Murphy returns for third “Daddy” installment
Source: Media Freak
July 21, 2008
Revolution Studios has announced its interest in continuing the “Daddy” franchise with a third installment which has been tentatively entitled Daddy Day Cruise.
Eddie Murphy, who was absent from the film’s first sequel, will be reprising the movie’s title role as Charlie Hinton, the day care’s co-founder.
Murphy was quoted, “All I know about this one is that it’s gonna be different. We’re heading in a different direction. I understand what they were trying to do with the sequel, but we’re really amping it up this time around. We’re going back to its roots, but with a twist.”
The film’s supporting role of Phil Ryerson (originally played by Jeff Garlin) is still not yet confirmed, but there are talks of Lawrence Guterman (Cats and Dogs, Son of the Mask) having extreme interest in directing the third film.
Daddy Day Cruise once again follows stay at home dad Charlie Hinton, the co-founder of Daddy Day Care. When Charlie’s wife, Kim, wants a little break from her husband’s up and coming business, she asks him to take her and their son on a cruise to get Charlie’s mind off all his work. Unable to abandon his day care kids, Charlie is forced to bend some rules and bring along the whole day care as well.
The “Daddy” movies have made a total of $110 million with this one having an expected release date of fall 2009.

Hopefully someone will pitch Eddie Murphy overboard on this cruise so he can't come back.

saying "eddie murphy's career is ruined" is like saying "the sky is blue"; everyone knows this, and it's been that way for quite some time.

The first one was fish-out-of-water because, hey, a "Daddy" Day Care? That's what mommies do! It's hilarious! But then a "Daddy" Day Camp? Not as funny because daddies are normally the guys who do take kids camping. Now a "Daddy Day Cruise?" There's not even a "Mommy Day Cruise." In fact, kids don't go on cruises, unless there's pedophiles involved. Is that the hilarious part? I'm not sure anymore.

Two grown men looking after a bunch of kids on a cruise ship.
I'm amazed that whoever greenlit this didn't see what was wrong with that picture.
And I'm sure "ABC" by The Jackson 5 will be played in at least one scene.

I thought the first one was fantastic, it was such a great family comedy. Then Eddie hopped out and so did I. I'm glad on skipped on Daddy Day Camp.

This movie should take care not to be confused with another movie coming out around the same time called "Leather Daddy Gay Cruise."

BHC IV is gonna save his career.

^ Nope it's not!... his career is beyond saving! I LOVED Eddie Murphy in his 80's, I really really did... But he's made pretty much nothing but crappy lamo movie's since after 1995!
BHC IV, aint gonna have the same style or even have the same Axel Foley as seen in the first TWO movies. He already ****ed it up in BVC III!... He might as well have played someone entirely else, he ruined the role completely! I dont see BHC IV doing anything for this guy's career. There's always hope, but I'm not putting money on it!

its funny you guys say that his career is ruined when its far from it. He keeps starring in hits like norbit and dreamgirls, for which he recieved an oscar nom and a slew of other awards. Yes he's also made so misses like meet dave. but according to forbes list of the 2008 top earnes he's like number 3 on the list with 55 million dollars earned last year. so cut the guy some slack he must be doing something right.

The words "hit" and "Norbit" should never be used in the same sentence.

Ummm, what?I'll give you Dreamgirls and thats in for the past decade if not longer. I love Eddie Murphy and he is by far one of my favorite stand-up comedians but his movie career has plumeted. Norbit is nowhere as good as his previous movies like Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2. Besides those movies and some very few others his movies are really trash.

I agree with you i'm a huge murphy fan and I have all the beverly hills cops on dvd. I agree that he should go back to rated r movie fare and not just stick to nothing but family comedies. Since that formula is working for him he should mix that with more adult movies that made him famous. I believe thats why he's resurrecting the Hills Cop franchise.
I was just pointing out that people shouldn't bash his career because by hollywood's standpoint he is still a big star. Every year he's on the power list and he still earns 20 million a picture. He has way more box-office hits then misses. Just because we the fans are dissappointed in the movie choices he's made he's still a powerful name in hollywood and no one can take that away from him on this site or anywhere else. thats all i was saying.

I know but what your saying is pretty silly if you think about it. Your calling Eddie Murphy a big star because he makes 20 Million a picture(well that can't be right at all) but look at his movies Norbit, Pluto Nash, Meet Dave, Bowfinger, etc. They all bombed and they were craptastic. His hits are way off, he has probably only had 3 Box office hits out of the 15 movies he has actually done. I miss the late 80s and early 90s days. Atleast he made good movies back then(Beverly Hills Cop 1, Beverly Hills Cop 2, 48 Hrs and Delirious).

it is right that he makes 20 million a movie thats a fact you can look it up its documented on that. as far as his movies go i will be back later with the stats on that

he did; it was called Norbit.
and Eddie Murphy really wasn't an "R" rated guy, more of a PG-13 (unless you count "Raw")

Norbit wasn't rated R and most if not every Eddie Murphy classic (Trading Places, Coming to America, Beverly Hills Cop) was rated R. So yes, he was an R rated guy.
