Epic. Building a rig for this right now. Can't wait, but I do still need to finish Oblivion!

Far and away my most anticipated game of the year...and possibly of all time.

I really iked Oblivion, also never finished it through, and this does look amazing but it will be on the back burner as I don't want to get into an RPG knowing Mass Effect 3 is out in January.
Most anticipated game of all time has to be Resident Evil 2 imo.

I didn't finish Oblivion either, I got to what I believe was the final battle or near to it when you have to defend Sean Bean's character but I only had one save just before it began and I couldn't survive so I just gave up after half a dozen goes and sold it...

I did so many side quests and story lines first that by the time I actually did the main story, after having leveled up so much, it was pretty easy. Once exiting out into the world, I just started randomly exploring rather than head for the next part of the main quest. It made more sense to me as well. If I was going to be this hero, I was going to be a badass unstoppable one. =P
Oblivion is one of the few games (open world) that I completed all it's quest content, including the expansion. I'm very much looking forward to Skyrim, even though it will undoubtedly be one of several games I'll be alternating between.

Too many good games indeed.
Oh, and I LOVE the score for this game. Morrowind had the best music of any video game ever IMO, but I do love the renditions from Oblivion and Skyrim.

Mass Effect 3 is out in January.
It's not out till March.
This game looks like Oblivion on steroids! E3's release showed players who loved Oblivion that they are going to love this one.

The review embargo has been lifted. I'm wary of most online and print video game publications but the 3 that I do trust have awarded this game a 9, 9 and a 10.
I'll be unwrapping it on my birthday in 5 days time so once that comes around I guess I'll be seeing you guys some time in 2012!

This is probably the smartest thing anyone could do in a video game like this. I do the same thing in the Fallout games too. You know the missions will only get harder as you proceed, so why not be at your best beforehand? I'll be doing the same thing with Skyrim.

they released details on their side quest generator, you will literally never reach the end of the amount of side quests you can do, although i find it funny carch was building a new pc for this game, when it is really quite lax on graphical standards.
i'll borrow it off my buddy in about a year when he gets tired of it.

You'll never reach the end of the sidequests you can do? That sounds like the game is going to descent into a type of repetition never seen before.
I'm not going to buy this until it drops in price... and I have more time. I sank a lot of time into Oblivion back when I had the free time to do so. Now, I know I'd get really sucked into the game and I definitely don't have the time for a game like this right now.

and its an elder scrolls repetition is the name of the game, from combat on up to hording things. its why i never really got into oblivion.
So the game is out, and I love it. Every time I sit down to play, I find myself playing for 3-4 hours. It's an addiction.
Also, mammoths are bastards in this game. Unless you get lucky.

Killed 4 dragons thus far and barely played five main quests. Everything is side missions only. I'm already level 15. Also collected a butt load of apparel and armor from across Skyrim, AND purchased my home in Whiterun. So far I'm having a lot of fun with this. The graphics are amazing and the creatures are insane. Mammoths, Giants and Dragons? Hard as **** to kill, but sooooo worth it, lol.

Jeremy Soule deserves his last name. No amount of "news" reports or elderly movie reviewers are going to tell me that video games aren't art. When a game can bring tears to the eyes of thousands of gamers without cheap emotional ploys and stir up genuine emotions with nothing more than a beautiful song playing in the middle of a fictional town... It doesn't get more powerful than that.
^ Proof that not all random YouTube comments are by the dregs of humanity.
That comment was below this song:

I must say that the music in this game is astonishing, there are so many perfectly pitched pieces. As a whole it puts many "epic" film scores to shame.

And my personal favourite largely due to the part from 1:00-1:30:

I met Jeremy Soule when I was younger, before he became famous. I would say he was friends with my uncle, but I think he just knew him.

I'm finally diving back into Skyrim full-on. I've spent so much time playin Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, Battlefield 3 and MW3 that I've completely forgot that I haven't even finish the game's main quest yet. I played the civil war side quests right through, and I've finished all of the college quests, so now I think I'll work on the other side quests I have left in my que and then focus on the main quests again. It's been too long and this game is amazing. I need to stop with the MW3 bs...

So I just killed my 20th Dragon. Sooooo much fun to fight on hard. Not unlike Giants too.

I have been planning on playing thru this game again very soon. I just downloaded some mods, like a cleaner UI, and the deadly dragon mods. It did have some good reviews on it, and while I love fighting dragons, they do get a bit too easy late game, so I'm hoping the mod helps.

I came across sooooo many awesome mods for this game, only to be let down since I own it on 360 and not PC, lol.

Best mods I saw were the star wars ones, like how you can change the largest moon into the Death Star, or you can add Lightsabers to your weapons inventory... ****ing lightsabers in a Skyrim game, dammit!!!

It's one of the biggest reasons The Elder Scrolls has always been best on PC. I have too many mods to count. Haven't tried anything over the top yet like those Star Wars add-ons. Rather just lots of mods that improve the game play, graphics, add weapons, armor, etc. It's like getting constant free DLC that sometimes greatly improve the game every week (or every day sometimes).
Tolkien

I know, I mean even if I had to pay for them, some mods for better graphics, weapons, armor, etc. would be a great addition to the game. Microsoft sucks that way. They let it slide on their PCs but not their consoles... bastards.

some group of hardcore lotr fans decided to make a mod for oblivion and were working on it for like 8 years, went from oblivion to skyrim, 8 years on, warner bros finally orders a cease and desist order, effectively shutting down the whole project. was gonna be a middle earth mmorpg or something.

Wow, eight years of work gone. Geez that probably would've looked EPIC.
