You know, ever since I got laid off I've been watching a TON of The X-Files lately. There's like 3 hours of it on everynight with TBS and Sci-Fi. I used to watch it every week up until the 5th season and then I just kinda got into other things (like beer). But now I'm obsessed with it again. Watching it now that the show is over is kind of a trip. I can't really believe that it isn't still being made. Like my mind can't comprehend a world that doesn't have new X-Files on.
Does anyone else still really dig this show? I know alot of people think it's stupid but they are haters so screw them. j/k

The X-Files is awesome. I sort of lost it during the last year, but reruns have and synopses have filled me in. I really wish it hadn't ended, it's one of my favorite shows.

I really started to like The X-Files all too late. The show pretty much started going downhill when Duchovny quit. However, since that was around the time I started watching the show in earnest, I didn't really mind or notice. Eventually, I got to see some of the older episodes in reruns, and all was well. I could see why they would want to cancel the show. It had a healthy run, and I'm pretty sure they didn't want to milk the dry cow, so to speak (not to say that X-Files was getting dry). Although I didn't like the lack of true resolution in the final episodes. I guess all that will be taken care of in the second movie (which ComingSoon! mentioned ages ago, but nothing has been taked of or revealed about it since:().

The first five (filmed in Vancouver) was great TV. Once the show moved to LA, something happened. Quality dropped. Characters died. The mystery was gone. Went past it's prime. Season Eight had the perfect way to end the show, even after a rough season. But they went ahead with Season Nine. I'll eventually pick up the DVDs, but I don't have $1000 to spend on those DVDs right now.
The Lone Gunmen was also great. But Fox moved the show to Fridays and then cancelled it. Didn't help that the premiere episode was about a plane crashing into the Twin Towers and that the American Govt was behind it.

slinger: The Lone Gunmen's pilot aired before the events of 9/11, so you can't blame them for something they didn't know would happen. In any case, the plane in The Lone Gunmen pilot didn't crash into towers of any kind, thanks to the Octium IV.
Other than that, Lone Gunmen was great. At least they got their last hurrah in The X-Files' series finale.

Yeah I know but it would be hard to get the shows to rerun on FX or Sci-Fi or on DVD for new viewers. There was talk of the show moving to FX but that never happened.

Me too. Way to expensive.
I loved The Lone Gunmen too. It ws good fun, shame they canceled it. Fox should really release it on DVD, I would buy it.

Interesting tidbit (from IMDb):
The pilot episode aired in Australia on 11 September 2001. Given the time difference between the US and Australia, the late timeslot allocated to "The Lone Gunmen" on Australian TV meant that only minutes after the show had aired, the first live images of the actual 9/11 terror attack on the WTC began being broadcast.

That is something.
Truth is stranger than fiction.

Imagine how chilling it would be to be watching the show at that moment.

I too got into the show late, but I really enjoy all teh reruns on the various channels. I would have the DVDs if they weren't so expensive.
BTW, did you guys here about the new game coming out? "The X-Files: Resist or Serve" coming out in February I think.
