Seems like the cool new thing on TV.
Most are kind of like long movies that are airing on TV (they don't look like "TV" movies)
So far the ones I know about:
Angels in America on hBO
Horatio Hornblower on A&E
Traffic on USA
I'm sure there are more.
What do you guys think about these? I'm kind of excited for a lot of these - they look like they are well made, and all seem interesting. Save me from watching more Crap-ality TV.

Steven Speilburg and Tom Hanks are developing another WWII mini-series for HBO centered around the action of the Pacific Theater. I cannot wait!!!

Do You have A&E or USA? Those two miniseries sound great too.

Or maybe they are more interested in making compelling stories of great heroism in horrific times by the average man instead of the latest rap gangsta video.

Actually saw Horatio Hornblower last night...sort of by accident as I was flipping through the channels and I thought for some reason that Mater and Commander was on TV.
I was quite impressed, actually. A&E managed to pull off the whole historical fiction thing w/out airing on the side of boring.

I heard about Traffic! I saw a couple of previews and it looks really good. Are there any main actors in it that I would know? And when does it start?

Really cool trailer - this looks like a movie more then a tv show (like an HBO series). Should be pretty cool.
Angels in America was pretty impressive too.

unfortunetly i no longer have USA, but i really want to see Spartacus, they have Dr Kovac (i can't remember his name at the moment) playing the lead:)

One of the basic cable nets is remaking Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot.

Yeah looks freaky - I love that bug-eyed guy, really weird looking.
Stephen King generally writes an interesting story - so I'll check it out.

The Cutouts for Traffic are just action scenes..but the previews are all over TV. It looks pretty solid.. I wonder if it will be exactly like the movie or close to it?

They've been filming another version of Salmen's Lot as a mini-series over here in Australia. Dunno when it's going to be screened but its has Donald Sutherland and some other big names in it.

TWO King shows/miniseries coming up?! Very cool. I guess Kingdom Hospital will be first out - but I'll look for Salem's Lot too.
Did anyone check out the Traffic trailer?

I checked out the Traffic trailer. Looks pretty good to me. Seems like it will be entertaining. The miniseries is three days in a row right?
