A review from a person that went to the Hong Kong premiere of Jackie Chan's new film "The Medallion" and she seems to really like it..

The Medallion

reviewed by Katharine Mysak (August 12, 2003)

The Medallion, an action comedy starring Hong Kong/Hollywood superstar Jackie Chan, Claire Forlani, Lee Evans, and Julian Sands, is the story of Eddie Yang (Jackie Chan), a Hong Kong cop who acquires superhuman powers connected to a mysterious medallion.

On a sultry night last week, many of Hong Kong's biggest and brightest stars gathered at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre for the premiere of Jackie's latest movie (formerly known as Highbinders). The Convention Centre was a beautiful venue for the premiere of a movie headed by beloved star Jackie Chan.

The Medallion is full of laughs, action, and spectacular special effects which combine to make for a thoroughly entertaining viewing experience. The movie grabs your attention from the very first scene and holds it until the end when you find yourself thinking, "Oh no! It's over!"

Jackie is in top form and there is no shortage of his comedic touches throughout the film. His character is admirable and heroic and it was a pleasure to see the softer side of Jackie's acting (i.e. romance). There was a nice, easy chemistry between Jackie and Claire Forlani (who plays his love interest). Lee Evans' over-the-top Interpol agent was as goofy as goofy gets, yet he was a good balance for the more serious character that Jackie plays.

Word has it that the movie was cut shorter to accomodate the tastes of American audiences. Whether that is true or not, what's for sure is that after watching this movie, you'll be smacking your knee and saying, "Darn...why'd it have to end?!"

On a side note, the outtakes are hilarious....but then, aren't they always?

This reviewer gives The Medallion three and a half dragons out of a possible four.

Looks to be 100 times better than "The Tuxedo". and The hot as hell Claire Forlani is in it too.
