i feel the same way:

looking back on it, the entire book was fantastically geared up to this epic fight and confrontation...i could see from the second Bella got pregnant that the volturi would be part of the final showdown whether she lived or not but it never happened! there was no fight! i feel like Emmett here!
they could have won!

seriously....if there had been a giant epic fight between the two sides i really think this could have been like the best final book to any series ive ever read. like it would gotten a complete 100% satisfaction from me.
as it is this is still probably my favourite book series ever still....but dammit. theyre vampires and...shapeshifters i guess....WHERE THE HELL WAS THE FIGHT?!?! guh. still really good though.

I dont know. I really don't like this one as much as the others. I might have to read it again. I'm just not feeling it like I felt the others. I mean there were parts I liked and parts I didn't. I'm just kinda of torn. I really don't think they should make it into a movie.

And Renesmee seriously? That's the best she could come up with? That name is awful. I wanted to call her Carlie instead. That's way better that her first name.

I think I'm one of the only people who weren't bothered by the "birth" scene.

true...it will make a difficult movie. they'll have to do it carefully...i think it might even be weird to see this movie now, knowing what the outcome of the series is.

i think the reason i was able to enjoy this book was because i was purposely expecting little out of it: i learned from the last harry potter book that the last book in a series is cursed lol. the danger of the last book is that it is a separate series in itself because the mood changes because the end is coming. that made no sense and it was a horrible attempt at being deep...but yeah lol

the book lacked that kinda 'dazzle' dare i say that the others did. mostly because edward and bella's (and jacob's factor in that relationship) changed dramatically. i gotta admit...the sudden change to sex addicts kinda was really weird. im used to their relationship being this ocean of passion being held back by a pin that could crash if i even breathed on my book to hard haha.

however i expected the whole book to have a different feel so it didnt both me as much.
it helps to enjoy the book more when you look at it as a separate entity and dont compare it to the others cus it really is a completely different thing (just like the last hp was to me).
but seriously why the hell wasn't there a fight?

What bothered me the most about it was that there wasn't evena fight. it just felt like 500 hundred pages were to prepare for a fight that didn't even happen. I loved vampire bella. I loved their wedding & all that. I even got used to the baby thing. I don't know. I'm pretty confused about her saying that she wants this to be two movies because really I don't get that at all.

I agree about this. It's the one thing that actually really bothered me about the whole book.

Sparkle~Girl
08-04-2008, 08:36 PM
really really should have.
oh yeah and renesmee really is a stupid stupid name. that poor child.

I agree about that, hehehe. I think SMeyer totally did that on purpose though, she was poking fun at Bella's bad naming skills. XD
But I love that kid as a character, she warms up my heart.

As for a movie...I don't really think they should turn BD into a movie. I just don't think it would work. I think they should end everything with Eclipse.

UnicornBlood3
08-04-2008, 10:34 PM
Bella's baby naming skills are about as good as Harry Potter's. :P

Maybe if there had been a fight it could have been a movie ;) Okay I'm bitter about that fight thing lol.

me too. that situation had all the makings for epicness. it WOULD have been epic.
its like meyer had the makings of pure epicness in her hands and she just dusted it off in favor of "meh, maybe some other time".
i. want. EPIC.

You are kidding yourself.

Sparkle~Girl

I just don't understand all the hate emanating in the community right now. I mean, sure I had issues with the book myself, but was it really so HORRIBLE as some people are making it out to be? I don't think so...
I also really hate that people are totally hating on Stephenie and insulting her in comments. It's really not necesary to say those things. -_-

Jason Krueger
08-05-2008, 10:03 AM
Ah people are never happy, I just take it as it comes, I haven't read it yet, hopefully be able to get it this week, but I'm gonna take it as it comes cause I mean its her vision and not anyone else's, so they have no right to complain.

Its like people complaining about epilogue in DH, was it really necessary? Probably not, but it was nice to know what happened with all the character.

Sparkle~Girl
08-05-2008, 10:53 AM
I don't know, I guess I never really complained about the DH epilogue, so now that this pops up again I'm like... *shrug*
But I mean, the Twilight fandom goes more to extremes than the HP fandom ever did. Sometimes I think everyone in the fandom needs to take a chill pill and relax.
But I do agree, it's Stephenie's book and not ours, she will always be right even though some may not like it.

UnicornBlood3
08-05-2008, 01:13 PM
You are kidding yourself.

Not really. I'm not saying it's anywhere as good as Harry Potter or has the potential to do so. I'm just saying it's second behind that in book sales. Even though it's second doesn't mean that it's close to the same number. And that's really all I'm going to say about HP & Twilight. I'm tired of the comparisons. Because there really isn't any.

Yeah I don't really get the hateful stuff either. I mean I didn't like it very much but I'm not going to go rip my book up or burn it like some of those people are saying. To me that's acting like a freaking child. But whatever. It will die down eventually.

I am so happy I was #20 in line.

By the way you guys, to steer back into the movies topic. What do you guys think of a BD movie?
I for one think they should wrap up things with Eclipse, if they even get that far.

UnicornBlood3
08-06-2008, 12:01 PM
Yeah I went up to Walmart at midnight and no one was even there. There were like 5 other girls besides me lol.

I don't think there should be a movie. But if the others do well I'm sure they will make BD just to make as much money as they can.

Jason Krueger
08-06-2008, 12:04 PM
Well I haven't finished it, but it would seem weird to make a movie of the other three (If the first one does well and they do 2 and 3.) and not have one made for the 4th.

Sparkle~Girl
08-06-2008, 12:27 PM
I just don't think BD is movie material at all. It deals with some serious issues and is very depressing half the time, the action doesn't really get moving until the last part and even then it's not much. It works as a book because of the emotions, but I don't think it would work as a movie unless they change a lot. I don't know, I think it would be very boring as a movie. And it wouldn't do very well in the box office.

UnicornBlood3
08-06-2008, 02:13 PM
I don't know. I think New Moon is way more depressing that BD. I agree that if it's like the book then it will be very boring. Since really plot wise it wasn't there. Plus the whole no fight thing. I don't think BD even worked as book very well half the time. But they'll do anything for money.

Dan's_Gurl
08-06-2008, 02:45 PM
^yeah, i agree about new moon. idk how that's gonna work as a movie.

so today i'm clicking htrough channels and i stop on the OC since i saw Nikki Reed (rosalie), then i saw Cam Gigandet (james)....then i saw Jackson Rathbone (Jasper). I'd seen the OC in all their credits on IMDb, but i never realized that they were in the same episodes. so that was a nice surprise.

True, New Moon is more depressing, but still, BD was a really emotional thing for me to read. Though New Moon is still my least favorite of the books.

Exactly. WB made a stupid decision and Summit took that advantage, I see nothing wrong with that.

WB and Summit both made smart choices.

Twilight would've opened against HP's 4th weekend. HP would be making around $10 million on that weekend based on the last two HP's 4th weekend results.

And then the next two weeks would see 8 high profile movies open up. HP would be knocked out of the top ten regardless if Twilight was opening or not. And that's why Twilight moved up because they would be up against 10+ films for the month of December. There are only so many screens.

Warner Bros. has only one summer movie lined up for next summer, Terminator Salvation. The writer's strike and the threat of an actor's strike has left WB without another tentpole film for summer 2009. TDK has over performed so by moving HP they'll bump up their 2009 revenue.

HP would be up against 13 new films in winter 2008 and only 7 in summer 2009. If you were entering a competition would you enter the one with 13 other people or 7?

That gives them a greater share of screens to play in. Moving Twilight gives them three extra weeks before December is loaded with films. Go check each film out. Its going to be a crazy December. And even if nothing changed, HP's first week in theatres would likely make more than Twilight's entire run.

Thought I'd posted this, but apparently I didn't. Press release from Summit Entertainment:

SUMMIT ENTERTAINMENT MOVES UP RELEASE DATE FOR
TWILIGHT TO NOVEMBER 21, 2008

Los Angeles, CA August 15, 2008 - TWILIGHT, the
first film in Summit Entertainment's thriller
romance franchise, has moved up its North American
release date to Friday, November 21, 2008. The
film, which was previously planned to be released
on December, 12, 2008, is taking advantage of an
opening in the upcoming fall release calendar.
The new release date for TWILIGHT allows the
studio to both bring the film to the written-series'
enormous fan base sooner, and to present the film
in more theatres prior to the holiday movie-going
season where traditionally screen time for any
popular film is limited.

"When Warner Bros. decided to move HARRY POTTER
AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE to the summer of 2009,
we saw a unique opportunity to slot in our film
which has been gaining tremendous awareness and
momentum over the past several months," said Rob
Friedman, Co-Chairman and CEO of Summit
Entertainment. "We by no means are trying to fill
the shoes of the incredible POTTER franchise for
2008, rather we are just looking to bring the fans
of Stephenie Meyer's incredible book series the film
as soon possible from a programming perspective."

MTV interviewed Jackson Rathbone for Twilight Tuesday and I really liked this answer he gave. It seems to sum Twilight up perfectly.

MTV: Every year, it seems, Hollywood gives us a ton of vampire movies. What's going to make the "Twilight" movie different?

Rathbone: Well, most vampire movies are all about the gore and the action and the violence. This movie's about the heart. It's about what moves us as humans, and what is so moving to us that it is even encompassed beyond humanity. These are creatures — they're not people, they're not humans, they're kind of the decrepit side of everything. They're dead; there's no oxygen. They can't feel cold, they can't feel anything, but they can feel emotions and what those emotions lead us to do. You can choose morality, or you can choose the life that nature has provided for you, which is death. It's kind of a life-versus-death-story, but not so much in the realm of "you're going to get killed or get to do some killing," but whether you're going to choose to love life and choose love.

August 28, 2008 (part II)

As some of you may have heard, my partial draft of Midnight Sun was illegally posted on the Internet and has since been virally distributed without my knowledge or permission or the knowledge or permission of my publisher.

I have a good idea of how the leak happened as there were very few copies of Midnight Sun that left my possession and each was unique. Due to little changes I made to the manuscript at different times, I can tell when each left my possession and to whom it was given. The manuscript that was illegally distributed on the Internet was given to trusted individuals for a good purpose. I have no comment beyond that as I believe that there was no malicious intent with the initial distribution.

I did not want my readers to experience Midnight Sun before it was completed, edited and published. I think it is important for everybody to understand that what happened was a huge violation of my rights as an author, not to mention me as a human being. As the author of the Twilight Saga, I control the copyright and it is up to the owner of the copyright to decide when the books should be made public; this is the same for musicians and filmmakers. Just because someone buys a book or movie or song, or gets a download off the Internet, doesn't mean that they own the right to reproduce and distribute it. Unfortunately, with the Internet, it is easy for people to obtain and share items that do not legally belong to them. No matter how this is done, it is still dishonest. This has been a very upsetting experience for me, but I hope it will at least leave my fans with a better understanding of copyright and the importance of artistic control.

So where does this leave Midnight Sun? My first feeling was that there was no way to continue. Writing isn't like math; in math, two plus two always equals four no matter what your mood is like. With writing, the way you feel changes everything. If I tried to write Midnight Sun now, in my current frame of mind, James would probably win and all the Cullens would die, which wouldn't dovetail too well with the original story. In any case, I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely.

I'd rather my fans not read this version of Midnight Sun. It was only an incomplete draft; the writing is messy and flawed and full of mistakes. But how do I comment on this violation without driving more people to look for the illegal posting? It has taken me a while to decide how and if I could respond. But to end the confusion, I've decided to make the draft available here (at the end of this message on the Midnight Sun page). This way, my readers don't have to feel they have to make a sacrifice to stay honest. I hope this fragment gives you further insight into Edward's head and adds a new dimension to the Twilight story. That's what inspired me to write it in the first place.

I do want to take a moment and thank the wonderful fans who have been so supportive of me over the past three years. I cannot begin to tell you how much each of you means to me. I only hope this note will stop all the confusion and online speculation so that the Twilight universe can once again become the happy escape it used to be. After this incredibly busy year, I am now focusing on spending more time with my family and working on some other writing projects.

It was a complete violation of privacy and creativity, so she has every right to feel upset and even angry. Do I think she will continue? Yes. I think everyone is making a big deal out of this, she needs some time. Stephenie has had the WORSE few last months with all the hate going around and she needs a break. Plus, she needs our support. There's a difference between the leaking of the book, which was sold early by accident and the leak of an unfinished manuscript. No matter what, I don't think she was expecting this to happen. And she must be terribly embarassed because no matter how much we loved it this was an unedited draft that we were not meant to see.
I don't think Stephenie is trying to get glory by this as so many people say, she's just upset because she wanted us to have the finished product, not this. She had even said that if she didn't publish she would post it on her site for us to read...when it was finished. So, I think she was just extremely upset when she wrote that blog and expressed her feelings.
She didn't care much about the BD leak because it was days before the book was released, this however is far from done.

i kinda think that this was the easiest way for her to back out of the book. I just get the feeling that it wasn't going wonderfully if it's taken her this long, and she still isn't through very much of it. Obviously she has had other projects, but if the story was coming to her easily then she wouldn't be putting it on hold just because some chapters got leaked.

im a writer too. and i still thing she went way overboard. i don't see how she can be too embarrassed about the manuscript because as far as first drafts go, it was phenomenal. i only spotted a few rare mistakes. she should be proud. if that was the reason she's so upset then it has nothing to do with her passion for writing but for her pride to look like a good writer.

and the only difference between a full novel leaking and unfinished manuscript is the level of completion. Other than that there is absolutely no difference, its still personal, it's still from the heart, it's still her writing that came from her.
if she wasn't upset about breaking dawn then she shouldn't flip out about midnight sun. especially when what happens in midnight sun is quite self explanatory and not exactly full of spoilers like Breaking Dawn. if she is upset about the level of completion to a book where we all know the gist of what happens it just goes to show that she's mostly upset about her pride and people seeing a little less than stellar writing.

i am a writer myself so i know how horrible i would feel about someone leaking my unfinished or finished work all over the place....but the only reasons i could think of that would make me THAT upset so as to act THAT childish would be because having it leaked would swindle some of the profit and if i lost writing cred. and since we all know that stephenie is still the writer and she's still gonna make boatloads of cash, she should really chill a bit.

I understand she is upset but acting like a brat about it is not going to get my sympathy.

i agree completely. she's punishing the wrong people.
not to mention she should have braced herself and expected something like this to happen. it's not like she's new to it, and as a writer of her popularity she should realistically understand that likelihood of this happening. i don't understand why she would freak out so much NOW.

She didn't say there will NEVER be a book, she said it's on hold indefenetly. I've learned with Stephenie to not take her words literally. She was upset, this is what she said. I still say give her time and support. I know I will. And I'm sure we will get Midnight Sun eventually.
"on hold indefinitely"....that pretty much means she's not going to write it until she's no longer pissed off.

Obviously she has had other projects, but if the story was coming to her easily then she wouldn't be putting it on hold just because some chapters got leaked.

I'm starting to see it that way too. It seems like she wants to move on from Twilight to show others that she can.

To be honest I don't think the leak was all that bad of a thing for her. From what I saw it seemed like it was slowly bringing the fandom back together after Breaking Dawn.

same. i thought it was wielding some positive results even though it was an unfortunate leak. i just don't see any justification for how upset and irrational she is behaving.
i really wouldn't be surprised if this was her easy way out. it's a shame, but it's starting to seem like that's what is going on.

Obviously she has had other projects, but if the story was coming to her easily then she wouldn't be putting it on hold just because some chapters got leaked.
Obviously it wasn't going very well and after the backlash from BD I understand if she's disheartened about writing in this universe again. However, she had said it would be her next project in line, even if it took her a while. But now, I think she's even more disheartened. Plus, I would think Midnight Sun would take much longer to complete than any of the other books, it's much more complex to see things from Edward's POV. She has been writing this for a LONG time.

and you've learned not to take Stephenie's words literally? you know how bad that sounds right? that kinda just works in supporting her childish behavior.
That's not what I meant. Simply that when someone is upset they say things like this, obviously she was upset when she wrote the blog. It's a human reaction to something like this. Like I've said before, I would've done the same.

What upsets me the most is all the negativity towards her. If it keeps going I don't think she will be motivated again into the Twilight world. She feels like she might deliver something less than expected, even if the reaction was positive to the first half of MS.

She doesn't need to do that. The Host already proved she can do different things, and in many ways I enjoyed The Host more than the actual Twilight saga in it's own world.

yeah you did but you're one person. it definitely didn't match the success of twilight or come close. it was still, dare i say it, 'eclipse'd by twilight.
it's going to take more than one book to finally prove she can successfully move away from twilight.

I'm surprised you two made it through the series. I figured you would have died when you that last chapter in Eclipse when Edward was uh... telling Bella what he wanted and when he wanted it! :P

I'm so ready for the movie(s)... now that I've read the books I can see the movie(s) better in my head. Hopefully we'll get to see Alice and her yellow Porsche one day. That's one of my favorite parts of the series. It cracked me up for some reason. The one concern I have is Elizabeth Reaser. Don't get me wrong, she was alright on Grey's Anatomy for a while, but I got tired of her. Her delivery fell flat alot of the time for me. I hope that isn't the case with this movie because Esme is one of my favorite characters. Also, I'm curious as to how they're going to achieve the whole sparkling thing and make it look realistic as to cartoonish. CGI?

And..just to throw this out there...what in the blue hell is that child's name? I mean, I know what it is, I just can't figure out how to say it.

Rated PG-13 For some violence and a scene of sensuality.
Release Date: November 21, 2008
thank god, i was hoping it would be at least over PG. :D

haha i dont understand the big deal about this film. nothing about the book/film interests me at all..i dont get it. and the trailer was really bland.
seems like the author is desperately trying to ride the waves of JK Rowling. also, Bella Swan is the dumbest name ever :( i loooove Kristen Stewart though

have you actually read the books? because i'll admit, trying to describe the general plot of the books is just about the dumbest sounding thing in the literary world but the actual books are fantastic. it's such a shame some people wont read these books because they are so dead against the general plot outline that doesn't even begin to describe the actual quality of the book itself.

i would love it was something along the lines of "let the flames begin","fences" or "crushcrushcrush"
but im also hoping for something slow-ish like "my heart"....actually i was just really hoping all of those songs would be on the soundtrack haha.

It's apparently a new song they're doing for the movie.

I guess they decided the soundtrack should match the overall feel of the book series and movie.

Just want to wish everyone a Happy Stephenie Meyer Day! And I want to wish our own Bella Swan aka Cullen a very happy 21st birthday! Congrats! Oh, and while I'm on it...Happy Belated 1st B-Day Renesmee!!!! :D

PS/ Rupert Grint is reading Twilight... XD

"Interrupted by his phone ringing, Rupert quickly answered it as we waited around. After replying to the text message, we found out that Rupert recently lost a bet to actor Robert Pattinson, who was once part of the Harry Potter cast in a previous film, and insisted that Rupert read the bestselling book. Rupert is now "stuck reading 'Twilight'" and that Rob was just texting him to see how far along he was getting.

Rupert admitted he had only read the first five chapters of the bestselling book and we just informed him that there were three more books in the series. "No, really, are you serious? I thought there was just this one book?" Only now realizing he has to read three more, Rupert took his phone out and sent another message to Rob. By the looks of things, we can bet it wasn't a very pleasant message"

I'm more than halfway through Twilight and I gotta tell you, I don't understand why these novels get so much hype. It's an OK romantic plot, but it's been done before and I've become bored with the relationship between the 2 leads..that's just my take, I'll read it till the end though so I can make an accurate judgment at the end.

Lots of things happen that I wasn't expecting. I was afraid when I started reading the books that it was going to be recycled Buffy/Laurell K. Hamilton plots but I was pleasantly surprised.

Has anyone signed the millions of petitions that are going to Meyer to get her to finish Midnight Sun? I signed one the other day. I'd really like to see how Twilight would be from his perspective.... I think I might like it better than the original book.

I signed the first petition that popped up, but that's the only one.

As for the book, I really don't see how Bella and Edward's relationship could ever be boring with all that goes on with them, hehe

no kidding ^ haha

yeah i havent signed any petitions but that's only cus i haven't found any lol.
i honestly think twilight would be WAY more interesting from Edward's perspective: more complex and gives us way more interesting information.
plus i love that it gives us the cullen family behind closed doors.

SHOCKTILLYOUDROP has released infomation on the release of the official Twilight trailer.

Over at camp Twilight, the vampire drama based on Stephenie Meyer's novel, we've been informed a proper trailer is due in mid-October. When we pressed for more details on the possible film it will be attached to, our informant clammed up.

I still think the trailer will come out either next week or the first week of October. Mid-October sounds too far away, especially since Summit sent an e-mail weeks ago saying the full trailer was coming soon.

BTW, Stephenie Meyer will be on the Ellen show tomorrow.

Yeah I hope it comes out sooner too. Plus it would make more sense with the movie being moved up.

Did anyone watch SM on Ellen today? I couldn't, and I was just wondering what she had to say.

nothing we haven't heard before. she wrote the book from a dream, there's a movie, she has three kids, blah, blah, blah.
