Realism : I want better looking accidents. If your car rolls, its roof should take on damage. If you hit another car head on, the cars should be completely destroyed.

Interaction : Even more interaction with the game's environment. More enterable buildings, maybe even people talk to you. Damage should occur to a building or tree if you hit it.

Pedestrians : I think pedestrian AI should increase. Pedestrians are just stupid.

Drivers : Other drivers on the road should be smarter too. Vehicles just all of a sudden veer right or left and damage your amazing car. Drivers should be more responsible and smarter with improved driving skills, and they should act like they care when you hit them instead of just driving on. Get out, look at your car, swear at me!

Modern Day Setting : I would like to see another modern day Grand Theft Auto with modern cars and trucks.

Vehicles : Give us around 100-150 different cars to choose from.

Graphics : I noticed little things in VC that could have been avoided had more time been taken to produce the game. And Rockstar is taking 2 years to make this next one so it should be incredible.

City : Larger city. I want to have to go on a six lane highway to reach sections of the city that are just too far away to drive to with city streets. On and off ramps.

Signal Lights : At least the other traffic should have them. In the past two GTA's, you dont know where the other cars are going. You pull out to pass and they hit you. "Blinker buddy!"

Car Features: Speedometer, odometer, gasoline, etc.

Yes, I am just guessing, but I and nearly everyone close to the games is 99% positive about that being the title. If you look at the first GTA game, there were three islands. Liberty, Vice, and San Andreas. Rockstar is going back and bringing those islands into the 3D world. It's almost certain.

Gas is a stretch, but it would make the game more realistic. You're on a mission and being chased by the cops, but "Oh No," you just realized you're almost out of gas. Quick! Jack another car before the cops can catch up.
It just adds another level of difficulty and realism to the game.

I don't understand your first sentence. I never said it didn't have any realism. I just said it would add more realism.

For those who want the extra difficulty, I think gas would be great. So, maybe for those like you, an option to include gas or not would be in line. But then, R* isn't going to go through that trouble and that's why I think it's a stretch to think gas will be included.

Okay, basically i was saying GTA has never been based on realism, so adding something to make it "more realistic" would'nt work..I would expect the gas thing in a game like "The Getaway" which is based on realism, except for a few bits. But not in a GTA game, which is designed to be fun.

well then you just have to make sure you pull in to a gas station before it starts to splutter?

They should improve the police A.I - I would like it if your sitting at the lights in front of a police car and you decide to run a red the cops will give chase.

I would also like to be able to totally destroy gangs - like in gta3 (spoilers_???) after you kill the mafia boss you should be able to kill a few more mobsters and eventually they would just leave the city.

Police motorcycles are still the big one for me.

I like most of the ideas listed above. It would be cool if the characters could somehow learn TO SWIM that way there could be some underwater missions.
How about more flying options new planes, choppers, hang gliders , and parachutes.

Actually a lot of people are saying it will be set in Sin City (AKA: Las Vegas). I mean, even EGM Magazine had a side bar a few months back in it's rumor section saying to forget about San Andreas cuz it will be in Sin City.

Anyhoo, one thing I would love to see in GTA 4 whatever the city might be, is the ability to take hostages. For example, say a couple cops are running at you on the street, you should be able to just grab some random guy/girl and hold them at gun point, causing the cops to back off...however, in doing this your wanted level will rise to 4 (SWAT) and they will begin placing Snipers on the roof tops and in Helicopters. It would be even cooler if you could negotitate, have a cop ask for requests like money, a car, etc...and say they give you the car, you can bring the hostage with you and the cops will chase you, but not be so agressive and slam into you every 5 seconds. It would be really really cool if you could take a building hostage, but alas, I am dreaming.

i like the hostage idea (alot) - the whole police a.i should be improved too eg. if your on top of the multi-story carpark sniping people below the police should actually come into the carpark.

I dont like the fly to different areas ie from new york to mexico idea.

For some reason that is true. A lot of people think that, but I can't figure out why. Do you have any ideas? Another reason some think San Andreas is because the other cities were around water. Liberty City = New York City / Vice City = Miami / and San Andreas could equal San Francisco? Rockstar likes to make parts of the cities unavailable in the beginning of the game, but if it is Las Vegas, there's no water. Just my opinion though. I'm interested in yours.

Vice City wasn't completely open. Remember when you first start a new game, a hurricane warning is announced on the radio and all the bridges between the islands are closed. Sure, you can find a truck, climb it, and jump the barrier, and in GTA 3, you could put in a car flying code and glide across the bridge's gap, but the point is, you cannot just drive or fly to the other side without any obstacles. You must play and advance in the games before you are free to go everywhere.

Why should i have to pull into a gas station?? Decent car, running from cops..I dont need the hassle of running out of Gas, i play GTA for fun, not for realism...

If u want Cops to chase u for running lights, go play Driver..GTA has never been about that.

Well definatly some sort of Multi-player would be great, but i would rather wait for the version on PS3...so it could be amazing looking with 2 people playing..I would rather have a deathmatch mode, capture the flag, all that stuff....It would be great, but it would only work if it was the same amount of cars on the street, they could cut some stuff, by getting rid of the pedestrians in Multi-player, as they wouldnt really be needed...Online play is a must at some point too.

and it would be cool if there was a talking menu that you got to open up and got to talk to people on the street like it could be like the sims have a girlfriend or have people that help u on missions and you could say to them say "go in" "get down" "help me" "get in the car and pick me up"

here here there are plenty of other games out there for reality.....The Getaway had realism and to be honest i dont really like it that much...not as much fun.

I think Driver's realism was fun tho...some reason...roll on Driver 3

you know what GTA is missing recently..the proper articulated lorry's from GTA1 not the trailerless ones but proper rigs.....and i know there were car carriers in GTA: VC but there not the same these had POWER

i want the carachter you are playing as to be more carasmatic (sp?) i mean he like never talks and it sucks, also you should be able to have two people that you play as, so if one dies the other can play and you can toggle back and forth between them whenever you want. swimming idea sucks, its not about doing a bunch of stuff out side of the car its about the cars man! but you should be able to swim to shore if your car falls in the water, only as long as it is a short distance. the hostage idea would be great! also the carachter you play as should have at least some loyalties, instead of always betraying everyone! it should take place in like paris or japan or something, but it should be massive, you know like so big that you will never go to every place in it unless you play it constantley. you should be able to ride in cars as a passenger and order the person to drive as a hostage and be able to hitch onto cars like grab onto the back of trucks and get in the backs of trucks.

I would like to see more street bikes like a suzuki GSX 1000 or a ninja and stop making it so hard to pick up the prositutes on the street and at least show a shadow or something of you getting it on with them that would be funny.

they need to put in more places to get your car airborne. and they need to have several cities that you can fly back and forth from. and there should be some incentive to doing missions quickly. I mean, if you drive around shooting pedestrians for two hours, and then go do a mission, you don't get as much for it. I know a lot of times I've just driven around to kill some innocents, and whaddayaknow, i forget what the hell i was doing, and then i get bored, and then have to get drunk and shoot my neighbor's dog with a paintball gun, because it's so damn ugly and it deserves a life of pain, a life like mine, with lou gehrig's disease and cancer and a heart attack every six hours, and god i love everything.

okay folks, lets not make the game all modernized. Tommy has been in jail for fifteen years, and not to mention it is supposed to be set in the eighties. so making a game that includes recent times would make him what, 50-60 years old, and i don't think crime bosses would be scailing the city walls shooting police if they were that old.

I am just curious as to what celebrities will be contributing voices to the game. Ray Liotta was the best of course. Several other good ones. Maybe they can get some bigger names though. Have Tom Cruise voice the main character or something.
They could always do a version set 10 or 20 years in the future. Nothing fancy like Jetson cars but maybe just a lot of cool futuristic cars, buildings, maybe even newer weapons.
Make cars available on all islands/towns. I have never been to a town where everyone drives the same 10 cars and then gone to the next town over where that town is driving on ten different cars, but not the ones from the last town, no that would be crazy.

No boats. I hated all the boat missions in VC. Better flying controls would help. Maybe even have a mission where you have to hijack an airborne 747. You and two others control the passengers, storm the cockpit. Make an emergency landing in cuba, stock up on drugs and have to fly it to the mexican border to then cross over the US border and distribute.
Also the option to choose your character and their path. Maybe you dont want to be a drug king. Maybe you want to be a pimp or just plain psycho crime lord.
Just my ideas.

i've really enjoyed some of the things mentioned so far, but the three things I'm loking for the most are-

1. Have a san fransisco/hollywood setting:very lively towns, also a lot of hills in both. also, each has very dictinct people
(I.E- if the game was in hollywood/la, you could go downtown and see crack dealers/prostitutes,go to the Snobby Bel Air section of town to see producers and celebs, and go to the metro area to snipe Valley Girls:p)

2. Have it set in the late 80's/early 90's-those years were just fun years, for the most part.

3.Create your own criminal:Drug lord? Con Artist? Pshcopath?
All up to you!:D

I agree with the building damage. When you hit a building or wall going 100+ mph, the house or wall or streetlight should explode into a million pieces along with your cars front end.

I like the Oceans Eleven idea too. Make one job an extremely hard, complicated plan. No violence, just perfect planning and execution.

If it is going to be Sin City for sure, one mission should be to attend a heavyweight fight and kill one of the competitors during the match. Would make a great oppurtunity to show off some sniping skills.

Kidnapping Tom Jones would be cool too but killing him would be better.

Another feature that would be cool is recruiting your own gang members. You build up your credentials, hit the shady parts of town and you pick up to 10 people to be in your gang. If they wear out there welcome, kill some of them off and do more recruiting. The more you advance in the game the more people you can get. To add a twist, have one of them try and kill you every now and then, like in Scarface when Tony killed his boss to take over. The same thing could happen to you if you are not careful.

A camp magic act involving tigers etc. (Speedy recovery to roy or sig or whoever it was)

You should be able to totally destroy a gang too - drive them right out of town if you kill enough of them.

I really like the ideas previously mentioned some extra one's I wouls like to see:
The Croch-Rocket Biker Gang idea is great , I would include a race with bikes and maybe a street racer element. I could see a few missions involve joining a Yakuza Gang that deals in bith a biker gang and street racing at the same time (AKA Jonny Tran from Fast and the Furious) also one or two streetracers have a NOS tank that you can use the R3 button to activate.

Also bigger islands or whatever I like the Idea that you need to use the freeway to get to other areas in the game because of the sheer size of the game area. A large freeway could make for some great car chases (12 cops on your butt and you hit rush hour traffic, or something like the Matrix chase on the freeway).

Please just give us a little dog paddle ability.

how about some construction equipment (Bulldozer, steamroller), more motorcycles lots of them!
More weapons, I want the Syphon Filter Russian made sniper rifle that could see through walls and pop a cap in some one after passing 3 floors of solid concrete, that the one for me. I want to drop police choppers and (planes for that matter) with a heat seeking stinger. Oh most importantly I want to retain all the weapons (yes I do want the chain saw and the sword at the same time)

I wan't exoctic locals, why can't Tommy go on vacation for a dozen missions to jolly old England or the Bahamas (I want cars that drive on the wrong side of the road)

How about a plane other than a cesna, give me a jet with verticle take off and landing abilities so we can get some True Lies/ Blue Thunder destroying the lower downtown area action.

Oh and yes by all means I want building the can be destroyed by cars or weapons or tanks. How about this make it so the builting regenerate every night at midnight. That I can go on a rampage with a tank and level every building in the area and poof a midnight the're back again shiny and new.

I want a whole set of back to back missions that envolve using the sniper rifle (at public events, motorcades, hell even a sporting event or two)

Ah that felt good, Can I pass any one the soap box?
