I watched it on VHS last night and it was pretty good, and i think i underestimated the quality, but what happened at the box office?
Here is the weekend breakdown:

$2,715,848 - $2,715,848
$625,469 -77% $4,584,577
$23,745 -96.2% $4,877,351
$12,676 -46.6% $4,908,956
$5,573 -56% $4,922,166

Total Gross: $4,928,883

It's budget was $12mil, and what about like the 25mil viewers who watched the finale?
I do not have a clue

Sci-fi guy is right. It looked like complete crap and a rip off of moulin rouge.

Citizen Kane

Here's the main problem (in addition to it being pure crap). They waited too long. This was just after Ruben had won the second installment of AI, so people didn't care about Justin/Kelly anymore.

Is it just me or could Justin be a Michael Jackson look alike if he got long straight hair?

A friend of mine saw it and said it wasn't that good because always when they started singing, perfect strangers would come up to eachother and start dancing dances that looked like something that wasn't very good. I don't think I should say on the forums.

The story itself seems too predictable and boring

But also your right Citizen Kane, they did wait too long.

They call it a musical. It belongs with Moulin Rouge... It's not a musical. I think it's a big diss to musicals and makes them look bad. I cried when this movie was released into theaters, and laughed when it made no money. And I will laugh again because it's still not making any money on DVD/VHS. *laughs*

Nah it's not just you. I see plenty of Michael in him. Hell, maybe that was Justin as Michael in that Scary Movie 3 trailer. Now and days I'm sure he's doing anything for a buck.

also american idol has been promoted to much. i think people are starting to get sick of it some like what happened with gigli, to much publicity killed it. plus i do believe that someone said it wasn't advertised enough, which is the truth. i think they thought that just because it had two american idol people in it word of mouth advertising was enough.

I mean... I guess the film wasn't TOTAL crap. I'll admit ive seen worse. But it was total cheesyness. I couldn't take it terribly well. But I managed to watch the whole thing all the way through, as oppose to Dungeons & Dragons.

the reason it is getting an international release is because i believe american idol was popular in the uk and in other places. isn't that simon guy british?

This movie will probably compete against Gigli for Razzie next year. Wonder which movie will "win"?

I couldn't believe they actually wasted time and money on a pile of garbage like this. Justin is a dork.

I do not have a clue

Because nobody would *pay* to watch them. There's a difference.
