You left out Bad Boys 2. That's my vote for the worst.

Considering how many movies are coming out this year, I think it evens out. The year overall is getting a ton of bad movies, but the year is also getting a lot of good movies too. There's been more movies ive actually been wanting to see every weekend this year than any other year.

True though, I can agree I wish more of them turned out better. Anticipation is good and all, but there needs to be more delivery.

Yeah.....people are being blinded by all the bad movies, that they ignore the fact that we've got/getting more good movies this year then nearly any other in the past 5 years!

Directors are learning from their mistakes... sadly we have to look foward to and put up with their mistakes, due to deceptive trailers and effective publicity from their production studios.

Just the thought of hearing a rumour about a sequel makes me cringe (except LOTR)

The only sequel this year that will stand the test of time will be ROTK. Clearly the best sequel even if we havent seen it.

I really thought that reloaded was going to blow us out of the water but i think our expectations were too high. It was good but there was something about it that seemed so different from the original.

Exactly what I thought. the speacil effects lived up to my every expectation... but everything else came out second best. But then I understand that there is no movie that can cater to everbody's likes. So I consider it very good.

"Charlies Angels 2" and "Bad Boys 2" were considered bad movies by those of us with not a single fun bone in our bodies, and who don't know a good action movie when we see it. I dug both of them personally.

was bad boys 2 that bad?

I agree with a lot of the previous posts. There have been a ton of film released this year and the fall looks just as heavy. I really don't know if this summer was any worse then usual. But if we're saying that it was, then I'd blame it on the fact that this summer was the summer of the sequel/prequel and seeing as how sequels are almost always less original & entertaining, because we've seen it all before that in itself could have a lot to do with it. I mean POTC was a surprise hit, but if you think about it, it was a good original first time film in a season filled with rehashed & revisited ideas. Coincidence? maybe.

I think for the moviemakers it's hard to create something new. they try to use another style (like the hulk IMO). But a lot of things are all the same. all those comedies, pff, it's to much. I'm geting sick of it. Plus that I think the actors are no where as good as the actors from twenty years ago. So all those things may result in a lot of bad movies.

I like Bad Boys II...... but Charlie's Angels 2? no thanks.

That's crap and you know it. Acting is a bit more difficult nowday's. Most of the films that are created in this Era, the actors are acting against green or blue screens. I had this assignment for school, and we went filming with blue screen, and against creatures that wern't actually there, and that was hard. It's all Improvising these day's! So I think your judgement isn't right at all

Charlies Angels full throttle was 100% fun for me, Bad Boys II isn't coming out here untill Oktober I guess.

Well I do have the theory the Wachowski's died durring some point in the process of making the films, and then Joel Silver just finished them up. But due to their big names on it, they'll reveal their death as if it supposedly happened after they were all finished and released, conveniently before they made any commentaries or interviews.

In which case you'd be right =P

I didn't mind CA2, it was exactly what I thought it would be. If you saw the first one, then you should have known what to expect in the 2nd one.

BB2 however, was a disappointment. The action scenes followed no logic, and at over 2 hours I got sick of Will & Martin's arguing.

there are lots of good movies out this year, but this year it seems like there are less good movies out then last year. i actually liked more movies last year then i did this year, but then it could be like somebody said that the bad movies just happened to get more press this year then last.

It's been extremely slim pickings this summer.

Jerry Bruckheimer should have his producer's license revoked. And he should then be strapped into a chair and forced to watch dreck like Pearl Harbor for the rest of his miserable days.

I think it all evened out nicely with the same amount of crappers (BB2, CA2) and gems (28 Days Later and The Hulk). The good ones overwrite the bad ones, so I'm happy.

Just so that everybody knows, becuase some people seem to not..know.

There is a difference between a movie you or even many people, but mostly you liked or enjoyed. And a movie that was "Good."

ie.
BEST OF THE SUMMER

S.W.A.T.
Bad Boys 2

WORST OF THE SUMMER

28 Days Later
The Hulk
LXG

I would digress, but I don't see the need. Maybe later.

Good day.

sunflower03
08-24-2003, 11:47 PM
how is there a difference, because if someone likes a movie to them that is a good movie. why would a movie someone likes not make it a good movie?

Fanible

Bad and good movies just get an official label by popular vote really.

But yeah, it IS really just opinions. But I think most can agree we've had quite a few bad ones.

I've had quite a few good theatre goes though too. And im still anticipating quite a few more.

i think one of the main problem is that they made to many sequels to only midly successful films, like tomb raider 2, instead of just sticking to sequels of more successful films like x-men 2.

x2 and hulk were fun for me cause i dig marvel universe on screen (except DareHaggis)
reloaded worked for me quite well

as for bad boys 2 and CA2 they are god for what they are junk food, entertainment without protection, blah blah yes they suck but it all depends on how you look at it

bad boys 2 provided a good action packed film. when i went to see it i didnt expect much acting. i mean its meant to be a guilty pleasure kind of movie. not totally but a little guilty pleasure. and as for a charlie angels 2 i just hated it. again another guilty pleasure type film. a lot more so than bb2.

The Good:

X2
Matrix Reloaded
28 Days Later
Swat
Pirates of the Caribbean

The Bad(but causes guilt in a pleasuring sense)

LXG
Hulk
CA2
BB2

The Ugly:

Gigly
From Justin to Kelly
TR2

I think thats popular opinion. Me? Well I agree but I can't pass judgement on 28 Days Later and Swat. Im assuming they will be good. I guess FvJ falls under the bad in an good way category.

The Good:
X-Men 2 (not actually a summer film)
Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines
The Hulk (Too long intro, but once it gets going)
Identity

The Average:
Pirate Of The Carribean
Tomb Raider 2 (much like the first one really in direction)

The Bad:
(not seen anything that was pure crap yet)

I enjoyed Bad Boys 2. I waited 8 years for it, and I was more than pleased with it. People need to just learn to sit back, turn off the switch to your Noggin, and enjoy the movie. It was made to be an Action packed, big budget, buddy cop, shoot-em-up movie. It's Michael Bay... what do you expect ?
I talked to a couple of people who said that they weren't happy with Bad Boys 2 due to the Gun fights, explosions, etc...
Come on... it's like saying that you didn't like Freddy Vs Jason due to the gore factor. What do you expect ?

I'd like to know how many people actually saw Gigli. I mean, it's like everybody in America has something bad to say about it, yet look at it's box office numbers. Especially over at Imdb, they have it at #1 on the worst movies of all time. GIVE ME A BREAK... half of them haven't even seen it, just jumping on the Bashwagon.

The Good:

S.W.A.T. (I loved it, although did anyone think that the middle of the film on, it seemed kinda rushed)

X2: X-Men United

Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines

The Italian Job

Freddy Vs. Jason (After seeing it 4 times, I still feel like a kid in a candy store)

Pirates Of The Carribean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl

The Guilty:

Hollywood Homicide

28 Days Later

American Wedding (I'm a HUGE fan of the American Pie franchise, but this was the worst of the 3. It seemed kind of weird without the regular cast, and also seeing them out of High School / College situations)

The Ugly:

The Hulk

Tomb Raider 2: The Crack Of Ass

there were too many sequels to fils that shouldn't be made, and movies that people were expecting to be one thing then turned out to be another. everyone was excepting the hulk to be along the lines of spiderman, that is why it had such a big opening weekend but after the big opening weekend, it bombed big time. then look at tomb raider 2, the first made like 100 million, but most people didn't want a sequel to it. the first tomb raider is similar to how people view the hulk movie. most people who went and say the first one excepted one thing, and got another. that is why they should have never made a sequel to the first tomb raider, even though it made 100 million. i am sure because of its very big opening weekend the hulk made at least 100 million, but i doubt most people who say this movie want to see a sequel to it. showing just because a movie makes a large amount doesn't mean there should be a sequel.

hulk was not a bad movie, it's just that they made like a art house film, when it should of been just a big fun action pic.

Good:
Pirates of the Caribbean

Terrible:
Charlie's Angels 2

Can't remember very many good ones now. Still recovering from the bad ones......
