I can do without the alligators, I'm not worried about the rest. :)

Nope :D. Would you like another drink? How are you doing?
I went swimming early today and spent over 2 hours in the pool. I didn't put any sunblock on and now I have a sunburn covering my neck, shoulders and all of my back, maybe even the tops of my feet too. :( Oh well, I'll live. Usually I don't go into the pool until after 4 o' clock.

yes i would love another drink ...thank you...you are funny ...we know to be careful with sun here but it is easy to get burned....i know i skip going to the beach in the middle of the day...i love it early in the morning though very peaceful...*sips the last of her drink*......

Here's your drink: *hands a cold one to krullglaive*
At least if the beach is on the ocean, it's cooler because of the breeze. Inland, there's little escape from the heat except of course air conditioning and pools.
krullglaive
07-27-2004, 04:10 PM
thank you gnarley....yes the ocean breeze does help.... ac is something i don't think i could live without...the pool is good but ac rules....*looks around* do you feel we are the only two that comes to this bar....hmmmm i wonder is something wrong with us?? did i run them off when i entered ?? i hope not ..maybe i should leave.....*sips beer and wonders*

Your welcome. It's not you and there's nothing wrong with us. Possibly everyone spends more time in all the other threads like this, there's one in practically evey forum here. I prefer these quiet, out of the way places anyway.:)

i know i came to this bar because it was quieter...i use to go to another and i still do just not as much now *sips drink thinking coffee would be more appropriate*....i just feel bad though because ..i know Todd and Flukeman use to come and they haven't even shown up ..its like i am the plaque..hehe *listens to sad song playing in the background*

I can't say why nobody else comes here anymore but it's not because of you. I reread the pages where you first started posting here and everyone was talking with you. I don't see anything that was posted by you or anyone else, that would cause everyone to leave and not come back. So, don't worry about it. If you want to continue chatting with me here, I'm more than willing to keep talking with you. :)

Mostly I'm found in the Green Dragon in the LOTR forum, but I've been stepping out into the Community one a bit.
gnarley
08-03-2004, 10:40 PM
I barely go into either of those forums. I do love LOTR though and I did read the books last November. I have a question about the FOTR, who exactly is Tom Bombadil? When I read the books, I glossed over that part. In fact I almost gave up on the books but I kept reading them and really got into them as the story went along. It was just some of the changes and parts left out threw me off. I think I would have enjoyed the books more if I read them before seeing the movies.

No, weekends are mostly the same as weekdays for me. I'm good how are you?
It was really cool today, the temp only rose to 92 this afternoon and the pool was cooold. BRR!! but it was refreshing in it's way.
And I found the answer to my own question about Tom Bombadil. I just typed his name in Yahoo! search and found some sites that helped.

hey krull and gnarley :)
I live about 2-3 hours from the ocean, depending on which direction I want to go in. I haven't gotten there as much as I would have liked so far, every year it seems like I get there less and less.
Our neighbors have a pool I can use but I rarely go in. Not enough time I guess.
gnarley
08-12-2004, 10:39 PM
Hi Krull and Fluke,
The ocean is around 2 hours away from me too. Glad I have the pool! Because of my work, I don't have the time to go out like I'd like to, so I watch DVDs and surf the net til 2-3 AM. I'm trying to get to bed earlier but something always comes up. Last night I kept waking up off and on all night and the night before I was awakened when a spider crawled on me. I'd like to read more but don't have the time, in fact the last books I read were the LOTR trilogy and the Harry Potter series last Nov when my old comp died.

Glad to hear you're ok krull! It must have been so scary. We've a few hurricanes up here, but the ones I've been through have been relatively mild. I can't imagine what it must be like being in the middle of 100 mph winds and rain.
*passes krull a strong drink*
here, you might need this.
krullglaive
08-14-2004, 03:26 PM
thank you fluke.. i can use that drink..i think every hurricane i have to go through is scary even the small ones .. they are so stressfull... i finally found out everyone i know is ok so i feel alot better ..now it is clean up time..that isnt fun either..*gulps drink* hope you are well and safe...and you too gnarley...
gnarley
08-15-2004, 11:29 PM
Welcome back krull, glad you're safe. I take it you didn't evacuate and leave the state or anything, what did you do to protect yourself? I can experience 70-80 mph winds with gusts up to 100 mph in late winter through spring but nothing like those in hurricanes. On the rare occasion, I can get a slight taste of hurricanes as they move up the coast and heads out into the Pacific.
*buys krull another drink*
krullglaive
08-16-2004, 01:06 PM
i am not in an evacuate zone so usually if i board up the windows and prepare i am ok..of course if it is above a category 4 no one knows...i go to my hall with my pets and hope for the best...we were lucky this time...hurricanes are scary ....we in florida know that hurricane season is coming but it is always something we dread
thank you for the drink , gnarley * sips drink and thinks she is glad to be back with friends*
gnarley
08-16-2004, 11:23 PM
Your welcome krull. Glad to know that you and your friends are all ok. At least with hurricanes, you have time to prepare or the evacuate if you have to. We get earthquakes and there isn't any warning for when they will strike. They can happen at any time, last only a few minutes and cause just as much damage as a hurricane.
krullglaive
08-17-2004, 10:03 PM
gnarley, i think earthquakes are the worst...i feel really bad for you...we have it better...the warning does help...i see pictures of the earthquakes and it breaks my heart...i hope you dont have one...* gives gnarley a drink just to help ease his mind * battling the insects is bad enough....how are you by the way?? lol ..we are depressing.....giggles
gnarley
08-17-2004, 10:59 PM
Thanks for the drink and I'm doing good. The big earthquakes that cause all the damage are few and far between so I don't worry about them. When they do strike though, they can be both exciting and scary until the damage reports come in then they can be sad and depressing. Actually there are quakes everyday, we just can't feel most of them since they are so tiny.
krullglaive
08-21-2004, 11:09 AM

gnarley
08-21-2004, 11:06 PM
Thanks... no need for the ID check, all the grey hair on my head points to the fact that I'm of drinking age. :(
Indy comes here but he doesn't stick around long, always travelling the world looking for lost artifacts. :)

I'm good, how are you?
It turned cold here, it's usually 102 but this last week it's been in the low 80's. The cooler temp has made the pool ice cold, so I haven't been swimming. We have a pretty good cold breeze outside (nature's air conditioning :) ).
krullglaive
08-28-2004, 02:43 PM

gnarley
08-29-2004, 12:42 AM
What's the temp where you are? It warmed up to the low 90's today but we turned off the pump and will drain it soon. :( Once the water turns ice cold, it doesn't warm up again.
Glad you're fine. *buys a round for everyone*:D

08-29-2004, 08:00 PM

gnarley
08-30-2004, 12:00 AM
Your welcome and you can have the humidity.

Gnarley says to him, " Krullglaives been looking forward to meeting you but she's not here right now."
*Indy asks gnarley to tell krull that maybe they'll meet next time he's in town, then he downs his drink and tells gnarley that he's off to South America for a few months. Tips his hat and heads out the door*

No mining but I finally got to go see Spider-man 2. Things are going pretty good, after getting back from the movie, I scraped the soapscum off the shower tiles with a razor blade. It's the best way to remove that stuff and I have to do more of it tomorrow. :( All part of the job.

Whew!!... welcome back! I was really worried about you. :) I'm ok but some scientist had predicted a major earthquake that was supposed to happen by Labour Day, turned out to be a false alarm. I'm very glad that I don't have to go through what you have to.
How long is hurricane season and how many do you get each year?

Here have another drink on me, you need it.
The prediction was nothing but there's no sense worrying about them. If it happens it happens, though I did move my DVD collection lower to the ground to be on the safe side. :D Earthquakes are nothing compared to what you go through. Take care of yourself.

Sorry I've been away - krull, are you doing okay? How is cleanup going?
Gnarley, that's scary about the earthquake, just waiting to see if it happens. There isn't really much you can do since you can't see it coming :( Good thing it didn't happen.

Hi flukeman and krull.
When's the next one coming, krull? Geez, haven't you guys been through enough already? I may have to send you a keg, :D your nerves must be pretty much shot by now.
Earthquakes can be pretty scary, especially the ones that strike in the middle of the night. Everything starts to shake and the ground feels like its rolling and the farther you are from the epicenter, the longer they seem to last. Usually I ignore the predictions but this one was made by a scientist. There have been many prediction, including having most of California sinking into the ocean but they never happen. Wouldn't mind having beach front property though. ;) :D
Here's a link to an article about the prediction if you're interested:

Well, you know... you could always borrow a dolly ;), much easier on your back than carrying it. I'm glad the hurricane is turning away from you but there's still too many people dead from it.

I see too much grey, in fact my bedroom walls are grey with darker grey trim, plus my carpet is grey with white horizontal and vertical lines covering a painted grey concrete floor. Everything else in my place is basically variations of brown, including the outdoors in which I see brown sand, dirt, bushes and mountains.:( There's some green and an almost constant blue sky. I NEED MORE COLOUR!! :D

i feel sorrow for those who have been affected by this hurricane ..i wish we could stop having them now...all natural disasters are horrible

Flowers and pillows... Blah!! We have sun almost 10 months a year and very hot summers. In the late winter/spring, we get very strong and cold winds. The sage brush is green until summertime then turns brown like everything else. :(

*sips drink * thanks for the drink gnarley

09-14-2004, 10:42 PM
I was thinking more along the lines of flames and skulls ;):D.
The wind can be ice cold and blows lots of sand and dust everywhere. Sagebrush is like the stuff in cowboy movies but tumbleweeds are worse, they have these thorn like pieces that easily come off. You don't want to grab a tumbleweed and stepping on the thorns with bare or socked feet is no picnic. No. I'm not a cowboy :), I'm an archeologist/adventurer... no, wait... that's Indy. :D

I'm in Massachusetts - it's starting to get a little cool here now, like in the 60s. It'll get colder and colder until it starts snowing in maybe last November, and then we get winter until April. Below zero windchills and all that. Then it's spring for a little bit, then it's summer and it's pretty hot. So we get all 4 seasons :)

How could you think deserts are pretty? They're ugly, brown and full of sand, spiders, scorpions and rattlesnakes. Plus it's blazing hot during the summer and warm in the winter until the wind kicks up. Well... at least I don't get your humidity. I used to live in the Pacific Northwest, it used to rain almost 9 months out of the year, or so it seemed, and heavily too. Also used to get snow for 2 weeks per year. Man I miss it :(
I never been farther east than Vegas and Saskatoon. The winters must be harsh there. I prefer the west coast though, except that we are 3 hours behind the east coast. You guys get to see new TV shows before we do.

I didn't know if you guys knew whether it was Kansas or not. The only thing close to a classical album I ever purchased was the original soundtrack to Star Wars (*ahem* on vinyl *ahem*) and on side B was the score to 2001:a Space Odessey. Right now I have Credence Clearwater Revival: 20 Greatest Hits in my CD player and now I've only been watching the VH-1 Classics channel on TV. My love for new music slowly died after the 90's ended.

I'd rather they not make it but then I'm curious to see what the movie will be like, if made. River Phoenix showed that he could be a very good Indy (although a young one), so it is possible to replace Ford. While I do think Ford is getting too old for the role, I'm more worried about his health. He injured his knee on the Fugitive and he might not be able to perform Indy style stunts anymore. I never gave much thought on who could replace Ford, so I'll have to think about it some more but I'm leaning towards ending the series when Ford calls it quits.
Mmmm... cheeeese :)
Krull, I changed my sig, avatar, profile and custom title to a Futurama theme. It's one of my favourite shows. The quotes in my sig are from the episode "Roswell That Ends Well" but if you watch the show then you already know this. :D

he doesnt have to do stunts, thats what stunt men and cgi is for!
gnarley
09-22-2004, 10:54 PM
But he did a lot of his own stunts in the Indy trilogy, including being dragged behind the truck during the desert truck chase in Raiders. Movie companies are relying too heavily on CGI, which the Indy movies never used. When you use the actor instead of stuntmen, there's an added level of believability. That being said, Ford wasn't fighting on the conveyor belt in TOD, Harrison had a back injury so a Stuntman was used. I still prefer the stunts and effects be done the same way as before.

The effects back then were excellent and they still hold up well, while CGI can look too obviously animated and is overused. Practical effects shouldn't be abandoned completely. I think Spielberg and Lucas will keep the CGI to a bare minimum in Indy 4, practical effects seem to fit the style of movie serials better.

I don't mind fruit and cheese, just not together.
Will you be needing another keg to help you through the next hurricane? Maybe you could use another stool.
*wonders if Shirley Temples come in kegs or if krull needs something stronger*

What's best is if you bake brie, then drizzle it with honey and almonds, and then eat with French bread and fruit. Yum! :)
*looks around*
No? OK then, more for me :)
gnarley
09-24-2004, 09:39 PM
Something that tastes good but is simple to make is sliced bananas and strawberries mixed together in a bowl. Another great dessert with fruit is cornstarch pudding. You could either mix the fruit in while cooking it or put sliced fruit pieces layered in your bowl and then add the pudding. :) :)

09-24-2004, 11:02 PM
yum i want all of it..*gathers up food * this will be good for the hurricane

krullglaive
09-28-2004, 10:17 PM
i was worried ..i am glad you are ok...you need to watch out for those trains though..
thanks for the drink.* sips drink*.. i have had alot to clean ..a big oak tree fell on my neighbors house and a pine tree cracked and half fell on my fence ... across the street another tree fell and huge limbs are everywhere ..it was bad . .. i dont want anymore now..i have had enough
oh no i just heard you might have one in the next 7 days..oh no...i get a break and now you...oh i hope not...i better get you drink or a stool....*runs to find chocolate milk*...hope you will be ok...
gnarley
09-28-2004, 11:05 PM
The mess could have been a lot worse for you, the tree could have fallen on your place or YOU!!!
I can't escape the trains, the tracks are right across the street from me (hopefully I'm not on the wrong side :D ) and the conductors blast the train's horns every night at the same time, like clockwork. The also screech the brakes for a long period of time making a godawful sound.
krullglaive
09-28-2004, 11:14 PM
you are funny ..hopefully you arent on the wrong side of the tracks ...are you teasing me...do you really live by a train and does all that noise happen if so poor gnarley..you need ear plugs. * runs to find ear plugs*..how can you sleep? do you have one of those machines that makes whale sounds while you sleep ...that could drowned out the train sounds ..hehe ...
gnarley
09-29-2004, 10:34 PM
It's true, the train tracks are on the other side of the Highway (about 50 ft.) directly across from me. You get used to the noise eventually. I went to my brother's place and it was so quiet, I couldn't believe it. Mostly they are freight trains, though once a passenger train went by. There was even a Ringling Bros/Barnum & Bailey Circus train that came through my town, didn't see any animals but there were passenger cars, and storage containers.
krullglaive
09-30-2004, 11:40 AM
so.... gnarley, if you get tired of your life you good jump on the train and be a hobo or better yet a person in the circus ...do you have an act ? hehe... any earthquakes there ?....still hearing about them on the news .....
looks like it is just us again gnarley ...*looks around * hello.. hello ..yup just us
gnarley.. have you ever just looked at the train and thought wouldnt it be nice to get on that train and never look back.....hehe.. well it is an idea.....

There was a 6.0 quake up near S.F. the other day but I didn't feel it.
Hmmm, a hobo's life for me...... I would head north to Alaska while fighting off other hoboes and train Conductors, I'd barely eat til I got there and suffer through freezing cold nights. It would take me about a month to get there then I would win enough money playing cards to buy a cabin and a gold claim. I would then spend months panning for gold in an icy stream (or river) while fighting off bears and bandits, with the help of my half dog/half wolf companion... wait... nevermind... I'm thinking partly of the movie White Fang... :D
*goes to jukebox and selects Kenny Rogers' The Gambler*

I've been to Vegas a few times but won $230 on a slot only once, I've also been to Indian Casinos where I won a little here and there but only at Bingo. I've grown tired of the one-arm bandits, though they can be fun to play. The Addams Family, Monopoly and Wheel of Fortune are the most fun. I don't play poker, don't have luck when it comes to money and there's no point to worrying about quakes. Hoboes on the other hand.....

I used to play a lot of free online slot games but I got very bored with them. It was basically click, spin, click, spin.... so now I play other games. I also gave up on one site because of the way people were acting, like they were still in Jr. High. A bunch of married people fighting with other players over each other. Drove me nuts.
Did you go on a cruise? How was it? Did you meet Isaac and Gopher? :D

Or maybe... green?:D You should keep your avatar, I like it and it seems to suit you very well. What's it from? She must be from some kind of anime series or movie, I'm not too familiar with that art form. Though I did watch Star Blazers and Speed Racer when I was younger but that's about it.
I've loved Mr. Reeve's work since I first watched the original Superman movie. He brought so much humanity, dignity, compassion and depth to the character. His performance is the best representation of Superman ever and he was so believable in the role. He always came across as an outstanding human being and I'm saddened by his loss. He's the first celebrity since Kurt Cobain to make me feel this way at their passing.
I only know the 5,6,7,8's from the Kill Bill movies. Do you know their music a lot?
krullglaive
10-14-2004, 01:07 PM
yes she is ..i really dont know much about anime but i love the art ..she is so perfect for me...i have other pics of her too... i really only think of her as krull ...
i agree.. he was an outstanding role model and will continue to be .. it is very sad
i only have heard the 5 6 7 8s in this one song ..i just played it because it sounds happy and silly ..kinda like i feel most of the time... are you a happy silly type? do you giggle or roll with laughter?...guess which i do..* sips drink and holds back a giggle or laugh*

For the most part I'm a happy silly kind of person I guess but not a giggler. Occasionally you'll find me rolling on the floor laughing. The last few days I've been listening to CCR alot. *gets up and plays Proud Mary on the juke box*
"Took a job in the city... working for the man every night and day...... The only time I ever seen the good side of the city was on the deck of a Riverboat Queen.... Big Wheels keep on turnin.. Proud Mary keep on burnin.......rollin...rollin on the river........"

hope you have a great weekend ...doing anything special??
hey todd and flukeman wherever you are...

No rivers, just a highway, train tracks and an ocean of sand and dirt. We're hooked up to city water, which you can only drink if it's filtered. We have what's referred to as hard water, it's very corrosive to the plumbing. As for the weekend, I'll be digging up weeds and sagebrush because it's too close to the building. It's a fire hazard. Are you doing anything interesting?
I was looking up krullglaive in yahoo search last night and only one reply came up. Your screen name here and these boards.

Is the krull you're talking about a fantasy movie, where the main character has a 5 bladed weapon that he can throw like a boomerang and he fights a giant spider? I saw this movie in the theaters a long time ago. I just don't remember too much about it? The way you were talking, I thought the girl in your avatar was called krull. I went with gnarley because I couldn't think of anything better but I like it.

Welcome to the Ravenwood twaas1.
Indy has been known to drop in every now and then, and I have it on good authority that he could be here on wednesday. ;):)
Thanks for the drink but I think I'll have hot chocolate instead. It rained all day and I haven't lit the heater yet.

I'm not 100% positive that he'll be here then but it sure looks like it. I think the bartender/owner is travelling with Indy but Mildred is still here. ;)... Mmmm... this hot chocolate is good. Anybody else want one?

I will have one
Here you go, enjoy. * hands twaas a cup of hot chocolate*
*Just then Indy stumbles in the door, orders a drink and crashes in a booth at the back of the bar... looks around and says hi and tells everyone how tired he is... then he slowly falls asleep while waiting for krull...*
