Breaking News: ‘Twilight’ Stars To Unveil First Scene From Their Flick At The Movie Awards!

At the risk of sounding like an infomercial pitchman: “But wait! There’s more!” Author Stephenie Meyer graced the MTV studios this week with her presence, and recorded an exclusive message for the “Twilight” fans. Meyer’s introduction will play during the pre-show, just before her movie’s first-look scene.

As if the very notion of “Twilight Tuesdays” hasn’t already driven the point home, the vampire franchise has converted many MTV staffers into Twilighters over the past few months.

The 18th annual MTV Movie Awards will once again be held live this year from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal Studios, Hollywood. The “Twilight” cast will be hangin’ with stars from such heavily-nominated flicks as “Juno” and “Superbad,” while they stake their own early claim on the 2009 show.

Be sure to tune in at 7:30 pm for the pre-show festivities. Immediately after the program airs, the exclusive scene will be uploaded for fans to watch (and watch, and watch…) at MTV.com and the MTV Movies Blog. So I bought a bunch of stock in this on HSX and it's been doing pretty well. Something in my gut tells me though that people are going to be disappointed in the final product. Hopefully it will be good - but I just have a feeling that this isn't one of those movies that will translate well from the book. Here's to hoping though.

Because i really don't like when modern vampire tales think they're being unique by debunking the basic rules and natures of vampires (ie. sunlight, running water, crosses, etc.) I think vampires are much more interesting with all of the restrictions and things applied.

Well they can't go out in sunlight, but for a totally different reason, crosses don't affect them, and I don't know what you mean by running water. If you think vampires are more interesting with all that, you probably won't like it, but you could still check it out.

well yeah it does kinda get rid of them, like the fangs and garlic and crosses and such but meyer replaces them with her own.
like a different explanation for not going in direct sunlight: sunlight makes their skin sparkle (its described a lot better in the book haha)
the thirst is still there. still the essential idea of a vampire is still there.
all i can say is that meyer just handles the topic really well and in my opinion gives me my favourite description of the vampire transformation/changing i've ever read or scene. puts a real brutality and consequence into it.

i wouldnt really call that a connection. forks is a small town. dudes a cop (which in movie terms is always a target). charlie is the main cop. at the beginning of the novel charlie and bella barely had a relationship. sounds like just a fun little coincidence moment.

he claimed to love bella but he knew the chances were he could easily imprint on someone else and that would automatically trump whatever he felt for her (plus he's still just a kid. he doesn't understand love yet). how could he be so selfish as to beg and almost force bella to be with him when he knew that in the future there could easily be a situation where he would abandon her and leave her alone. and she wouldn't even had edward cus she had chosen him!

see that always pissed me off about him.

i am. i mean, i've got nothing against the inappropriate question here or there, but it sounds like that just took up the whole hour, which is ridiculous. you aren't 14 year old girls, ask a question that's relevant (a twilight mom apparently asked the boxers or briefs question). i really expected more from Stephenie Meyer. I was actually suprised, it's quite good. Some things are different, take place somewhere else or another moment, but it's great. They also added a few thing that I found really cool and I love how they developed Bella and Charlie's relationship a bit more. Plus, there's a big cliffhanger at the end for New Moon.

Apparently the Epilogue and first 7 chapters have leaked, someone even posted pictures to prove it, but I haven't looked at anything, so I have no idea. Though someone commented on LJ that the ending was worse than the HP one, which made no sense to me because I loved the end of HP. So, we'll see. I don't think it's really fair to the reading experince to read spoilers of little parts of a book that are take completely out of context of the rest of the plot and would therefore make no sense. It's just stupid. -_-

The phenomenom is very similar. This is the book that knocked HP7 off the top spot in the bestselling list, plus it's the first to have a midnight release after HP. Plot wise, they're not similar at all though.

I think ya'll are underestimating the hype people have for this book, and with the movie coming out it's going to create more of an incentive to go out and read the books before they see the movie thus creating more twilight addicts and more people to share edward with... jerks...

With HP everyone knew that it would only get bigger as the books went on so people were prepared for the potter magnitude, but this is the last book and the maddness is only getting bigger and no one can really anticipate how big august 2nd will be because this has all happened so fast and not over a gradual period of time like HP.

i feel the same way:

looking back on it, the entire book was fantastically geared up to this epic fight and confrontation...i could see from the second Bella got pregnant that the volturi would be part of the final showdown whether she lived or not but it never happened! there was no fight! i feel like Emmett here!
they could have won!

seriously....if there had been a giant epic fight between the two sides i really think this could have been like the best final book to any series ive ever read. like it would gotten a complete 100% satisfaction from me.
