well as for some people who have seen teh lotr:rotk trailer that has leaked well i haven't got a chance to see that trailer but there is a trailer for the hobiit kicking around.

and that movie looks mighty sweet - it is also directed by peter jackson - the director of the lotr trilogy. i found the trailer lying around on kazaa while searching for the rotk trailer but got this one instead.

and they already have a release date for it december 16, 2006

if this has already been mentioned then i'm sorry for repeating old news

Yes, this is in fact old news. While topics about the Hobbit have been circulating for some time now, mainly people saying it SHOULD be done and by Peter Jackson.... thats all theres pretty much been.

The trailer you speak of is fan made, and only features clips in it from the recent movie Fellowship of the Ring, and an older film, Dragonslayer.

Great trailer, but it's fake. Besides the clips being a big give away, but the fact that no movie is advertised this early.

Welcome to the world of cinema...

Pixar advertises quite early.

Peter Jackson's next project is King Kong, If the Hobbit gets made he won't direct it.
Unless you want to wait till 2010.lol.

PJ still hasn't finished RotK yet. Why would there be a trailer for the Hobbit even if it is real??

I remember the post in the LotR forum fro the guy who made this. I d/loaded it and remember it quite well. It was a nice little piece of work :)

Pixar advertises usually a year early, not 3 or 4 years.

And im hoping actors of the previous LOTR will pursuade PJ to do the Hobbit, or maybe New Line with a nice offer. We already know Ian Mckellen has told PJ that he would want to do it and with him.

And I think it would be best to do it with the original Bilbo actor, as he looks no different in the flashback in the beginning of FOTR. So if going to be done, it needs to be atleast started within the next 2-4 years if done right.

Exactly Fanible - if it's going to be done it has to be in the next few years. Otherwise it'll look like someone trying to cash in LotR and make a budget Hobbit adaption with totally different actors.

There was some discussion when this first came up if Ian Holm should still be cast as Bilbo as he's 60 years younger in the Hobbit than when we see him in LotR. But we do see him in Gollum's cave in the prologue of Fellowship and I think it'd be best to keep the same actors (if it ever gets made)

Actually I think they filmed all the movies at the exact same time :)

Um... but he's still not finished with ROTK.

Each film, prior to their year release, they've worked on it till December.

They are currently fine touching ROTK, and cutting/editing it.

gloin is in the hobbit, but gimli isn't. i think that gloin was the one that you meant. but it could be done, as in find a cast of dwarves, and it would give WETA another big project to do

Or just find a big cast of big men. It would make sense anyway as Bilbo is with them a lot. Rather than having lots of real dwarves and work on special effects to make Holms fit in around them.

naah it has to have dwarves thats one of the best things about the hobbit

I really hope this gets made. And I hope Ian Mckellen, Ian Holm, and Andy Serkis all do it.

Not to mention Hugo Weaving returning as Elrond. Though some people didn't like his portrayal of the character, it's too late now. You may as well stay with the same actors.

Um... well they WOULD be dwarves in the movie. Having big men bigger than a hobbit actor, so they look normal in comparison when next to eachother, but with effects all of them would be shorter than the humans. Thats what they did with LOTR.

I thought the cartoon Hobbit was the best Tolkien cartoon made movies of the bunch, although it's not great.

hugo was really good as elrond IMO. i would be glad to see all the actors stay, unless, like Sir Ian Holm, it could be detrimental to his health. you know, with his age and sicknesses and all that?

that is fine, if it will hinder them (physically) for the rest of their lives. i think that most of the other actors would return
