first i want to ask if there is a good version of 1933 King Kong out somewhwere. Next, if WB is releasing classics now in its box case special editions, as opposed to the much hated snapper cases, (ie citizen kane, casablanca) do you think gone with the wind will be next? WB needs to make better DVDs out of some of their great films (ex. exorcist, shawshank redemption) which right now have mediocre dvds with poor packaging and deserve more. Also, does anyone know why the Matrix Special Edition isnt coming out anymore? i want to get that out of snapper case really badly. thanks!

I doubt it will come out until WB releases all the movies in a box set (matrix trilogy)

There were plans for a 70th anniversary DVD, but those were deleayed in order to do the extensive restorations, etc that the film needs.

Next, if WB is releasing classics now in its box case special editions, as opposed to the much hated snapper cases, (ie citizen kane, casablanca) do you think gone with the wind will be next? Probably not next, but I can see Gone With the Wind coming as a multi-disc SE in the future. It's of course a classic that has a poor edition out on DVD, so why not?

Haven't heard anything about a new version of The Exorcist, but the 25th Anniversary Edition apparently (don't have it myself) comes with two commentaries and a 75 minute documentary. I doubt they would release a new version just for better packaging.

The Shawshank Redemption's director, Frank Darabont said they planned to re-release the film for its 10th Anniversary next year and that a new 2-Disc SE should come around Fall/Winter 2004 with commentary and multiple documentaries.

The SE of The Matrix isn't coming out anymore because it seems WB had a strugle with their consciences over whether or not to double dip fans since it was basically a repackaging of the two editions that are already out. The producer also said they pulled it (curiously) because it had material that would spoil the sequels. Anyway, he said they hope to put out a new SE in the future complete with a new transfer, but no word on that.

Also, if you're anxious to get it out of a snapper, they may be re-issuing it in a new case since The Matrix Reloaded will be in a regular keepcase. Just speculation though. Of course you could download cover art and purchase your own blank cases. :)

I`m pissed that they haven`t already stop using those s**t cases.

Would you people buy more WB DVDs if they are in plastic cases or the same as now?

Yeh they are meant to start using the new "standard plastic" cases sometime next month.

and no I havent been put of buying any wb releases because of the case - but I stil hate them.

Would anyone actually replace their old snapper cases if they re-released old dvds not with any new features just new covers?

I have about 10 snapper covers and I hate them, so if they re-release movies in normal cases then I might consider purchasing them again
