Just watched the trailer and I have to admit that it's weird not seeing Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly. It feels more like an Adventures of Jack Sparrow spin-off than a sequel.

Yes and No. Orlando Bloom was a good straight man for Johnny Depp and Keira Knightly served her purpose as the tough hot chick. They'll be tough to replace.

Well, any half-decent actor can do the straight man role as good as Bloom so I think that'll be the easiest part to improve upon; it may suffer from the lack of a dashing, noble heroic type though. As for beauty, give me Cruz over Knightley any day of the week.

Based on the trailer, Cruz is playing a comedic role. So, she's not really replacing Knightly as the badass chick.

I prefer Knightley's Elizabeth myself, but like it's been pointed out, Cruz is playing a different kind of character, so we'll see. But I agree that Cruz looks really good in the part nonetheless.

Yes but people were confused and assumed the movies were about Elizabeth. No i am certain Sparrow was always the main character and Barbossa second. I am sure the whole franchise was not so Elizabeth could finally get Married made love to and left on an island.

My understanding is that they may do 2 more but use the people in this as recurring Characters. I think Black Beard was meant to be the recurring Villian and the young man in this would be back as well.
I say this because Pirates is a house hold name now like HP and Batman. As long as Sparrow and Johnny Depp returns. They likely will make least 6 and then finally end it for good. Cause 6 seem like s good Saga number too me.

Plus Pirates is a good Job for Depp to go back to in order to express his obvious comedic ability.

Well yeah for it was discribed as not really a sequel except for Barbossa and Jack of the other 2 film but neither a Prequel for take part after events with Davy Jones.

Theres The New Young Man and New Young Girl who is a mermaid i do believe. There is anchors to the team here. Also i think seems like Jack is less goofy and more like Jack in Pirates 1.
