Becker, The King of Queens, According to Jim, America's Funniest Home Videos, 30 seconds of fame, Banzai

Any reality show.
Will & Grace, Friends, and any simialr show.
Actually, about 95% of all sitcoms should be cancelled. There should be only 6 or 7 channels with decent programming.

Banzai??? That show is the buisness, how can you not love that show? you must just be too young to understand the finer intricacies of that marvellous show.

not all reality series are bad. i love survivor, the bachelor, cupid, amazing race, and big brother. right now though there are to many on.
it is the networks fault because reality programs it hit big mostly because they have to many reruns on. have less reruns of regular shows, and i gurantee a lot less people will watch reality programs.
they need to cancel friends, the anna nicole show, sex and the city, that stupid new coupling show, will & grace, and 24 way over rated.

The only good reality shows were Survivor 1/2.Every other reality show should be canncelled.Reality isn't being in a contest to marry some one or being stuck on a island.Reality is waking up at 9 A.M to go to your ho-hum job, come home at five to your apartment, eat a little lasagna, feed your cat,do hobbies, watch(or try to at least)watch the crap on TV,watch a late night show,go to bed. That's reality.

The last couple of years TV has been inundated with stupid shows that are either reality based, remakes of older sitcoms or clones of already existing sitcoms, because I work at nights I rarely get a chance to watch any TV but when I do I watch reruns of sitcoms that are ACTUALLY FUNNY like Three's Comapny, Gilligan's Island and of course Family Guy, oh yeah The Simpsons too.
TV executives nowadays have lost their minds and can't think of original programming so they just put out reality programs, it's a real shame.

1. The Simpsons and any other prime-time cartoons that haven't yet been cancelled. (or just put them on at 4pm for the kids and stop clogging the airwaves with that stuff when the rest of us get home from work.)
2. Many of the reality shows.
3. MTV. Yes, just cancel the whole damn channel.
(actually, the only shows I watch regularly anymore are Raymond, Third Watch, football and American Idol-- when they're showing new ones again. The rest can be scrapped as far as I'm concerned.)

Okay, jeez... keep the Simpsons. It just so happens that I don't like it, same as some of you don't like American Idol or Third Watch. To each his own. (and no, I don't think American Idol is aimed strictly at the preteen demographic. Watching talented people sing can appeal to all ages. And have you seen some of the song selections? For the most part, they don't sing very current songs to appeal to younger people, they sing classics that can appeal to a wide audience.)

If the Simpsons premeired this year with S14, not counting the meta-jokes, you'd put it on your 'to be cancelled' list, too, along with everyone else on this board. The Simpsons is a show that is around becasue of it's recognition, not because it's still the 'best'. In short, its the McDonalds of sitcoms.
Also, I don't buy into the "It's the Simpsons, so it's better than 130% of TV!" crap, either. That's just blind and stupid fanboyism.

But...it is.
And I'm not being a stupid fanboy here. The Simpsons is great because it never panders to the audience with obvious punch-lines or comfortable humor. It's humor is usually brazenly satirical, merciless, and laugh out loud funny. Plus, it has some of the most unique, unforgettable, and, most importantly, funny characters on television today.

If you go to snpp.com and check some of the articles written in the last three, or four years that call the show 'great' and 'timeless' they use the episodes from the first eight seasons to back up their points. Did all of these reviewers contract some virus that made them think the show was no longer good, or did it take a considerable slide?
It's no suprise even Entertaiment Weekly's list of the top 25 episodes, all but two were from the 8th season and before. Click here to read the list (http://www.ew.com/ew/article/commentary/0,6115,417748~3~0~25bestand1,00.html)
Instead of putting their reputations on the line when the show was 'never pandering to the audience', they waited until the show was a mainstream hit (now very much pandering to the audience) and praised it for the show's quantity of seasons, rather than quality of the product. During the first eight seasons of the show, it manufactured its own 'cool' and through its harsh wit and satire, it proved its worth again and again. Shortly after the eighth season, the show stopped manufacturing its own 'cool' and became a welfare recipient that only props itself up on whatever the general public considers cool at the moment. (Kid Rock? Britney Spears? N'sync? And in Season 15, Joe Millionare! ) All subtley, empathay and emotional realism (yes, I know it's a 'cartoon') left and all that was left was Homer acting like a jackass and the rest of Springfield being his side prop and with more guest stars. In short--the show became 'Poochified.'
It's humor is usually brazenly satirical, merciless, and laugh out loud funny. Plus, it has some of the most unique, unforgettable, and, most importantly, funny characters on television today. [/B]
Jonathan Swift is satirical, the new Simpsons is just dumb. To be satirical a form of wit has to be involved. Irony makes me smirk, bitter sarcasm makes me think, wit makes me laugh out loud. The Simpsons have de-evolved into show and tell. The writers present you with cliches mixed with tired formulas in an attempt to find something "ironic" and tell you "this is what's funny, laugh". And some people, because they dont know any better, think it's the most brilliant thing since Pauly Shore's "Biodome".
I still do like some episodes though, the ep: Mr. Spritz Goes to Washington was mighty fine compared to the other crap floating around. But other new eps just get me pissed off (enough with the self-referential humor, we know that you know you're not real), which is maybe what the writers are trying to do. In which case, bravo... you dirty bastards.
Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the show on some levels, but not to the point of wanting to quote anything really from the newer episodes. It's funny how true the saying: "You don't realize a good thing until it's gone" (Futurama, anyone?) really is. I miss the first eight years of the show, but not for the nostalgia, but for the depth and rawness the Simpsons emoted.
Thank god for video tapes and the (very slowly) released DVDs.
JL
(I'll give you credit by saying the established characters are 'funny and unique', but by design only. They're used to be an air of empathy in show that complimented the characters with along with the then much stronger satire. Now it's like the writers are treating the characters like one-dimesional gag puppets...almost like a bad rip-off of family guy.)

the simpsons is still a good show, but it is like any other show on tv that runs a long time. most any tv show that is great usually have their very best show near the begining of the series. shows like frasier, friends, or er are still considered great shows, but most fans of the shows, and critics agree that the episodes were at the begining. even though i hate frasier, friends, and er. the only tv show i know of that people aren't saying that the earliest seasons were the best is everybody loves raymond. also part of the reason that the earliest seasons of a show are usually considered the best is because that is when the show is new, and people are just starting to discover that show.

...which explains why the average age of the Simpsons viewer is steadily declining.
But, anyhow, the responsibility of the writers is to make the show last, not to satisfy blokes like me. For every one of me, there are thirty others who will laugh at all the jokes I cannot stand, and who will make the show profitable by patronizing the advertisers who peddle their wares during the commercial breaks. And, since the producers care more about making the show last now than making the show last five years from now, it is easy to sacrifice future integrity for the sake of a real killer joke here in the present. That, of course, is a shortsighted bit of mismanagement that will doom the series in the end, but for today it has helped reinvigorate the ratings and sell ever more related merchandise.

I've watched since the first Halloween episode. I hated missing The Simpsons on Sundays but now I don't really care. I maybe watched 9 episodes and only through summer reruns have I seen some other ones. Same with the reruns. I'm not really bothered in watching them. If it's one I like I'll watch but The Simpsons to me should've ended when Phil Hartman died.
Futurama was refreshing and I would find when it aired since Fox likes to move shows around or was disapointed it was knocked off due to NFL games. I'll still tune in if it's got a celebrity or a storyline that's interesting or if nothing else looks good but eventually you lose interest.
