View Full Version : What are they wearing?

Couron has now stated that they will NOT be wearing robes. He thinks they should look "hip". Sorry if it breaks some of your hearts but it's the truth. Yes this movie is going to be completely different but you have to admit it IS a new director and it's his choice so if you like it then good but if you dont i'm sorry but you can't do anything about it can you?

tru dat. I read it the other day too, but I can't remember where. At least if we don't like PoA, there will be a new director for Goblet of Fire, my favorite HP book.

They'll be wearing their robes, too. The spy pics from Hagrid's Hut - they are all in robes.

There's also a picture somewhere of Tom Felton and guys who play Crabbe anmd Goyle in NEW slytherin robes somewhere.
Ill try and find it. I think they will be in robes in the film.

I care! I think that they should be wearing robes, if cuaron wants to change everything, why doesnt he just write his own book? :D

Well, where in the book does it say they wear their school robes all the time? Might be they only wear it when on "official" school things - classes, meals, etc. Might be that after hours, they can wear whatever they please. Including on weekends.

Maybe in the beginning credits of the movie, Curon can add "Loosely based on the characters and events from Harry Potter: PoA." :lol j/k
I think Moby's right, after hours they can wear what they want...I don't recall it saying in the book that they had to have their robes on all the time.

Are you talking bout the one in "POA Spoiler Pics"...cuz even though it looks like Malfoy is wearing robes Crabbe and Goyle def. aren't.
And I agree there will be robes...it's just that the climax of the film will be in their "hip" clothes cuz its after-school hours.

Yeah, but, you'll notice in the harry potter book number 3, when theyre in the shreiking shack, theyre wearing theyre robes. because it says something like "Pettigrew grabbed hermione's robes and begged for forgiveness." oh, and most of them wearing muggle clothes, wouldn't some of them be wearing weird outfits? Probably not, but maybe. But, wait...harry says that the weasly kids wear muggle clothes during the summer, but then when theyre at the quidditch world cup, theyre all..oh god, not only am i arguing with others, im arguing with myself! i need to see a shrink x.x
They're wizards and witches they should wear robes, I mean clothes once in a while but I think that the robes are significant and shouldn't be cut out of the movie (or worn only once or twice)

I don't really mind them wearing hip clothes, it makes them look like normal kids, but I'd rather they be wearing robes over the clothes to make it look a little authentic.

Get the picture's URL. You can do this by right clicking on it and going to properties. You'll find the URL there. Copy it and paste it to your reply. It usually puts the IMG tags there automatically. If not just type in the tags yourself.

Queen Me i totally agree (hehe it rimes) but anyway, i think its sacrilege that they're not wearing robes. IMO i think they should keep these small details.

i'm really liking cuaron's style. i think he's taking the series in new directions. at least he's using his creativity here. i've been pretty disappointed with the first two films, so i'm really looking forward to cuaron's take on PoA.
Do you know how to post it now RupertMG?

Do you really think that? because I dont think he was that good. Most of the time it looked as if he was falling asleep, and I think that the most important part of Dumbledore is that he looks old but is actually very active.

yeah now that you mention it, i couldn't really imagine him running around, and becoming angry. but of course the films are not exactly overflowing with award winning actors, there all good, and seeing as how most are children and can improve, i'll just shut up i probably just made a few enemies!

Huh? The films are FULL of award winning actors (unless you are talking about the kids, but they haven't been around long enough to win awards):

John Hurt (http://www.imdb.com/Pawards?Hurt,%20John) (Mr. Ollivander)
Ian Hart (http://us.imdb.com/Pawards?Hart,%20Ian) (Quirrell)
Julie Walters (http://us.imdb.com/Pawards?Walters,%20Julie) (Mrs. Weasley)
John Cleese (http://us.imdb.com/Pawards?Cleese,%20John) (Nearly Headless Nick)

You're too logical -_- -pokes-
Well I still think that Dumbledore was really good (not only as an actor)...he did not look like he was falling asleep. I mean he's just like I pictured him when reading the books. On the other hand the picture I saw of Sirus is totally the oppsite, he looks too mean, but maybe it was just the pciture...we'll see how it turns out in the movie.
Queen Me
08-06-2003, 07:32 PM
well, in the book, it describes him of looking like a skeleton, and theyre scary.
But, then, wouldnt he be skinnier?
I, personally, am dissapointed with the choice of sirius.
BUT i havent seen his acting yet, so i cant make judgements. so, ignore what i just said :D
WELL, im dissapointed in the sense of his looks
yeah...

For someone who watched the movies first and moved on to the books later (me), Richard Harris is perfect. If you'd watch the movies then read the books, you'd have seen the actors faces in those roles as you were reading. Imagine if Gandalf wasn't Ian McClellan in LotR: RotK...it would distract you from the Gandalf because you'd be thinking, this isn't Ian McClellan

Yeah, thats the problem with movies after books, like, you have a picture of this world in your head, then you see something completely different in the movie, and you think that thats what it REALLY looks like. Do i make sense? no. :p
jediknight
08-07-2003, 10:29 AM
Yeah, I know someone who refused to see the LOTR movie for that very reason. In the end, it's just an artists translation of what he/she read...it doesn't make it more valid than your translation though. I'm sure if you had 50 million dollars, you could make a movie based on your vision :p

I totally agree with what you wrote, I'm in the same position - I've started reading the books after seeing Harry Potter and the SS and the COS so whenever it talked about Dumbledore i could picture it in my head and now that they're changing actors, it'll change it for me.
