It's a toss up for me between Pearl Jam's Vitalogy and Alice In Chains' Jar of Flies. Most of the classic rock that I listen to is on the radio.

Such a classic, one of the best, if not THE best, American album ever released. I actually did a speech comparing Beatles and Beach Boys influence on American culture in the 60s, you'd be surprised how much competition there was between the two (especially between Paul McCartney and Brian Wilson).

By the way Brock, have you listened to the Smile album Brian Wilson released back in September?

I know. If I remember correctly Brian Wilson got the inspiration to attempt his album "Pet Sounds" because of Rubber Soul. Add this to the fact that Paul McCartney considers "God Only Knows" the greatest song of all-time and that "Pet Sounds" the album eventually inspired The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Well, "Revolver" also inspired Brian to write "SMiLE", but that's a long history.

I've done my homework. Pretty impressive for 16, eh? ;)

Yeah, I got SMiLE for Christmas. It's great, though I think it would have been better suited with The Beach Boys instead of Brian + some backup band. I think the magic was lost over time and the SMiLE mythos was too much hype. But overall, great album.

Yeah I thought the exact same. I think my expectations were too high and some of the tracks seemed kinda hokey (Vega-Tables?) but some of the songs are really good (Child Is The Father Of The Man, the new Surfs Up). Definitely an album to listen to a few times, but it's really good.

Yeah, it's not as accessible as Pet Sounds, even though it took me three to four listens to really get in to Pet Sounds. I think the problem many people have with "Pet Sounds" is that it IS NOT regular Beach Boys material, the "fun, fun, fun in the sun" theme has been thrown out. I think that's why many people get discouraged by it. On the other hand I've discovered that it's a masterpiece and I find myself relating to it more and more in this stage of my life(Being 16, getting close to 17).

Yeah, transitioning from Sounds of Summer to Pet Sounds was kinda.....weird. Almost two different sounds at some points. But then again, look what happens, it turns out to be their most well known/classic album. Go figure.

yep your right sir

Alternately known by original fans as "Weezer's 1st Album", The Kitchen Tape was actually recorded in the garage (the garage) of Weezer's home in Los Angeles in the early August of 1992. For the best sounding recording, however, they found that recording the drums in the kitchen was the best option. Hence, the demo is dubbed 'The Kitchen Tape.' Only 12 copies of the demo were made. These mp3's are 320kbps rips of a CDR burned from one of the original copies in Weezer's posession. (...They're near-perfect quality.)
