60 years from now?

I was reading The Ultimates Annual 2, and something Captain America said struck me, as he was talking about the "lack of progress" in the United States since he left:

"My head and my heart tell me that I should be winning a war that will make the world free and everyone equal-- not looking at the sad result of sixty years of compromise and lowered expectations."

Obviously, from his point of view, the world today sucks big time when compared to the nostalgic greatness of the 1940's. He's having a really hard time adjusting to the modern era.

But my question is THIS: If you fell asleep today, and woke up 60 years from now, how different do you think the world would be?

I figure that, in 2066, the world might be like this:

- A totalitarian New World Order will have replaced every government on Earth.

- Everyone will have a microchip in their brain.

- The world population will have been reduced to only 2 billion, and will be maintained at only 2 billion.

- Religion will be a thing of the past.

- Monogamy and families will also be nothing more than a distant memory.

- People will be assigned a social position from birth, perhaps even belong to a corporation since birth.

- Everyone will have two a**holes. ;)

How about you?

- Hydrogen powered cars will have replaced all vehicles which use fossil fuels.
- Solar and wind power will be used in far greater amounts. Nuclear power will have all but vanished, although there will be a problem with what to do with all of the radioactive waste.
- Television as we know it now will no longer exist. Instead, each of us will be carrying personal devices which can access a limitless variety of video and audio entertainment options, with the video in 3D.
- We will have discovered several earth-type planets around nearby stars and perhaps will have found a way to make contact with them.
- We will have found cures for many of the current major diseases, although several new diseases will have replaced them.
- George Lucas will say Indiana Jones 4 is still two years from starting production.

In 2066, there won't be any gay people anymore. Nor will there be straight people either. Everyone will be born genderless and sexual orientation impaired, and at the age of 18 we'll be able to choose if we want to be male or female, straight or gay. And it won't be permanent, we'll be able to change at any point in our lives if we wish. God bless genetic engineering. ;)

It doesnt necessarily have to be EU. My bet would be US of A. Being such an ant in the system we dont really see it but the power and fear of the information is going to rule the governments sooner or later. It basically started with 9/11. Everybody is using it as an excuse to monitor EVERYTHING. The more you see the more you know. And the more you know the more control you have. Politicians have realised this long ago. Im not saying everybody is heading this way deliberately but sooner or later its going to get out of hand...
And if not... well, I bet around 2100 there isnt going to be democracy anymore (cause system of society based on democracy is flawed as it is and again I believe it will get worse, nothing can last long as we can see from history) My bet would be something between socialism and democracy. Socialism itself is much more mature idea than democracy but i dont believe it can be realised given the nature of human behaviour...

Totalitarianism: a term employed by political scientists, especially those in the field of comparative politics, to describe modern regimes in which the state regulates nearly every aspect of public and private behavior.

I knew what it meant I'm just not great with definitions so I looked it up.

I never really meant that the EU would be a totalitarian society just that it's kind of the start of making us 1 planet and not many nations.
