Justice League Movie to Stand on Its Own

Details on a Justice League feature film have been rapidly developing ever since the story broke yesterday that such a project was back on Warner Bros.' schedule. Now, HeyUGuys.co.uk has a further update from Superman director Zack Snyder, explaining that the ensemble film will not bear a link to either his project or to the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises.
選t doesn稚 [connect]," Snyder told the site on the red carpet for the London premiere of Sucker Punch, "Like what Chris Nolan is doing and what I知 doing with 'Superman', what they値l do with 'Justice League' will be it痴 own thing with its own Batman and own Superman. We値l be over here with our movie and they値l kinda get to do it twice, which is kind of cool."
One key project that seems to be temporarily left out of the equation is this summer's Green Lantern which still could, foreseeably, tie-in to the nascent Justice League film. Likewise, with recent word that WB will reboot the Batman franchise following the release of The Dark Knight Rises, it's still possible that the team picture could build up through cross-released franchise entries, a la Marvel Studios' lead-in to The Avengers.

So many things worried me about that article I don't know where to begin.
First off it seems like the only reason DC/WB are making this film is because of Marvel doing Avengers.
Not including Nolan/Snyder projects is going to really hurt the film overall cause I think a lot of people like Nolans adaptation of Batman/bale. I get why there doing but I don't think a lot of people will accept it.

If WB wants to do something along the lines of Marvel's AVENGERS then they have to go ahead and plan on it being seperate from Nolan's movies. Both Nolan and Bale have said it's highly unlikely they'll do a 4th movie, so the WB execs have to think about a new actor for Batman. The deal with Cavill is probably for him to star in several SUPERMAN movies, not co-star in a JUSTICE LEAGUE type movie.
This could possibly lead to them having several franchises with the same characters but different actors going on at the same time. That would be interesting to see.

WB clearly doesn't like to do simple, so I just can't be assed with their entire movie department.
I pray they just use Wonder Woman from the TV series and/or Tom Welling, but they'll probably create a brand new one of each. What a joke.

Why use the WW from the new series? We haven't seen anything but a few pics from it to guage it's quality. And I doubt that Welling will want to take the role on now that he wasn't picked for the current big screen project.

It's called synergy, and it's something WB suck at. The movie department should have gotten involved in the casting of the TV series, and future proofed the decision.

I really see no reason for the TV and Movie divisions to work together. There can be both versions produced at the same time. They do not have to go hand in hand. Just as there are different versions of a character in a regular comic or a special limited edition miniseries, there can be a Tv show and a big screen movie of the same character with different actors in the roles.

The only way a JLA film would work is if they stick to the basics.I dont want realism....tired of it.I'd like to see the original big six presented in a larger than life format much like they appear in the comics. Yeah the realism angle worked for Batman because he is a comic hero that could easily be a real person in real life but the rest of JLA's cast do not work in the real world. Does anyone else think it would be cool if they used extensive CGI to turn real actors into comic book characters? Example.....(this is just an example)take an actor who could play Superman he has the look and the acting chops but he isnt 6'3" with a square jaw and huge. If they used CGI to make him look like the Superman from the comics. Same as Batman.....Bruce Wayne is like 6'3" and built like a brick ****house.I'd like to see the Blue and Grey costume with long ears and cape.Wonder Woman.....not hating on her but she does not work in a realistic way at all."What about the 70's TV show?". Well the 70's was just full of cheese weren't they? Basically what I'm saying is make it an over the top, comic book to life extravaganza.
Lol I know alot of you just read this and were like "WTF?" thats what cartoons are for......but think about it before you flame or troll me......thanks guys!

I don't see this movie panning out right now, give it a good 5 years and it might work
Bale probably wouldn't be a apart of it because Nolan wouldnt direct it, Ryan Reynolds bombed as Green Lantern, Wonder Woman doesn't have a movie yet but that might be a good thing , and we don't yet how Zach Snyders Superman will do.
IDK its a risky move to pull off, WB hasn't had the success of Marvel so it might not be such a good idea.

Not to mention the new Superman is set in a world with out any other super heroes. Much like Nolans vision of Batman movies with Batman being the only superhero in those movies.

Exactly. They can't just spring Justice League on us. They have to plan it and build up to it early on.

DC films can compete with Marvel films by putting out good films not trying to do a superhero teamup film. Just put out good movies and not garbage flicks and DC will be alright.

Your right about most of the JLA characters not being very realistic but I don't think the answer is full CGI either. I'd still go your route of going all out fantastical and make it as different from Marvel as possible. Funny thing is I always thought Marvel was more fantasy super hero oriented and DC more dark and realistic but guess times have changed.

DC needs to put out more good films outside of Batman and compete with Marvel that way.

Exactly, i'ts not over for DC at all there have been several dud marvel movies(Though not under Marvel Studios) (Hulk,Fantastic Four,Daredevil,Ghost Rider) were all Marvel characters that had movies that failed.
Yeah sure they ****ed up on Green Lantern pretty bad, but they could always make up with a geat Flash movie and Wonder Woman movie.

Yeah DC can just put out good Flash movies, Wonder Women films and with the new Superman film coming out can make a good franchise out of that. A World's Finest film would work before a JL movie, but Superman films would have to be good just like the Batman series.

Warner Bros. has consistently shown that they are completely clueless when it comes to the superhero genre. They have had the occasional success, but those are vastly outnumbered by the complete failures. Historically, the problem has been that they don't seem to be able to learn from their mistakes or their success stories. Even no-brainers like Superman and Batman have been horribly mismanaged at times. Tim Burton showed them exactly how Batman should be handled, and as soon as he left, they went in a totally different direction. The fact that WB refuses to follow the successful example set by Marvel Studios just goes to prove that the mindset that has allowed these past failures remains firmly in place today. Green Lantern made that pretty clear, too. I don't expect anything different with a JLA movie.
Marvel on the other hand, has had only two complete bombs since the company was reorganized in 1996 - Elektra and Punisher: War Zone. Fortunately, neither of them were particularly expensive to make, and didn't have much of a marketing campaign. Despite the claim above, FF, Daredevil and Ghost Rider performed very well at the box office. Hulk and Blade: Trinity didn't do all that great, but they were still profitable at the end of the day. As Marvel Studios continues to grow as a company, they will leave DC/WB farther in the dust than ever before.
Personally, i'd be happy to see them have a go at doing it the other way round to Marvel.
Create an epic JLA movie with an all new cast, and then do the silo movies afterwards using the new actors/world.

Now that I think about it, I don't think going the Marvel Studios method would work for WB anyway. At the end of the day, it would still be a WB movie. What WB really needs to do is create DC Studios to handle the DC properties. Bring in the brains that have been handling the DC animated movies at Warner Premiere with a great deal of success. The Warner Premiere people seem to have a genuine feel for how the DC Universe should be brought to life on the screen. The New Frontier and Crisis on Two Earths were both excellent JLA stories that were handled with character and care.

You gotta believe that the DC people are furiously writing a script for JLA and checking out the interest and income that the Avengers will bring in.
Unfourtunately I don't think it will ever be as original as what the Avengers are doing now. Having some, what I call "intro," movies ie: Thor, Hulk etc. which all connect to the big movie is excellent. Plus Hawkeye, Thor, Hulk and Captain America all are fairly new to the movie scene and they can be put together and seem to work as a team. In the past there has been so many Supermans and Batman's that seeing just those two together would be awkward. Sure WW and GL would be interesting too but to me DC characters are much more stand alone. Would I spend money seeing a JLA movie? Absolutely. But I would also see it as just another attempt to replicate other similar movies and try to make similar dollar amounts.

Got to see Justice League: Doom the other day. Yet another excellent DC movie from Warner Premier. The animated features being done by WP are, on the whole, far superior to the live action movies being done by WB. Their Justice League movies in particular are always excellent.
