With the film being planned for a 2009. Who would you like to see cast as Thor? I found it quite hard as I feel a big actor is needed. I wouldnt want to see a WWE wrestler casted as the role since they can't act to save their lives. After seeing Brad Pitt bulked up for Troy I thought he could make a good Thor but the role maybe too similar to the one he played in Troy. Please feel free to add your thoughts or any comments you want to about the upcoming feature. I hope Hollywood wont screw this up by making it family friendly.

i would like to see the classic version of thor protecting eath from evil while sharing don blakes body
on the other hand i like the idea from the incredible hulk returns tv movie of don summoning thor by channeling him i wouldn't mind seeing that either

I read that the first film was all gonna take place on Asgard with no Donald Blake until the end of the movie. And no way do I want to see Brad Pitt play Thor. Perhaps he could be Donald Blake but I somehow want Owen Wilson to play the part. As for the casting of the Mighty Thor himself I still want some unknown Scandinavian actor who can fit Thor's attributes. It can't be hard surely.

And I do wonder how Stan Lee's cameo appearance would fit into Asgard. Perhaps if the speculations are true about Odin banishing Thor from Asgard into Donald Blake, then a cameo in New York by The Man would be possible. No doubt would Blake end up there. As long as it ain't Tampa like in the Punisher then I'll be cool with that.

I dont wanna start a lame debate about this but Wrestlers actually do act. Some of them are ok at it. They have gimmicks and crap so they act towards the audience as they are good guys/bad guys. So they are kind of forced to act. Some might or might not transfer well on the big screen. But The Longest Yard had about 5 former wrestlers in it who had good lines and important roles.

Anyway Id love to see thor to the big screen, just please dont cast Brad Pitt.

But with these films they need Hollywood players not some unknown Scandinavian actor even if they can fir Thors attributes. I didnt really want Brad Pitt for the role but cant think of anyone else for this.

I could see Karl Urban in the role if he was bulkier.

Even if Owen Wilson just walks past the camera he'd waist the movie for me, I just can't stand the man, none of his movies are ever good.

I don't see why it would have to be an unknown Scandinavian actor, if we were going for the genuine then sure but we're going for a comic book movie. Sure the movie could be dark or gritty or both but they don’t have to be genuine. Lets face it Thor is going to be speaking English, not Norse.

I never said anything about Thor speaking the Norse tongue. Of course the film will be predominantly English. I'd just like to have a little accent in there for authenticity's sake.

Owen Wilson was just a suggestion. I don't mind the guy at all. I like him better than the likes of Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell.

Howabout Daniel Craig. He was kinda mean looking in Casino Royale and he has the physique for the role. only thing is he'll have to do something about his accent.

As long as they can put on a convincing fake accent I'm happy. Let's just not have Norse version of Sharry Bobbins's Dick Van Dyke.

I hate Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Will Ferrell and meany more just like them.

ever notice that in the comic book all the Asgardians speak with a lot of thee's and thou's - I doubt many Norse people have ever used their thee's and thou's :D

That's one reason i could never get into the Thor scene - I bet they'll find some way of messing up the movie.

I don't think they'll go that far. After all Thor in the Ultimate Avengers animated features didn't utter a thou or thee not even once. I just hope Thor retains his classic helmet and hammer not the hammer we saw in UA.

I agree with you Ramplate, Hollywood seem to mess things up by making it family friendly those bastards. I hope they keep the classic look.

Thor is my favorite Ultimate Universe character so if the movie was to reflect this version of him I'd be happy. If they used the more normal or 616 version I would still be happy but I don't think I'd like it as much.

I agree. I never gave Thor much thought until I read the Ultimates. :) I hope they make him more like that.

I never really gave comics much thought till I read the Ultimates. It used to bug me that in the marvel universe Norse people were right and Christians must be wrong coz Thor (a god) was real. I think I'm right now that he isn't a god he just thinks/says he's a god and has god like powers.

Actually I used to hate most of the 616 versions of the Ultimates but since I read that book I've got a better understanding of them. Giant-man is still stupid...

Same here. I never really liked Iron Man, but I like his Ultimate Version. I much prefer Ultimate Nick Fury too. :)

not that i want thor to die, but i enjoyed the comics where he did die thats all, and it would bring good closure, unlike many comic book movies.

That's all I read coz that's when I decided you didn't have a clue... The Rock is not a good actor. He can do what he can do but that's not good acting.

Brad Pitt or Matthew McConaughey (with blonde hair)

would be perfect for that role.
