Actually, Minority Report, if anything, would be recycled from The Demolished Man. It's been around for a long time. It's an old science fiction story.

Ok, they aren't talking about demolition man is a rip-off to any of the movies, it just sounds like the demolished man. And Minority Report and the demolished man are both about the same stuff. Like they can predict murders before they happen...I don't know if that cleared it up but hopefully it did.

"The Demolished Man takes place in a future where a small percentage of the population has developed telepathic powers. Called peepers, they have revolutionized business, government, and, most importantly, law enforcement. In fact, peepers have been so effective that no one has successfully committed an act of premeditated murder in more than 70 years. So Lincoln Polwell, Prefect of the Psychotic Division, is somewhat astonished to be summoned to a popular socialite's home to investigate both a murder and a disappearance."

The Demolished Man was written in 1953, and won a Hugo award. Minority Report, in fact, was based on a short story by Philip K Dick, and also this book The Demolished Man, written by Alfred Bester. So this thread is kinda pointless.

Also, not that it's related, but movies based on Philip K Dick's stories have been some of the greats, which include Minority Report, Blade Runner, Imposter, Total Recall, Screamers, and a movie coming out this year called Paycheck.

Several other movies have been inspired from his many short stories, including the Matrix, Fight Club, 12 Monkeys, and the Truman Show.

P.S.
I have not heard or seen any real news implicating that The Demolished Man is coming to film (although I wouldn't mind). Not that it was implied in this thread at any time, but it is in the Coming Soon forum.

Just out of curiousity, did you READ the Demolished Man recently or something? Did you not notice the 1953 date, or even the more recent released version's 1999? (not that he'll probably reply, being a 1 poster)

But that fact aside is pointless, because Minority Report was based on the book.

I was planning on correcting you, but MovieFreak kinda already did. Yeah he's talking about a book called The Demolished Man, not Demolition Man. It could of confused some people after spidey's comment as well.

just for the record; demolished man was written in 1953 which means you've been deceived by the plagiarism of steven spielberg. what a pity!

uh.... you didn't read Fanible's post did you?

Spielberg didn't plagiarize anything. The movie Minority Report was based off of the short story "Minority Report" by Philip K. Dick, written in 1956. Which if you have ever read the credits to Minority Report (movie) you would see that it Spielburg gives credit to Philip K. Dick.

While both Demolished Man and Minority Report have similer themes they are not identical enough to be considered plagiarism.

Dick wrote approx. 120 short stories and 15 novels, from the 50's-80's.
