So what do make of the news over at the Hype? About the Smallville – Superman crossover (Story link (http://www.superherohype.com/news/supermannews.php?id=2832)):

« We had a discussion with Bryan Singer and even if we're kept to the secret for the moment, we can tell you that something's going to happen in the fifth season of Smallville that will have an impact on the Superman returns movie ».

Lex has been split into his good and evil selves.

One of the problems they ran into was Warner Bros. I think a couple of years ago the smallville writers thought they were going to be setting up the new movie, but when this season started, they were getting ready to start making announcements about the movie and put a hold on what smallville could and couldnt do.

And I agree. I can't stand Lois. I thought this new episode was horrible.... but the thing about the Lois on the show is she isn't the Lois that Clark knows in Metropolis.. I think Chloe will taker her name somehow.

And why can't Clark give up on Lana? How stupid is that guy... Chloe practically throws herself at him..."oh but I wanted to go to prom with Lana..boo hoo" get over it hero.

What's with the 90 minute finale? Anyone know anything about it? I can't stand this season, but still like the show. I guess next year, WB is letting them set up plot points for the movie, which will be nice. Means we can be done with all this witch crap. Cuz you remember all the witches in the superman comics, don't ya?... don't ya?.... no? yeah me neither.

I really liked this week's episode, it was nice to see the Clark/Chloe relationship develope, and it was good to see the evil Lex in action. What I didn't like was the fact that Lana dumped Jason and then seconds later planned a date with Clark, that was kinda weird and sudden, not to mention out of character. I'd really hate for the show to go back to the Lana/Clark angst fest again, that's what ruined season 3 for me.

I just hate the state of flux that Clark and Lana go through. He loves her , she can trust him, she dates someone else who ends up being a psycho in some way, she leads Clark on by asking him out , Rinse and Repeat. I think he should have hooked up with Lois. She looks like she is a real wildcat in the sack.

updated official description of the season finale. contains spoilers
THE 90-MINUTE SEASON FINALE IS PACKED WITH MURDER, BETRAYAL AND AN UNFORGETTABLE GRADUATION DAY FOR ALL - Clark (Tom Welling) begins to piece together the reason he was sent to Earth after he has a nightmare that something horrible is going to happen to Smallville and heads to the cave to seek answers from Jor-El. His biological father tells him he must reunite the three crystals immediately or a disaster of epic proportions will befall the planet and even Clark won't be able to stop it. Meanwhile, Lex (Michael Rosenbaum) helps Lana (Kristin Kreuk) escape Smallville after the death of Genevieve Teague the takes shocking action to get one of the crystals away from Lionel (John Glover). Realizing they are connected to Clark, Chloe (Allison Mack) tries to stop Lex from discovering the truth about the crystals. Jason (Jensen Ackles) takes Jonathan (John Schneider) and Martha (Annette O'Toole) hostage and threatens to kill Martha unless Jonathan tells him where Clark hid the crystals. Greg Beeman directed the episode written by Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer

yea, but I will put it in spoiler tags. The show started off with Chloe in her office signing the school photographers yearbook, a few seconds later, the school bell rang and Chloe found it strange that she heard no students at all. She looked around and found no one until she went to the locker room. She found a student hunched over by the water fountain and noticed that she wasn't moving, but her eyes were. She ran to look out the windows and instead of seeing outside, she saw lights. It turns out that the photographer has some kind of power where he can freeze people and he recreated smallville high in some abandoned factory. He also kidnapped Lana and killed a girl who was trying to escape. When Clark and Lois found them, Lois tried to do some butt-kicking but when she went to kick him, he froze her instantly, needless to say clark came to save the day. Lana dedided not to go to college and stay in smallville.

Now comes the good part. Lex and Lionel were kidnapped by none other than Jason and his mom. They were accusing Lionel of having the stone, and were planning to torture Lex to get Lionel to talk. Eventually Lionel couldn't take any more of seeing his son punished, so he revealed that he gave it to Lana and told Jason and his mom that Lana is the chosen one and she deserves the stones. Jason started to go look for Lana but his mom grabbed the car keys from him and said I'll go. So Jason stayed with the Luthors as his mom went to look for Lana. Lex and his dad worked together to free themselves and ended up running for their lives form a gun toting Jason who almost Killed Lionel if it wasn't for Lex. Lex and Jason began to fight and Jason lost his gun, he then began to run from Lex who was weilding a big log. Jason found himself at the tip of a cliff when he began to plead to Lex. In an act of desperation he brought up Clark saying to Lex that Clark was linked to all of this and just before he was about to say something like Clark isn't human, Lionel shot him and he fell off the cliff and into the water. Lex looked at his dad with confusion and anger. "I was trying to protect you" Lionel said and Lex looked at him suspiciously saying "Or trying to protect something". Jason Teague is dead.

What I like about this episode is that it finally tied smallville Lana to Superman Lana instead of the traveling the globe Lana that we have seen.

For the most part, I've thought this season has been horrible. I know WB handcuffed them when the season started because of the new movie and all, but it's been pretty weak. Having said that, the Finale was great. They pulled it together to make the episode they've been trying to do all season.

1. My work speed is T1 with a rock solid firewall, so no torrent downloads
2. My home speed is dialup so letting it run all night still only nets me 5% of my torrent downloaded, so like 160 hours of downloading.

some more info about season 5 from the TCA

We caught up with a few of the folks behind Smallville at the 2005 TCA Summer Press Tour in Los Angeles, California which was held on July 22. Some of the questions you all have been wondering about have been answered:

* For fans concerned about Chloe's future, here's Greg Beeman: "I think is going to be Chloe's best year," he says. "And when Allison Mack read episode one, episode two, and episode three, she came up to me and she went, like, 'I'm going to have a great year aren't I?' The main thing that's really fun is, now that she knows Clark's secret, they have this partnership, and they function as partners in a really fun way where they give each other a lot of grief, and she can do things that Clark can't do, whether he has his powers or not."
* As for what fans have to look forward to in the fifth season, Beeman offers this hint: "If it all works out, the action sequence in episode three is maybe going to be one of the most exciting things we've ever done."
* Executive Producer Alfred Gough tells us that James Marsters is planned for 7 episodes, but there is an option for more episodes after that.
* Tom Welling will be directing some episodes in Smallville's fifth season, in the latter part of the season.
* Tom Wopat will be showing up in episode #6.
* Answering the question of who will be going to what school: Clark will be at Central Kansas University, Chloe will be at Met U, and Lana will eventually be at Met U.
* When asked if Jensen Ackles will be returning as Jason for the Season Five premiere, Al Gough tells us no. "He's deader than Elvis right now," he reveals.
* Gough tells us a little more about Smallville's version of Aquaman: "This incarnation of Aquaman is sort of a young environmentalist, and what he's going to do is to teach Clark to think a little more globally with his super-powers rather than just locally."
# Any chance of an Aquaman spin-off series? "I doubt it," Gough says. "We may bring him back like the Flash for other episodes, but now I hear because of the sort of success of Entourage, the studio is going to start developing a feature of Aquaman."
# And will the Flash be coming back? "You could potentially see him again. There are no plans at the moment, but we're definitely open. He's [Kyle Gallner] on Veronica Mars, but he's only in, I think, like 12 out of 22, so we can use him again."
# There might be another DC Comics super-hero in the back part of Season Five.
# They are not planning for Season 5 to be the show's last. Instead, they are planning for six, and maybe seven at the most.
# The "powerless Clark" storyline, which begins early in the season, will not continue for as long as you may think. It sounds to us like his powers will be back by the end of the season's third episode, which is titled "Hidden," and that they return in a very cool way.
# Erica Durance will be in the Season 5 opening credits as Lois Lane.

That's how I always saw tem finnishing the show. They should end where Lois & Clark started, Clark gets a job at the Planet and Martha makes his suit. Last scene of the last episode shoulod be a newspaper (posibly the Planet) with a heading saying something like, "Superman!" and a photo.

TV Guide's Ask Ausiello is reporting that original Star Wars Trilogy star Carrie Fisher is heading to Smallville.

Carrie's playing Pauline Kahn, the no-nonsense editor-in-chief of the "Daily Planet" whom Chloe (Allison Mack) meets in hopes of landing an internship. Her episode airs Oct. 27. But considering Chloe gets the gig, it's probably safe to say we'll see Princess L again.

official description for "Arrival"
CLARK VISITS THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE AND LANA FINDS A SPACESHIP - Having been transported to the Fortress of Solitude, Clark (Tom Welling) is confronted by Jor-El, who tells him he cannot return to Smallville, instead he must stay and prepare to save the planet. Also, transported to the Fortress, Chloe (Allison Mack) is unable to handle the sub-zero temperature and collapses, begging Clark to use his powers to save her. Jor-El forbids him to leave, but finally acquiesces, telling Clark he must return before sunset or there will be dire consequences. Meanwhile, Lana (Kristin Kreuk) is horrified when she sees two Kryptonian aliens emerge from a spaceship discovered in the remnants of the meteor shower. The two aliens destroy what's left of the town searching for Kal-El. Michael Rosenbaum, John Glover, Erica Durance, Annette O'Toole and John Schnieder also star. Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer wrote the episode directed by James Marshall

New Opening Titles For Season Five
Another tidbit we learned from Smallville executive producer Alfred Gough in our new interview that we felt was worth mentioning on the main page.... the opening titles for Season Five will sport a brand-new look.

"We're gonna have a brand spanking new title sequence. Completely new graphics, completely new everything," Gough said.

Unfortunately, the thought of asking "will there be a new theme song?" came AFTER the interview was concluded...

The new credits will include Erica Durance as Lois, who returns for 13 episodes. For more spoilers about Season 5 visit the KryptonSite Spoilers Page.

Here's the best, well funniest, part of the interview with Gough:

KRYPTONSITE: Is there any truth to the rumors that Dean Cain will be appearing at some point this season?

SMALLVILLE EXECUTIVE PRODUCER ALFRED GOUGH: I will say there is a little truth to the Dean Cain rumors. We have spoken to Dean's people. We have not found a story yet that we want to put him in. I think if you're going to get somebody like Dean, you've got to make sure that the role is right, and that the episode is good. He is definitely someone we want on the show, and as soon as we find the right episode and the right character, we will move on it, and hopefully given his schedule, he'll be able to do it.

Yeah, we really don't want to lower Dean Cain's career because he has been spiraling to the top of the Hollywood food chain by taking the job as host of Ripley's Belieive it or Not. :D Let's not forget his 3 episode stint on Vegas as eye candy.

A bad role on Smallville, with no real significance to the Superman lineage, might damage his career.

Actually I would like to a see a story line where clark is temporally blown to the future in the body of his Adult self (Cain pull your red and blue suit out of mothballs) but with his present memories. sorta like a mini "13 going on 30" episode. This could give Clark insite to what his life has in store for him. I am sure they could come up with some cheesy but plausible excuse to make it happen. Something like a radical terrorist group makes a bomb using c4 and meteor rock in the detonator housing. For more fun they could throw in some random clues in Superman lore that Clark misses but the camera picks up. Like a newspaper on a park bench mentioning President Lex Luthor and Vice President Pete Ross. Or a news paper exclusive by Lois Lane. It could happen.

wait, no it wouldn't. Seriously, I think they should just keep to the timeframe being dealt with... no future jumps. Superman Returns will be out in June, then we can all get our Super Fix.

Is it me or are they ripping-off Superman II? On tonights season premiere Clark loses his powers, General Zod appears, and I'm guessing Clark and Lana are going all the way.

My complaint was that fight with those two kryptonians was waay too short and easy, Clark shouldn't had beaten them that easy

Actually Zod did not appear his Dispiles appeared. But it wouldn't surprise me if Zod does appear. And the way they brought in Brainic (James) Was awesome. I also want to know what happend to Lionel

As a loyal Buffy fan I found it a treat to have not one but two Buffy alums in this episode. James Marsters and Leonard Roberts (who played the male Kryptonion) Roborts was half of the episodes in season 4 as one of the enhanced GI's working for the crazy professor lady. Infact he was one of the guys who caught Spike (Marsters) that end with his chip implant that ended his bloodlust.

What are the chances Clark will become Superman by the end of the season? I think the season premiere sort of indicted that, that's the way they're headed.

insaneMoViEgoer
09-30-2005, 02:19 PM
he'll become superman at the end of the series. smallville is about his journey towards superman and not being superman.

Neverending
09-30-2005, 08:31 PM
This is the 5th season. They already passed Lois & Clark. And, will possibly pass the George Reeves series as well. With the movie being released this upcoming summer they'll probably want to catch in on the success. There's nothing wrong with Clark turning into Superman at the end of the season and next year starting a whole new series with Welling as Superman.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

The average american college experience is more along the lines of 5 years. It is supposed to be 4 years, but for most people it always exceeds the 4 years years - changing of majors, taking time off, etc.

exactly

Also the episode wasn't that bad, it just didn't have that big bang like the other season openers do.One thing I must say is that they need to make the fights longer or at least have clark do something difficult

I enjoyed the episode. Sure the fight was pretty short but overall I enjoyed it. Marsters emerging as Braniac was impressive.

And Erica Durance on the opening credits. WOOOOOOO!!!!! :D

Lastly the fortress sequence was awesome.

Looking forward to the next episode.

You know I was just thinking, I think it would be kinda cool to have Richard Donner guest direct a couple of episodes.

And No I do not think having Pete come back is a good idea. Pete and Chloe both knowing CK secret is too much liability to spill the beans. Did any of you see Pete on the last episode of ER? He had a minor role as Pratt's (Mekhi Phifer) half brother who were meeting for the first time.

No she feels a super close bond to Ck now that will seal friendship.

"No Chloe, I have told no one else my secret...well except for Pete Ross, and my Parents, and Lex but got his memory erased, and Alicia the hot nympho teleporting chick, and you, Lana and Lois when you were possessed witches and..."

See the impact is not qiute the same.

he does tell her about pete, i believe in the next episode.

Clark then says something to Chloe about how Pete didn't bother him this much, and Chloe replies "You told Pete?!?!" "Well, he found my spaceship." "He saw your spaceship?!?!" The scene sounds like a lot of fun.

New opening credits? Is this a new American craze? Both Stargates have new opening credits. Are the new Smallville credits shorter/faster and more like Lost, Alias, and both the new Stargate credits?

This was the most pointless episode of Smallville I have ever seen. It took him the entire episode to pull the whole that briefcase stunt? If you look at the previews in one of the upcoming episodes he's gonna get shot. So, that proves to Lex that he is human. So, this episode was completely pointless. The ONLY good thing about it is that Clark and Lana finally had sex.

Karma Dog

It annoys me that you have an ending like the finale showing Marsters then the next show is some BS FOTW filler episode. Dumb. All this episode show is the breakdown of CK and LL, Ck finally tapping Lana, and proof to LL, Lana and the cops that CK is not superpowered.
