Cool Revolutions News

From MFN:

"Robx and Bartfett sent us this story: In The Matrix Revolutions, the third and final part of the movie trilogy, hero Neo (Keanu Reeves) gets in contact again with his nemesis Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving).

Due for worldwide release on November 5, The Matrix Revolutions comes with the tagline "everything that has a beginning has an end". And, says the hype, while the second of the trilogy, Reloaded, was about life, "Revolutions will be about death".

A climax of Revolutions will be a 17-minute battle conducted on the scorched earth of the nuclear-ravaged real world, littered with crumbling cathedrals and leading Neo to his true destiny, says 7 days editor Jenny Dillon.

This segment cost about two-thirds of the budget of the first film alone. The Matrix cost $100 million, and took $690 million around the world.

The second and third parts, like the first made in Sydney over 18 months from March 2001, had a budget of more than $460 million.

The original's most ardent fans always thought the revolutionary creation of Andy and Larry Wachowski would be a tough act to follow.

But already Reloaded, released in May this year, has returned $1100 million globally, putting it at number 13 in the list of the top grossing moves of all times in worldwide box office figures.

Producer Joel Silver said that the reason for the release of both movies within six months of each other was that the sequels are not two movies released back-to-back, but one movie cut in half and shown in two parts.

Unlike the Star Wars stories and the never-ending tales of Harry Potter, there will be no fourth Matrix film. "The story the Wachowskis wanted to tell ends at the end of Revolutions," said Joel Silver.

This sounds awesome.... The part about the Cathedral reminded me too much of this "phony" script that has been on the net for years:
http://keanuweb.com/credits/movie.matrix2.stories.2.html

here's what I'm talking about:

"EXT. BURNT-OUT CATHEDRAL (MATRIX) – NIGHT

Neo closes the cell phone. He reaches to tuck it away, then pauses, looking at it. He drops it to the ground and walks on.

He stands out on a finger of crumbling church, the night air all around him. The city lights are alive below. He focuses on the Metacortex building. Leaving him there, we rush to it until we dive into the dark shadows of the very building, going microscopically close, until the darkness gives way to the glowing green miasma of quantum code. It fills the screen before we bust through into darkness again.

TO BE CONTINUED…"

Was that script a draft by the Wachowski's after all?

I know - With Club Hell, The helicopter chase, and the 17 minute battle in the real world, I'm now 100% sure Revolutions will kick ass.

Okay first of all The Matirx cost 63mil to make and 30mil to market not 100mil. It took in 460.4mil worldwide not 690mil.

The Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions had a budget of 300mil and cost 100mil to market. Not a production budget of more than 460mil.

The Marix Reloaded made 724mil at the international box office not 1100mil, or 1.1bil. The Matrix Reloaded however is at number 13 of the highest grossing movies of all time.

You would think whoever wrote that article would have gotten such widely known information right so I would be skeptical as to wheather this article is legit.

well anyway.... let's forget about the whole money deal and look at the point of the thread : Revolutions will be awesome.

And none of you really jumped at the idea that what we thought was once a fake script might actually have been written by the Wachowski's.

I also thought that you guys would be interested to hear that Revolutions is the absolute end.

I have a feeling people like will not enjoy revolutions

I was thinking the same thing.

But I guess in Revolutions they're suppose to be more epic than individual. I might say the same thing about FOTR and then into TTT. True though I liked FOTR's battles still. Then again, I also liked Reloaded's battles.....

Oh yeah, im not the one who said I didn't.

Yes... These will be "epic" battles.... and so will Return of the Kind. I guess it will be a winter of epic porportions.

Yes I think Revolutions will be great but about the absolute end I'm not so sure the article said the story the Wachowski's wanted to tell ended with Revolution's but that still leaves the series open for a prequel. If the studios really thought a martix sequel or prequel would make loads of money they will make it no matter what and just bring in new people.

Nah. This will be it.

it's horrible to think but anma22 may be right.
Just makes wonder why studios think another movie from the series would be very wise to make when, in fact, the whole crowd cries: No !!

Silver said it was the end. It's the end. The end. The end.

Ergh...
EVERY movie opened for a prequel... -.-
Wether they gonna make it or not, but if we look at the story, it is possible.

yes the end it's a trilogy end of the story.....but milking the best cow for a long time with re releases and special editions

Fanible

Tis true. Just because he says this trilogy would end, doesn't mean there could be other stories about other characters durring the same or a different time period.

Same goes for prequels.

What can you do...

I think the Wachowski's are done with it though.

I'm surprised there hasn't been any Matrix novels out yet......though I'm sure there will be after Revolutions comes out....

Ap2000

The Wachowskis perhaps...
But what if someguy thinks in ten years "hey, let's do a alternative story" or "what about the other chosen ones before Neo ?" ?
