i dunno, i've been loyal to the show since season 2 and really am eager for next season when they do All Star Survivor. it will be good to see Ethan Zhan in action again since he is my all-time favorite survivor.

hey all, I was lucky enough to work on this season of Survivor (don't even think about asking for voting/story line details) and the buzz among the crew was that these castaways were pretty dang entertaining! I worked on the thing, and I'm SO psyched for this season... should be a hint, I think, to the loyal viewing community (of which I am part). I was getting somewhat bored last season (and I freakin hated the Jenna - win, bleeeaaach!), but this season should be good (good twists!!) and the All-Star is gonna kick ass.

I hope they put Big Tom in it, he was hilarious. I loved his last questions

"If a hyena were to get into camp and eat some of the mush, then turn around and lick his hind end, would that be because it was an animal instinct, or would it be trying to get the taste of the mush out of its mouth?"

oh yeah, i watched the show.
i like captain blackbeard.
i don't like attorney andrew. why the rest of the tribe just went along with him being the leader i don't understand.
i thought oston was going to be a big show-off and jerk but he seems to be doing alright so far.
i dunno. i can't really formulate much about anyone at this point. i think that scout leader woman will be strung along because she's too honest and nice. it will be easy to control her.

Kris Hodgson

Based on the first episode, this could be my favorite Survivor yet. It usually takes me a few episodes to really get into it, but I was hooked 15 minutes into this one. I love how it is a pirate theme. And the immunity idol looks sweet. Blackbeard is also my favorite. I love how he stole the other tribes stuff. That was great. Why would they just leave it sitting there? If he hadn't stolen it, I'm sure someone else would have.

Sparhawk

Arr. I missed it last night. I set the VCR to tape and the babysitter turned it on and screwed up the timer.

But it was good?

Radiohead
09-19-2003, 10:11 AM
it was good.
that skinny grocery clerk boy hopefully realizes he has some room for improvement.
if the tribe wants to control the scout troop leader (which again would be very easy to do) they need to get rid of her grocery clerk friend so if he slacks off more they aren't going to keep him around long at all. unless someone else does something drastically upsetting or stupid i am pretty sure he will get the ax next.

sparhawk: the highlight of the show was this ...
everyone was put on the pearl island village and given a certain amount of money. they could also barter their clothing or personal items for survival items such as food, fire, machetes, tarp, rope, etc etc. both teams left their little liferafts full of shoes and other various items near a wall for anyone to come by and take. captain blackbeard (rupert, the stout guy with the beard and skirt) said he was going to do the "pirate thing" (since the show has a pirate theme) and plunder their loot. so he basically stole the other team's items and traded them for goods and food.

excellent strategy and he did it in a way that made you laugh at the team for being so dumb as to leave their personal items laying around.

I'v noticed that in previous survivors that one team always gets along from the stat while the other is split. The one that is split usually does better once they get rid of a few people.

Better yet, they spent a lot of time looking for water without noticing the water well on the map.

I'm rooting for Drake but then again, the show's editor may be making Morgan look stupid on purpose to toy with our emotions.

I'm still disappointed that Matthew didn't win Survivor 6.

Yeah, especially in the immunity challenge where we had three naked guys. I guess it beats the naked gay guy in survivor 1.

So has anyone else ever noticed that when he reads the votes at tribal council, that it never shows Jeff's Face. It's because his voice is dubbed over and they always go back in to make the votes come as close as possible. He never pulls the cards that just get someone else out immediately, they always string it along for drama and dub in (1 vote x and 1 vote y). Kinda funny. :) When does reality TV stop being reality?

After survivor 1, I don't consider Survivor truly reality TV. The producers know ahead of time what's going to happen so they edit the footage to manipulate your emotions. In the 1st survivor, I really didn't want Richard to win because I felt he was evil but looking back, he was the best player. In Survivor 6, I thought Matthew should have won because the girl (forgot her name) didn't appear to do anything to show that she deserved to win. But then there was 168 hours of stuff going each week on that was cut down to one hour. So there may have been stuff that she did that never made it on the air.

Personally, I'm rooting for the Drake team. Then again, that's probably what CBS wants me to root for.

I agree, we are spoon fed what the show should be like. It would be interesting if they released a box DVD set of each series with all the footage or at least a lot more than what we see on TV.

Here's my 2 cents on the "reality" issue--

People seem to forget that these shows are not "REALITY"... they are REALITY TELEVISION.

To sell, television's got to be compelling, dramatic, interesting. Believe me, you DON'T want to see *all* the extra footage, it's really pretty boring most of the time. I only saw a bit (a few unedited hours or so, all put together) and it's rather dull.

The producers (and APs and editors) on this show are particularly brilliant and diligent about caressing the 300 hours of footage they have a week into 1 fantastic hour of sell-able television. They start mapping out story-archs and figuring out the "characters" of the show from the very beginning... they *have* to, otherwise it'd be a big boring mess... the camera guys wouldn't be where they need to be, the tape loggers wouldn't know what to flag, and the organization of material would be way off. However, I must also just say that the crew goes to extreme lengths not to "mess" with what actually happens to the contestants... they really REALLY don't interfere, feed, or influence them. The crew treats everything they are filming as "live" television, and they work their butts off to make that so. They can't have the contestants "do it again". So what you are seeing is real.

Trust me, making such fantastic reality is a real drama! :)

And in terms of this season-- I really think it's going to be great... the twists are really fun this time around.

About the celebrity Survivor-- it's not going to happen. Mark thinks that it's been played out already (and Jeff talks about that on the recent Vh1 special Behind the Scenes: Survivor, I think it's called)... too many (bad!) shows have done it. The All-Star is as good as it's gonna get, I believe.

Tim37ninjageniu
09-23-2003, 08:11 PM
I thought it was bull**** how the commercials said it they would be marooned with only the clothes on their back and then they get to buy more stuff than any other group of survivors ever.

fun to watch though.

the guy in that is a jackass

Johnnys Apples
09-26-2003, 02:24 AM
Osten, or Austin or however you spell his name is now officially the biggest A-Hole survivor. Why toy with people like that you jackass, if you want out, vote yourself out. What a pile of crap. That guy is worthless in my book and should get his ass off the show. The Morgan tribe should be renamed to the Moron tribe, as their "leader" and everyone else in that tribe is stupid. What a bunch of idiots.

Sparhawk
09-26-2003, 07:54 AM
I really liked the challenge's last night. I felt bad for Skinny Ryan though, getting the boot over that whiney *****, Osten.

Kris Hodgson
09-26-2003, 08:16 AM
Nobody wanted to vote for Osten because he's stronger than Ryan. But it's going to bite them in the ass later. If Osten doesn't want to be there, he won't try as hard, and will end up hurting them in later challenges.

I thought the Morgan tribe was going to jump Sandra (I think that's her name) when she took their tarp! Awesome concept for the Pirate theme.

Sparhawk
09-26-2003, 08:20 AM
The tarp thing was really cool. I like how it gets some real animostiy going between the tribes.

Just like the last one(I think it was the last one) where the had the challenge where they had to block the other team from getting across the little bridges.

You don't want to turn it into the WWF, but there's nothing wrong with a little friendly hate.

Radiohead
09-26-2003, 08:50 AM
yeah, i didn't see much "friendly" hate. a lot of derogatory remakrs were being made about sandra and they all acted like they hated sandra when in reality they would have not liked anyone else that had come to take something.

i just hope if drake loses they are smart enough to hide their spear otherwise rupert might end up making a morgan tribe member walk the plank.

also, osten is an idiot. i know there is no way he could ever win the million dollars now. even if he made to the final two someone would bring up the point that he wanted to quit and didn't even want to be there.

i feel badly for ryan but he really blew it by proving he cannot perform in the challenges. period. i do think, however, the "leader" put too much undue pressure on him and blame their losses solely on ryan. i want to see them lose without ryan and see it really isn't all his fault.

and the mortician lady. did we even get two words out of her last night? is CBS intentionally editing it so that we don't see or hear much out of her until she wins it all at the end?

i want rupert to win. he is the best person on the island in my opinion. he really epitomizes what a surviving pirate is. i mean, hell, that one guy said "i couldn't find the spear head, i looked for an hour" so rupert went out there and did his job for him and found it himself. the other guy is a lazy idiot.

sunflower03
09-26-2003, 11:42 PM
i understand why they wanted to vote ryan s out because he wasn't performing well in the challenges, but how it is going to do any good to keep someone there who doesn't want to be there. he probably won't try now since he thinks he was kept there against his will. he was also complaining about how he might get sick and get blood in his lungs or something. if he is worried about that then, why go on survivor in the first place? i think he was just being a sore loser, if the morgan tribe ever wins any challenges he will suddenly change his mind and want to stay. i think they need a new leader because so far andrew isn't doing a good job, or they at least need to start working like a tribe.

DalOwnerx3
09-28-2003, 12:34 AM
I'm with radiohead, rupert is the MVP so far.

The way Osten wanting to quit reminds me of the girl that gave up in the last survivor. Was that Jenna who eventually won?

Johnnys Apples

09-28-2003, 03:30 PM
Yeah they are tottaly screwed. That whole bull**** with electing a leader. WTF? The guy is a dumbass and just because he is a strong extrovert doesn't mean he is a good leader. He's an ******* and he's tearing their group apart whil acomplinshin nothing. The only cool people in that group are ryan and the scout lady. Everyone else is a whiny *****.

Morgan Tribe continues to suck while Drake just get stronger and stronger. I can't believe they voted out Lill. She did lose the fishing hook, but she worked her butt off! Dara didn't do anything! But that could just be the way they are editing it.

slinger
10-03-2003, 11:18 AM
Yeah I was busy last night and only caught Without A Trace on my west coast CBS. Last week when they sent Skinny Ryan out first was so stupid. Don't they switch tribe members now? Plus they could do something else to mix it up.

Klimber
10-03-2003, 11:51 AM
Yeah I am not sure but I think Rupert is a cybernetic organism sent back in time to show the world that a big burly slob will beat the pants off (uh well the boxers off) a muscle bound pretty boy evert time. Why because like most weight lifters who can bench a ton in the gym but when you need a hand moving furniture they are no where to be found. Zero life experence having to perform with out a power bar in one hand and a protine shake in the other. Hell that dude Osten would rather quit than lose his body.

I need my couch moved, I'm calling Rupert every time!!

Is anyone else tired of Osten walking around like he is mr. sexy with his pants half way down his butt? Gimme a break, they are elastic, don't try to look cool, you just look like a moron. Besides, it was great seeing blackbeard destroy osten in the final game. Osten is a moron, and so is that tribe. They seem like a high-school group who wants to just vote the popular vote. They really don't give a rats-ass about contribution, they just want to look cool, that's why they were stupid and voted off Lill. Morgan tribe = Moron tribe.

Tim37ninjageniu
10-03-2003, 09:43 PM
Morgan Tribe is pathetic. They voted off the only likable people in their group. They are morons. All of them. If they're having trouble sleeping then why don't they build a better shelter? And why the hell did they apoint that jackass as the leader? He is a horrible leader. He is just overly confident and loud but he accomplishes nothing. Rupert is the man I hope he wins. Osten suck he needs to leave. John is gonna leave next.

that is what i thought at first, but it turns out actually jon was the swing vote at the tribal council. which means that he will actually be around at least a little while longer. i can't believe they would lose on purpose. that is stupid because the more immunity challenges they win the less of the morgan tribe there will be when the two tribes merge.

CBS, i can never rely on them. they always edit things to make them look worse then they actually are when they show "next week on survivor"
they still are flawed, though, in showing only one team's voting strategy throughout the episode which basically reveals which team is going to the immunity challenge. take last night for example. did we for even one minutes see morgan talking about voting strategy? no, because cbs knew they were going to win so there was no point in showing their strategy.
watching the challenge it seemed obvious to me that drake was not trying. for the most part there were just standing there waiting to get thrown in, so it seemed.
cool twist letting morgan borrow a drake member. the good news: rupert is looking GREAT going into the merge since both tribes now love and need him. looks like he is going to completely change the attitude of the morgan tribe.

sunflower03
10-10-2003, 11:25 PM
i still say the drakes were morons for doing that. i am sure that each tribe member has someone in the tribe that drives them nuts, that they want out but by losing the challenge that means there will be more morgans when they merge. so i just can't believe they actually thought that was a good stragety.

why do they keep calling the leader of the morgan tribe savage? i don't remember them ever explaining he had a nickname.

why the heck would they want to vote rupert out? that is just dumb, because he is probably going to win most of the immunity challenges when the tribes merge, so wouldn't being in an alliance with him be a good thing, because then he couldn't get voted out. of course that could make him a target as well.

i hope this finally gets jon voted out, because he is the only other person left, who didn't want rupert there. i just hope he isn't too upset, about someone voting against him, because surely he knows that could happen when the tribes merge. i mean he should be upset because there was no good reason for them to vote for rupert, but he needs to be able to take it well if someone does.

if burton comes back i don't see how he could stand a chance. i mean, i dunno. if the outcasts keep winning personal immunity they might be ok but i would think they would be the first ones voted off no questions asked. i can't see how they could possible win the million. who would vote an outcast to win the whole thing when they already lost? i just think it was a stupid thing to do because CBS ran out of plot twists.

Well instead of one tribe not losing a member, we have two tribes losing a member. Also they'll probably won't go back to the same tribe. Yes the Outcast members probably don't stand a chance, but they tried something.

Boy the tides sure have turned big time! Burton and Lil are on a rampage and they were responsible for the outcome with Burt winning and Lil the swing vote.

But hang on, that does not mean Morgan is going to go one by one, by seeing next weeks clips, the tide can turn again. And once again there is talk of Rupert being voted out. I hope Rupert finds out about this new plot so he can skin them alive! ARRRRGG!

I went to Revolutions also but recorded Survivor:

Quick recap:

Burton and Lillian were voted back in. Burton back to Drake and Lillian back to Morgan.
It looked like if Drake lost the immunity, Jon was the next one gone.
But surprise! The tribes merge before the challenge and it becomes an individual challenge for immunity.

Burton wins the challenge by a nose over Rupert.
Now it was a matter of Drake to get someone from Morgan to go on their side to eliminate Morgan one by one. They found that in Lillian, who is still bitter when Savage did not let her know how they were going to vote the day they voted her out. Morgan wanted to get rid of Jon and Drake had their sights on Savage.

So with Lillian siding with Drake, Andrew Savage was voted out over Jon 6-4. 7 of the remaining 9 will be part of the jury.

Let the game begin!

Last night's show really pissed me off. First Jon throws the challenge because he's paired with Rupert ( oops I forgot to ring the bell), then Lil ditches Rupert and goes on the reward, and still Rupert and Co. don't clue in enough to vote Jon off. They didn't even try to cozy up to Darah and T.

Either too cocky or too dumb, Rupert and Co shot themselves in the foot last night.

I'm glad that Rupert was voted off. He was probably the most annoying cast member there, well except for Lil and Sandra. But anyways, he got too cocky for his own good. I mean come on, the guy gets ammunity 2 weeks in a row and is upset that people didn't want him to win again. And what was with him getting so bent out of shape a couple weeks back when he got 2 votes against him. I mean come on, the point of the game is to vote people off. He thought he was above all of that just cause he brought back some fish. The other tribe seemed to survive without food for the entire first half. All I have to say is welcome to reality Rupert. Go sit on the Jury and shut up, I'm glad I won't have to listen to you anymore. Now all they have to do is get rid of Lil, Sandra, and Christa and the show will be perfect. Go Burton!!

Burton didn't owe Rupert anything. Rupert was paying Burton back when he gave up that reward challenge. Just the week earlier Burton gave Rupert Immunity. But that is just like Rupert to believe that he is so great that him tribe mates should jsut give him stuff and not try to beat him in challenges. Rupert is too cocky?

The most annoying and cocky person on the show is John. I am waiting for the castoffs to see John on tape when he is talking solo to the camera and when he is voting everyone off. Arrogant little bastard.

Rupert's problem was that he trusted everyone a little too much - just as he admitted after he was booted. It will be fun to watch him walk in this week into the voting area.

I liked Rupert best of all, but you can bet your butt that if I was on there I would have voted him off too. Like they said, he was a constant threat. He could win almost any immunity challenge at any time, reward challenges too. More importantly, everyone liked him. How could you go into the final three with somebody like that? You know he's got the stamina to win the final "hands on" type, multi-hour immunity challenge. Plus, no one else would have stood a chance against him in the final vote.

As much as I'll miss him, the others were wise to cut him loose now. Hopefully Jon's punk ass is next.

On a side note, during the Pats vs. Texans game Sunday, they were running commercials for Survivor and the announcer said something like, "Hey, you guys watch that show? That last guy with the headband and the curly hair (Jon), he's a big jerk. I'd like to meet him one day and let him know what a punk he is."

basically the family members and friends of the remaining tribe members came back for a reward challeenge and to win the challenge and gain sympathy john had his friend lie and tell him his grandmother died. it was about as low as you can get as a human being. pretty despicable but nonetheless brilliant.

but yeah, the reunion is going to be incredible. i hope john gets slapped or drop kicked.
