But duh...the reason Harvard, MIT etc are in Massachusetts is because they were formed before the US was even a country - nobody had gone very far into the interior. Maybe if this country had been settled west to east it would be the other way around? Regardless, California has Stanford, Cal Tech, Berkeley...not exactly nursery schools?
