As of now these are the standings.

BOS leads ANA 2-0
MIN and NYY 1-1
HOU leads ATL 1-0
STL leads LA 1-0

Boston is my pick to win it all. They are destroying the Angels. I so hope Minesotta can elminate the Yankees. I hate the Yankees more than anything on this earth. Last nights game was hoorid. They left in the pitcher too long giving the Yanks a chance to comeback. Minnesota still has a chance though. Houston will beat the Braves and the Cardinals will beat the Dodgers. It will be Boston vs St.Louis in the Wrold series.

i like the picks with the exception of the braves houston outcome. even if houston is the hottest team right now what atlanta had to do to make the playoffs was just as remarkable. they had one of the best records(if not the best) in the second half. they have decent pitching to get them through and there offense should do just fine, espically in minute maid park

Glordreen
10-07-2004, 03:50 PM
Atlanta always makes the playoffs but never go anywhere. They have won their division like 13 straight times and have won the World Series once. atlanta may beat Houston (not likely), but they are definatley not going to the World Series.

I agree with Diablo, the red sox can still win, they just have to take it one game at atime. Anyways, Pedro is oitching tonight, and if they win, then Curt is pitcing game 6. The red sox just have to find their groove and start hitting the ball. They have the offense to score at will.

I think the sox can pull it off. So waht theynlost the first two games in NY. The sox have won games in NY before, and if my memory serves me correct, weren't the sox losing the series last year when game 6 was played in NY and they won to force game 7. The sox can do it again, they have the momentum now.

OMG, watching the last three games I thought I was watching the sequel to the movie Miracle. Tonight's game is just like the US vs. the Russians. The Sox have been down but they have clawed their way back. Playing for 4 straight days and now 5 has to be taking a toll on the players. At 8 eastern tonight I will be tuning in to see if the comeback of all comebacks comes true. Who would have thought after that drubbing Saturday night that the Bullpen for Boston would shut down the Yankees and force a game 7. I am not asking this to die-hard Sox fans because I know you always believe but I am asking this of other baseball fans who have watched this all play out.

My Pick to go to the world series Boston vs. Houston

HOUSTON RULES!!!!!

You got Biggio then Beltran, Bagwell, Berkman, Viscaino, and Ausmus, and Monroe...Yep, that's the Astros! And they are going to win!!!!

OMG!!! This is freaking amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Red Sox are winning tonight. They will make history again!!!! GO SOX!!!!

Derek Lowe will most like be starting for Boston and Kevin Brown for the Yankees. But both will most likely not pitch for more than three innings.

vader519
10-20-2004, 10:33 AM
I told you so. All the red sox are doingis taking it one game at a time. That was the yankees mistake, they thought they had the sox beat, and began to look ahead to the world series. I hope the sox pull it off. Asfor who is pitching tongiht, wedon not know yet. First it was Wakefield vs Brwon, but then they sia d it was Lowe and El Duque, so it is anyone's guess.

Andy_R
10-20-2004, 10:42 AM
What do you guys think about that play at 1st base w/ A-ROD?
Clearly he knocked the ball out of the glove intentionally. The umpires eventually made the right call and said A-ROD was out.
Yankee fans threw a hissy fit.

Glordreen
10-20-2004, 11:56 AM
Yankee fans can go screw themselves. They made the right call, and thats all there is to it. Same with Bellhorns 3-run homer.

Its funny, cause when the Sox were down 3-0, I thought that maybe this was just so that they could make the greatest comeback in history, but then discarded the thought, now look.

Skinny
10-20-2004, 11:56 AM
The play at first base was ridiculous on the part of the baserunner (A-Rod)... According to Section 6 or whatever in the umpire's rulebook, a baserunner cannot use his HANDS AND OR FEET to forcefully knock the ball out and or the player who is going to make the tag... basically speaking

Quagmire04374
10-20-2004, 03:57 PM
Well what everyone is forgetting is that Doug Meincavich (however u spell it) was blocking firstbase. That is interferance as well. He should have been safe. I am a diehard Yankee fan! Lets Go Yankees!

The tag was, well, 'attempted', before he was even near first base, that's when Arod swiped the glove of Arroyo, so where Mencavich was standing is totally irrelevant.

If BoSox win, it will be one of the great sport stories of all time. If the Yanks win, oh well, big whoop, they always win. Btw, I think the Yanks will win, but I'm praying they don't.

They started debating on who was the most passionate. As they climbed the argument grew. At the very tip of the narrow and steep mountain, the Yankee fan said:

"I am so die hard for the Yankees, none can come closer!" and with a loud scream he yelled, "THIS IS FOR THE YANKEES!" and he dove off the mountain never to be seen again.

Not going to let a Yankee out "fan" him, the Red Sox fan yelled out: "THIS IS FOR THE RED SOX!!" and he too, jumped off the cliff. The Astro fan, upset by both took a deep breath...sighed...and with all the voice in him, with all the power he had yelled out,

So there it stands:

THE 2004 WORLD SERIES:

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS vs. BOSTON RED SOX

Place your bets everybody :P

I think itis going to be a great series. These are two historic teams going out, both haven't been in the world series for about 18 years, and it is going to be a battle of the top two scoring teams in MLB. I am going for the sox to win.

Skinny
10-22-2004, 12:29 PM
Analyzing this series, Both teams are VERY similar to each other in terms of offense, but I feel that the advantage in this years WS is the Boston Red Sox because they got Schilling who's heating up right now... Pitching is certainly gonna tell the tale in this series (as it does in every major series), however, pitching is gonna be a HUGE component of who's gonna end up on top

Glordreen

Red Sox in 6

Better pitching and offense. And their my favortie team.

10-23-2004, 09:30 AM
Like skinny said, it is going to come down to who makes the big plays and who has the better pitching. I am a liitle nervous that David rtiz is going to play first base when they go to St. Louis, but he will be fine.

10-24-2004, 04:39 PM
What a mess of a game last night. At least Boston got the W.

Skinny

So far:

BOTTOM of 4th:

ST. LOUIS: 1
BOSTON: 4

2 more runs on a Mark Bellhorn double

Kitty
10-24-2004, 11:20 PM
Final Score:

Red Sox 6
Cardinals 2

and so far in the World Series it seems that the Red Sox are in the lead, 2-0. Can the Cardinals catch up to them on time? Or will the Sox break the curse? We'll see in these games to come..

Go Bosox. I'm predicting that St. Louis will win two out of three at home and they will go back to Fenway and Boston will finish it off.

That sounds about right. I hate Albert Pujols so I want it to be all his fault that St. Louis loses, which they will.

Normally I could care less who wins the world series (as long as it's not the Yankees).
But it's hard not to root for the Sox this year.

Game 3 Final Score:

Red Sox better not pull a Yankee ;)

10-27-2004, 08:40 AM
If that happened that would be an ultimate example of the curse.

vader519
10-27-2004, 09:35 AM
I don't think the red sox will pull a yankee. Unlike the yankees, the red sox are serious right now, and want to end the series. Their motto is we take pitch by pitch, inning by inning. They take one pitch at a time and one inning at a time, and they also repsect the cards. The yankees on the other hand, began to celebrate in game 4 when the red sox still had three outs left. HTe red sox know that the cards can come back because they did it, so they know it isn't over yet. Today is a new day and a new game.

chewie
10-27-2004, 10:37 AM
I don't think the Sox could lose with Schilling and Pedro pitching again, but they don't call them curses for nothing.

Glordreen
10-27-2004, 11:47 AM
St.Louis can not do anything. They were shutdown last night, and they will again tonight. Sox are winning tonight. WORLD SERIES CHAMPS!

Glordreen
10-27-2004, 11:48 AM
And after winning tonight, they will have broken the record for the most consecutive wins in postseason history.

Four passionate baseball fans were climbing up a mountain. A Red Sox fan, a Yankee fan, A Cardinals fan, and an Astros fan. The four kept babbling and arguing about how much they like their teams.

"THIS IS FOR THE HOUSTON ASTROS!!" and without further adu, he pushed the Cardinals fan off the cliff.

GO ASTROS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nuh uh, you completely rewrote that joke! The Red Sox fan has to push the Yankees fan off the cliff for the good of humanity. And it's spelled "adieu", my friend!
