Ok - i know i've started many threads, but seeing how Nintendo's consoles are always in pairs, there should really be only one forum for them both. So this is it.

GBX and NINTENDO DOLPHIN

This is what I want the consoles to be called but they are not officially named. So this is what their project names are:

GBA2 and N5

Now we know the link, and we know that the next portable from Nintendo can download data such as games, music and movies from PCs, N5s and other GameBoys. This is alot better than PSPs ideas, where you have to download it to a portable-game disk. "If the device is going to around $200, why the hell hasn't it got a hard-drive" is what I say to PSP. I may buy it, and enjoy it, but Nintendo are atleast listening to it's customers for a change, which has been a problem over the past year or so.

(By the way - The UK is NOT getting Animal Crossing, so don't get your hopes up. God i wish i was Nintendo! I'd change all the rules. Europe will have some games released before the US, but all of them at the same time)

ok - post anything you know about it, or as spiderman_2k would do, start insulting it like all PS2 fans do.

Nintendo hasn't released any specs yet on GBA2...sony has, when nintendo gives me specs and some games, then I'll know if I want it or not. Nintendo has taken the stance in the past that they are a "gaming" console company...not a multimedia company. I doubt that they are putting a harddrive in GBA2 to function as a movie/music machine. It's probaly to save games off of disks that they will be making on the next batch of consoles or to play games from the N5 w/o having to have it constantly hooked up.

I'm not bashing nintendo though, I have owned and currently own every nintendo console out in the states. I probally always will own a nintendo console because I think that Gamecube is the best gaming console out with Xbox following a close second with all it's innovative features. Nintendo is for the true gamer though and always will be. They won't be adding dvd players to their consoles and they won't be adding mp3 abilities to their portables. We'll leave that up to the competition.

Perhaps a pre-emptive strike at Sony's PSP, Nintendo seems intent on delivering perhaps a portable hard drive games player, as the patent goes on to mention several times that cartridges will not be needed for certain types of gameplay, including multiplayer gaming.

This seems to be confirmed by, "[the] portable game machine that can be placed into a "download mode" when no game cartridge is inserted into the portable game machine. When operating in the "download mode", the portable game machine is capable of receiving executable code written to it by a data source (e.g., another portable game machine, a home video game machine, a personal computer, a network, etc.) The portable game machine writes the received executable code into an internal working random access memory and then proceeds to execute the code. In one example arrangement, this download capability permits multiple players to play a common video game on multiple video game units using only a single cartridge or other storage media."

That's the main bit of the article i'm on about.

I think it's Pokemon Collesium. That's out in the US on December 4th isn't it? Remember - Pokemon Collesium was the name given to it recently, so this poster must have been made before last May.
Well - all i want in a Pokemon RPG, and i hope we get one soon. I'd rather that be Nintendo's big surprise in Spring, rather than a new set of games.

Bring on Metroid Prime 2!

jpdill

Yeah - and Zelda 2.

Hey Jedi, did you like Wind Waker?

spiderman_2k
08-16-2003, 11:51 AM
Only thin i would be waiting for on any upcoming Nintendo console is any future Resis....The Gamecube games just arent my thing..I bought a gamecube and it came with, Resi, Mario Sunshine, Mario Party4 and Red Card Soccer...Out of all of them i only really played Resi.

jediknight
08-16-2003, 01:21 PM
Resi was good, great eye candy...one of the best on any console.

jp, i thought I would hate Wind waker...but at the end of the game my feelings toward the game turned completly opposite. The minor details sold me on the cel shading in the end. The story was great--I loved the continued story of OOT & MM. The sound was top notch and I was suprised to see no loading times!!! That was amazing to see with a game with such rich enviroments and animation. I can't wait for the sequel, needless to say.

jpdill
08-16-2003, 03:22 PM
Yeah - same here. The next one has been officially announced. It'll be released sometime next year, before the gamecube follow-up console. It will be the same stuff, but with extra things too. And it is still cel-shaded.

Now here is the reason why i asked you (Jediknight) the question on whether you liked Wind Waker:

On the next console, do you want Nintendo to go back to a realistic Zelda, or improve on the cartoon-style. I agree with Nintendo on the subject - i think cel-shading REALLY, REALLY suits Zelda as it gives it a painting feel. I think it'd be a realy shame if they went back to "normal".

Perhaps on the next console, they'll release more than one. Perhaps Orcarina of Time (completely up to date graphically and sound wise) and then a sequel to Wind Waker's follow-up. I liked the fact Wind Waker continued Orcarina as well, and i want Post-Hyrule Link, Tetra and Aryll to still be in the games.

You know the story i posted a few days back about you (the player) playing as either Link, Tetra or Aryll? Well that story. That way we can have a huge cel-shaded battle.

BTW: The Link from Orcarina of Time was killed in battle, i think. Also, is Tetra a child in WW?

I want to know why Link wasn't able to stop the flood. The last thing we know about Link from the end of MM is that he is on his way back to Hyrule. What kept him away? Why did the gods feel that the Hero of Time wouldn't be able to stop Ganon if he came again??? I want to know these things and damnit, it would make WW better too if we had resolution to the Link we all know and love. I like the cel shaded graphics, now, but if they do the Link from OOT, i want realistic graphics. WW looks like a cartoon and is very fun to play, but all of us who grew up on the first Legend of Zelda are grown up now. Is it so wrong to want your childhood heroes to "grow up" with you? That's why I want to play a realistic adult Link w/ more dungeons and harder bosses.

Hopefully Nintendo will release an updated Majora's Mask b4 the next cel shaded Zelda comes out.

Didn't you get what the story was telling you?

Link went off and didn't come back in time to stop Ganon from taking over. Because he went off and saved other nations, he lost his "magic" abilities, and when he faced Ganon, he was killed. King Hyrule then decided to ask the gods for help. They flodded Hyrule, the people went to the mountains, and the evil was paused under-water.

jediknight
08-20-2003, 05:20 PM
I don't remember it saying Ganon killed link, I'll have to play through it again. That is cheese if thats the case, he shouldn't loose his magic power if he is fighting for other nations. Not unless he scattered the triforce of courage and master sword before he fought Ganon.

jpdill

It says Old Link was defeated - that means killed...

Riddle
08-21-2003, 06:53 AM
It didn't say that at all.....it said that Link took off and never returned when Ganon did.

Yeah, I noticed that. I'll take PS2 over Gamecube and X-Box anyday.

spiderman_2k
08-21-2003, 09:12 AM
As would I, Only played a GC because my little bro has it...In its in the room next to me, but i never bother with it...I had an X-Box but for some reason it stopped reading discs..I just got a refund, and havent bothered getting a new one...My PS2 i have had since a week after the launch date in the UK and it has never broke or anything...Plus the games are more suited to my tastes which i like....Im not a "PS2" fanboy..I just like the PS2 more...each console has there own better things...Gamecube..IMO The Resi series is the best thing about it
X-Box..Strong Online community, Halo, other great games...
But IMHO to me, PS2 is the best, for reasons stated above....

PS2 also has DMC and Castlevania exclusives, something that will always keep my PS2 from breaking down from lack of use.
