Anyone reading this mini? First two were great (if a tad confusing for me), but I've heard something about #3 that I don't like, and I bet will tick off lots of fans...
Kyle Rayner was my first GL, and I don't want him to be written off. But I read Green Lantern: The Road Back, and I look forward to seeing more of Hal now. It's a cool book that puts the 'hero' before the 'super,' yet still ends with a battle for the fate of the galaxy.
I lost track of GL a few years ago. When did Hal Jordan stop being the Spectre? Is he just a normal human again now? And who in the world would give him back the GL ring after that whole, ya know, almost destroying the galaxy thing?
I always thought Hal was a little boring, Kyle was more relatable.

(I feel out of date as I'm certian issue 3 is out now! :redface)
As of #2, Hal is still the Spectre, but something is up with the GL rings...like using them makes the bearer go evil. John almost gouges out Superman's eyes at Coast City when the League confronts Hal...
Kilowog (when did he come back?!) shows up and tries to kill Kyle who's afraid to use his ring to even conjure up a bandage, much less defend himself...
And Green Arrow's GL ring, and old gift from Hal, duplicates itself and flys to Guy (GUY!), who blasts the Leaguers who were trying to save his life on the watchtower...
-side note...doofy haircut or not, without the 'bowl head' Guy don't look quite right in his old GL uniform!
And the whole while Kyle's ring keeps repeating, 'PARALLAX IS COMING.'
And it ends with Ganthet saving Kyle and ordering Kilowog to back off as the box Kyle was guarding from him comes open - Parallax's coffin. "Hal Jordan's soul may reside within the Spectre, but his BODY is under the care of the Guardians!"

I've read the 3rd one. It dissapointed me a bit. The Idea of Parallax actually been a demon SUCKS. I loved the evil Hal. The cool part is how they connected the yellow weakness with Parallax that was cool. The bad part is Guy gurner returning as a GL corp.. Hal was, behind Superman, my fav hero. I started with Reign of Supermen and then I kept buy some of the major GL events like Emerald Dawn, The whole Kyle series including Emerald Knights, The Final Night, Parallx View and some of the Guy Gardner.
BTW, I haven't read Green Lantern : Road Back what is it about?

TRB is an early 90s story about what Hal John and Guy do after the Guardians leave this plane of existence to be with their mates. (the WHY, I dunno....?). And what causes them to come back and rebuild the Corps...
(and what happened to the Corps the first time I'm not too clear on either. Two trades, Emerald Dawn I and II, precede it, and would probably clear things up....)

I really loved the third issue, can't wait for the 4th.
It's the only way Hal could've been brought back... you can't have a mass murderer as a DC hero on the JLA, even if he's sorry for what he did. The way Geof Johns is handling it is the only way it could've been done.
That's the main thing I was worried about when this series started... how would they bring Hal back after all the bad he did?

I thought the fact that Hal was ...lets say ....possesed by parallax took all the charm and attraction of the character. I liked his reaction coz it was simple and truly believeable. Of course, the after events with the Zero Hour and JLA and GL...were not right but...I loved evil Hal. BTW, I've seen an action figure of Parallax and another one of Hal as GL, maybe they r thinking in keeping Parallax as a new Hal's nemesis.

The latest issue=SWEET!!!! I loved seeing Ollie use the ring, and even though all he could conjure was one arrow, it was done very well....the anger in his face as he forced every ounce of will in the ring...the fire (literally) in his eyes.....and the burning 'lantern' on his chest as he let fly!
I wonder something...does the world at large know Hal is Green Lantern now? He seemed pretty loose about his ID back when John and Guy were still the Corps, and since his death? Or has Superman and Green Arrow proven that death isn't permanent, they need to keep the secret? With Metropolis devastated, I actually read how Clark Kent was 'found and saved' when Superman came back. But what was the reasoning of NOT letting the world in on the secret...other than the pretty good reason of foes getting revenge on loved ones I guess...
