mid-October. Basically, it's good but not up to par with the Pixar norm. It's good though, don't get me wrong. I appreciate that the trailers haven't given the story away yet. It feels more Disney than Pixar. Lot's of montages. But its cute and funny and has heart to it. Ask away if you have questions.

How does it stand/rate with other Pixar FIlms. like Top 10 where it would stand I mean

Not THAT high up. Above the "Cars" films. Probably "A Bug's Life" too. It's a solid movie though. Just doesn't feel like Pixar. It fits in with the Disney Animation films of the 90's in tone.

I like how they still aren't revealing what the film is about. After seeing it, I was worried they would give too much away in the trailers but they're doing well so far. This is their most difficult film to market by far.

To me this reminds me of The Incredibles. I really wasn't sure what to make of The Incredibles before I saw it but it turned out to be great.

Wait till you see the movie...the carpet looks EXACTLY like the drapes.

On a serious note, the version of the film I saw didn't have the Pizza Planet truck. Either that or me and my friends didn't notice it. I assume it will be a drawing on a cave wall or something like that if they include it.

Im getting more excited for this film the more I hear about it.

It's kinda the opposite for me, for some reason. I suppose the trailer just didn't excite me very much. As I've mentioned before, it still looks like something made by Dreamworks.

It may not live up to the lofty standards of the Pixar brand, but Brave offers young audiences and fairy tale fans a rousing, funny fantasy adventure with a distaff twist -- and surprising depth.
