When people speak about strippers, porn stars, and prostitutes, I can't help but notice the air of disgust that usually accompanies (unless you're a horny member of the male 18-49 group.) I too was once disgusted by this group (and don't worry I'm a normal straight male, just able to think with the head on my shoulders.) But just recently I've grown to accept this group, and place them no lower than your average female celebrity, mainly for one reason- they can admit that they are whoring themselves.
You can easily make a comparison between many female actresses or singers, with either of the before mentioned professions. An actor promoting an upcoming film can display himself with dignity on any number of magazine covers, while the actress is spread eagle on the cover of Maxim, or laid out on a bed with the sheets strategically placed to cover the "naughty" areas. Some then go on to be in Playboy, and suddenly their pictorial becomes "art", unlike the rest of the dirty trash in the mag. Many rap videos are criticized for their portrayal of women, usually dancing around in thong bikinis, getting sprayed with water or some acoholic bevarge. And how do the leading female artists combat these images, they dance around in thong bikinis, getting sprayed with water (*applause* for not stooping to alcoholic beverages.) "But how are they like pornstars?", you ask. Did anyone see Monsters Ball? In a controversial '03 Cannes film festival entry, the lead actress actually orally pleasured her male costar on film, yet I'm sure there's a great reason as to why she's better than Jenna Jameson.
I guess the funniest part of this whole scenario, is when I watch these actresses age and suddenly the have a great epiphany- beauty isn't everything. Sharon Stone will be on lifetime hoping for actresses to promote better images for women of the world, meanwhile we all can recall her most memorable scene from Basic Instinct. This is obviously a case of too little, too late.
PS: I know that I'm not saying anythying new or revolutionary, but most of the people I've told this to just write me off as a lonely, bitter loser. So I had to post this to see if anyone agreed with me.
