Obviously everybody would love to see a fifth Karate Kid movie, and Ralph Macchio's schedule isn't exactly jam-packed, so why aren't they making it?? He could fight Hillary Swank (who was trained by Miyagi in Karate Kid 4.) Come on, admit it, you'd all love to see it!!

Miasma-san: Very good attempt to derive some humor. However, KK is so far gone, it's not even funny to talk about a 5th installment. Paint the fence...

Karate Kid I is one of the films that I grew up with in the great decade that was the 80's, I loved theis film.. In my opinion, it was the original and first "...Bullies-beat-me-up-so-I-will-learn- Karate-from-an-old-wise-man-and-get-my-on-back-and-the-girl...."
part 2, 3 and 4 waste of time
and now you want part 5?
This is dead and buried, leave it to rest.

I'm glad to hear we're all in favor of Part 5!! Maybe we could start a petition and send it off to John Avildsen (or whatever the director's name was.) Watching Ralph Macchio get beat up by Hillary Swank would make a great climactic scene... you all know it! Don't deny it!!

If you haven't figured out by now...this is Miasma's technique...he likes to post absurd/sarcastic comments and watch people react. I think the same thing happened over in the Matrix forum. He's a covert troller...actually funny to watch some times.

Everybody, I think you got everybody and nobody confused. If someone would even touch this project they should be excommunicated from Hollywood. This a worse idea then Rocky VI, which sadly is getting done. Who in there right mind would even rent this let alone pay $10.00 to see it a theatre.

HIllary Swank was the worst Karatie Kid taught by Mr. Miyagi along with her boyfriend who tried to play Jonny Cage in Mortal Combat Annihilation and Jack in that great comedy Airborne with Seth Green and Jack Black. If they make a fifth Ralph Macchio better be in it, or at least Hillary Swank better not be.

HAHAHA Holy CRAP! Somebody remembers the movie Airborne other than me, that movie was awsome! Anyhow, about Karate Kid...I loved the first movie, the 2nd was ok, the 3rd sucked, and the last one was pathetic. Lets leave it at that, they get worse as they go. The first one should have been the only one ever made IMO.

I never considered The Next Karate Kid to be part of the series. Besides, Pat Morita is a well liked stand up comic in Japan, so he'll be okay
I picked up the real trilogy on DVD for 20 bucks, and all of them are awesome:D. The Japanese chick from part II was beautiful, so much better than Elizabeth Shue.

Maybe a possible plot (convoluted that it would be) could be that Daniel Laruso (Ralph) returned Mr. Myagi's ashes to his village in Okinawa and is reunited with Keiko. Years later, his daughter is experiencing sexism at her school in Japan (which I hear is still a huge problem). When the problem goes unatended by the school authorities, Daniel and Keiko give an ultimatum: deal with the bullies or they will.
No one acts, so during the summer holidays, Daniel and Keiko train thier daughter in the art of Karate. I think the rest explains itself.

Don't think it would EVER happen, especially with the recent passing of Morita. Uhm, can't have Karate Kid without a Miyagi. And personally, I don't wanna see it if it does. After the first Karate Kid and it's sequel, the others were a waste.

I actually would see this happening if they hired new writers, since the actor that played miyagi died, they could do the story as miyagi dying in the movie also, as Daniel L, cleared his home, he sees the letter, the letter was an invitation to defend a title of honor from his family, then Daniel going to a tournament to defend Miyagi's honor, or miyagi's niece or something, would get kidnapped because miyagi or his son (because he doesn't have any Daniel would be it) refused to compete, but then he'd have to compete, it would be a tournament where they fight to death, or something like that

YOU'RE DISEASED!!!
Come on! Another Karate Kid movie? In this sorry age? I don't think so! Macchio would look awful in that karategi at his age. Not to mention the fact that Pat (Noriyuki) Morita passed away two years ago.
And don't even think about casting a new kid (Like the new Sandlot movie).
Today's child actors suck! Okay! They suck! Plain and simple. Make a fifth Karate Kid movie and you'll end up with a film 1000x worse than any 3 Ninjas movie.

Get Steven Seagal to be Miyagi's successor. Seagal trains Daniel-san's son, (let's call him something generic) SAM to fight a group of 5th graders who are in league with a madman (played by Dennis Hopper) who plans to blow up the country through millions of video game consoles.

BOO YAH!
Actually Carradine would be truly wasted on this. The difference is that Seagal is widely considered corny, lame, mono-tone, and generally a poor actor.
I like the guy, personally. His films aren't great, but they do entertain.
Speaking of Seagal and Carradine, I'm reminded of that hilarious parody skit from MadTV about Kung Fu: The Movie.

There won't be a Karate Kid 5. There can't be any Karate Kid without Pat Morita, who made the series so popular as Mr. Miyagi. Morita died in November 2005 at the age of 73.
Karate Kid I and II were great. Karate Kid III left a lot to be desired and Karate Kid IV (titled "The Next Karate Kid" with Hilary Swank) was a bit bizarre and non-believable.

In all honesty it was an amateur kempo artist named Thomas Ian Griffith. But now that I think back, it definitely seemed like they were going for a full-on "Seagal parody". Not to mention his unique "Silver bullet" fighting style which turned out to be utter bulls#!t.
Wait! Are they saying Seagal's Aikido style is bulls#!t? Naw! Give the guy his props, he's a lousy actor, but he's definitely one of the greatest Aikido masters alive.

I've only seen the first 4 LotD episodes on DVD. I liked it. Animation wasn't spectacular, but it had some solid writing and the asian cultural aspects were engaging and non-stereotypical.
I noticed there's a LotD game for the Wii now. A fighting game, yet. Don't see many of those. Especially on Wii.
TMNT: Fast Forward sucked ass. How obvious a Sonic X wannabe can a cartoon get. And on the same network, no less!
