I think this would have been great as a movie. It felt like when I was watching the trilogy that they could have added some more fight scenes, etc. It was pretty damn good though. There's just something about Popeye punching Darth Maul's double lightsaber into two. The first thing that Butters imagines is his father saying he's grounded.

NEW YORK, March 10, 2008 – Cartman’s routine tonsillectomy goes horribly wrong in an all-new episode of "South Park." Coming off record ratings in season 11 and the now infamous “Imaginationland” trilogy, “South Park” returns for its 12th season with seven all-new episodes beginning Wednesday, March 12 at 10:00 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL. Fans will be able to download the uncensored version of each new episode from the 12th season on iTunes, xBox LIVE and Amazon Unbox.

The face of South Park could change forever when Eric Cartman is diagnosed with an incurable disease in the premiere episode, entitled “Tonsil Trouble.” When the support Cartman is counting on falls short, he has to take matters into his own hands.

Well I have to say that... well I don't know what to say. There's usually a comedic punchline at the end of the episodes. But this one was just dark and almost gritty-like. I was even surprised on how they took Cartman's role in the episode. It was like, even he went pass his limit and just freaked out. After he ran out, he wasn't even in the rest of the episode. It was weird.

I thought that was weird too.
But then, episodes like this are barely South Park episodes at all, just vehicles for the makers to do whatever they want. If it's just Stan and Kyle they're hardly even characters, they're just Matt and Trey.

When they started chanting at Kyle the first time, that was the only time I laughed. This was definitely one of the more awkward episodes I've ever seen.

Although... I'm not sure I laughed at all during last week's episode either. However I didn't think it was weird as this one.

I also found Cartman's departure from this recent episode very odd as well. I thought he may have caught it on video or something and was running off to sell it. I thought it looked like it was leading to something good until they revealed the missing head/being alive plot, then it just really went downhill from there.

But yeah, anyway, this season is off to a really slow and disappointing start, and like others, it seems kind of strange how serious the show is coming across. I don't think Matt and Trey are doing it on purpose, but these episodes have been a lot more serious in tone and delivery.

This was one of the best South Park episodes. It had something to say, and I agree with it 110%. That's why South Park is so much better than Family Guy.. The show tends to carry a message, even though it may do so in a crude manner, it still gets its point across through comedy. I never thought Britney would have lived to see 2008.

Necross

Honestly, when it comes to the point she's at, I think they do. I really liked the episode. After the shock of the whole no head thing wore off I DIDN'T laugh the rest of the episode except for the part when the news was reporting capturing the "giant squirrel" and I think Cartman's depature was the most shocking thing I've ever seen on the show. I agree with their message 100% in this one. I didn't laugh a lot but I thought it was a very thoughtful episode honestly.

The analogy used last night was lame. Canada goes on strike = WGA? Terrence and Phillip = Matt and Trey?

I mean, Kyle's speech at the end and the point of the episode made sense, but really it should have revolved around something completely different. Also, I expected to see at some point a reference to Matt and Trey's new website where you can now watch all the South Parks ever made for free.

Mr. Garrison becoming a man again? Somehow, I always pictured he'd eventually come full circle and by the end of the series would not only be a man again, but fully heterosexual and settled down with a wife and kids. Great irony after he's experimented with every other possible lifestyle.

My favorites so far this season has been "Major Boobage," followed by "Britney's New Look." One for the parody, and the other for the satire. This last one, however, touched down on a certain mentality I haven't seen on South Park since the second season. It actually brought the show back to it's "stupid" roots for one episode. I still can't get over that musical number on the fence.

Ewok Droppings

I think the problem with making fun of the movie "Stand and Deliver" is that it came out like 20 years ago. Find something more recent to poke fun at so people get the jokes.

Well to be perfectly honest, its not only youth that watch this show. Especially since its been out 10 years now. And besides, I don't think anyone really cares that it was based on a movie from 20 years ago. I've never seen Stand and Deliver but I still got the point of the parody, even if I didn't know a specific movie, how many other "Teacher helps innercity students" movies have their been? Plus the real joke on that part of the episode was the stuff with the Patriots, and that abortion joke, that had me outta my seat. "Cheat that little critter right outta a chance at life!"

Dracula

True. Another director's episode would be nice, and not just one mocking the "quality" named directors.

Not to say I wouldn't mind watching one based on Eragon. Although the movie was a slightly anticipated, big flopping mess, I don't think it garnered enough attention that they'd bother. It came and went really.

that wasnt too bad of an episode.

is it just me or has south park gotten more violent with the whole head shot thing?

The whole episode was kind of a parody of die hard. And one of the scenes was of a guy getting shot in the head.

Yeah... kinda weird. Killing the roots if you ask me.

screw the roots, the show is a lot better recently than it was in the first 3-4 seasons. The fact that they aren't killing off Kenny shows that they're not tied to pointless dogma after it gets tired, that's why the show has lasted this long without a shark jump.

I didn't say one way or another.
They stopped doing it routinely after he died "for real" and then came back.

I'm not sure what it has to do with the quality of the show, though, again one way or another. He still dies in episodes on occasion, the most recent one being the season 11 finale (just last November).

Season 12 has been extremely subpar so far in my opinion.

All seasons have their great episodes, but they are not consistant. I'd have to say that season 10 was pretty good. There were 3 episodes that I would rate as just average with the other 11 being rated above average and higher.

haha sorry but it's a cartoon. There are many unbelievable things on this show, not just her staying alive with only half a head. The mayor shoots herself in the head in one episode, and is seen in the next one with a bandage on it, but she's still functioning normally.

Plus wasn't the message that Americans try and act like we're much more sophisticated in that we don't do as violent stuf anymore, yet it seems Matt and Trey were saying that we still do things like put celebrities worst times on nation tv and national magazines. Like Stan and Kyle were arguing, people should just leave her alone.

Then they referenced that story with "the lottery" and sacrifices and stuff. I don't remember the name though, I haven't read it in awhile.
