Jason Voorhies vs. Michael Myers (Not a movie idea)

Well who's the bigger icon? Who's the better slasher? This debate arose in a recent thread about who should rank higher, and I've decided to test the fanboy waters.

My vote goes to Jason. He's got the better look, and he's an ustoppable killing machine. Not to mention there is some depth to his character which was best portrayed in Freddy vs. Jason (although also in the end of Parts 2 & 4). As I've also stated in a recent thread entitled "Jason's Redemption" I believe that there is a confused and lost little boy inside this murderous monster. Not to mention he's proven that he has some staying power. So that's why he gets my vote.

Now I know that Michael is the original but to me he's pretty one dimensional. He's a posessed man who wants to kill his family. I won't even get into the absurd "Shape" garbage. He doesn't seem to have much of a story or a character.

So what's your call?

I agree with all your observations of Jason. He's got better looks, power, size, and a much more amazing staying power.

i just read at a diff site that studios are showing definate interest in a screenplay that pits pinhead (JUST pinhead, no other cenobites) against michael myers.

Michael has more style...I prefer the way he does it...Hes more stalking less hacking and slashing everyone...Makes for a better Icon IMO...Besides Michael was the original...

This sums it all up right here...
Jason is a completly different type of Horror Killer...all the creators of FT13th did, was look at how Michael Myers acted...and made a few changes..
Making him bigger than Michael does not make him a better horror villan IMO..Just makes it seem more unbeliveable.
The FT13th films have always been bigger on gore, and death...In Halloween, u hardly saw blood..Because it was'nt needed, Michael was so holding as a charcter, that the blood did'nt need to be there...This is all with the exception of Halloween 6..Which i feel was more FT13th and Hellraiser in style and feel.

True..but what is the number of victims from each movie that both have killed? If Michael had as many movies as Jason would their number of victims be almost equal?

The Myers of the original Halloween is still my all time favorite. On the surface he's so banal, he's just a normal man.(I mean, c'mon, he drives a station wagon for godssakes) But on the inside he's pure evil.

Great character. Great villian. Great movie.

Myers started out being better, but as the series progressed he just became a guy who wore an inside out William Shatner mask and had an urge to kill. If they stopped at Halloween I'd say Myers, but since they didn't I'd say Jason, who at least looks creepy.

i'm gonna have to say Myers. He is a much cooler character, it's true that the movies have become rather stupid, but so has the jason movies. The Jason movies now are just lots of blood and Jason is just not as cool as mikeal myers.

Myers is definitely the more developed character, but Jason would win in a fight. But if they were both still human and mortal, Michael would win. Even as a human, Michael was pretty damn strong and much more efficient. I hate to say it, but literally speaking, Jason is a retard remember? Michael just doesn't talk.

They've both made too many movies now, they shud have been killed off 3or4 films ago but still done Freddy Vs. Jason cos that was sweeet as!! Myers is a mortal yet he's been shot and stabbed far too many times!!

Michael was "Mortal" up until the end of number 2 and through numbe 4....After that the series went stupid and made him supernatural...
