This last Star Wars movie will be a historic event, there will be nothing like it!!! Forget those crappy boring Lord of the Rings movies, come 2005 Lucas will show them all how a great epic movie is made unlike these wannabe copiers. Peter the Fat Jackson doesnt stand a chance against Lucas's expert directing, nobody will remember those awful Lord of the Rings movies 10 years from now unlike the Star Wars movies that changed movie making forever. The Matrix movies are rather cool because theyre sci-fi like Star Wars and have a great story, and unlike Lord of the Rings we dont know the ending. Anybody can copy something from a book, how original is that Jackson? come 2005 hes going to be doing the same thing again, with King kong, how unoriginal is that? remaking a classic movie like King Kong. Indiana Jones 4 and Star Wars Episode 3 in 2005 will show Lucas is da man and nothing is going to get in his way because those movies will be the biggest of the year. Us Star Wars fans will be on line to buy a ticket to episode 3 a year before it comes out. I can't think of any other movie that people wait in line for months to see a movie making star wars fans unique. In Episode 3 there will be kickass fight scenes, classic characters will return, nothing will stop it from being the biggest movie of the century!!! whos with me? BEGUN THE LAST GREAT MOVIE EVER MADE!!!!!!!

You hold the LOTR trilogy in disdain because we know its ending already? We already know how Star Wars ends!

You say how easy it is to adapt a book into a movie? How many epic trilogy's have you done lately?

The Star Wars prequels look pathetic next to Lord of the Rings.

nobody will remember those awful Lord of the Rings movies 10 yearsMan, may not like the Matrix and Lord of the Rings, but you are very short sighted. Like the Star Wars movies, the Lord of the Rings trilogy will hold up better over time than the Matrix will.
Lucas's expert directing lol! Lucas isn't known for his directing abilities.
Anybody can copy something from a book, how original is that Jackson? I guess you haven't seen many movies, have you? This is just an absurd statement.
come 2005 hes going to be doing the same thing again, with King kong, how unoriginal is that? remaking a classic movie like King Kong. Indiana Jones 4 and Star Wars Episode 3 in 2005 And sequels are more original than remakes?

I'm a huge fan of everything Star Wars, but I have yet to see the film as an "epic". My definition of an epic is a movie that invokes great emotion and moves the viewer through every human emotion. Star Wars, while a great story, has yet to live up to "epic" porportions.

You know i still don't get whole LOTR fans and Star Wars fans feud. The good thing about these movies is that you can chose one or both of them. These movies are so different, the only similarity is that both of them have character named "DARK LORD" that`s it. Come on people you can love one of them, but don't spend your life trashing the other, i say lets join our forces and fight the real enemy AFFLECK AND LOPEZ!!!!!!!!!!!!

An epic film is usually a movie with a huge production size in terms of sets, extras, costumes, and even length.

I was a huge SW fan back in the late 70s and into the 80s. Now, though, I think LOTR has it beat. Don't get me wrong, I still like SW (especially the original 3), and I'm still looking forward to Episode 3, but I came away from LOTR feeling like I just saw something really cool, and I came away from Episodes 1 and 2 feeling a bit let down.

But, as El Whip said, there's simply no reason to have to decide between the two. Enjoy them both.

Why the need to trash LOTR?Personally,I think the films are great.Sure, they get more critical love then the Star Wars Prequels have, but that doesn't mean you have to hate them...You can love more than one Saga.Hell,I love SW PT,LOTR,The Matrix(Though I was alittle disappointed with Reloaded,Revolutions looks great!),X-Men,and Harry Potter(Though HP:COS was a complete disappointment).

Also,Ep III looks to be great.

Your right, the better term would be a character drama. My point was that just because a movie has a huge production, lots of money, and name brand actors--that doesn't make it great. It might have great effects, but unless your attached to the characters, it won't be one that's cherished after 20 years.

Uhhh, hate to ruin your stupid rant but Lucas WAS inspired by Tolkien......proceed. Both movies rock(although I am more of a LOTR fan). Let's just all get along.

Ghostofzion2003:You say that as a matter of fact, when it is just your opinion. And as much as I love The Matrix Trilogy,it is below the SW PT & LOTR,IMHO.The Matrix Reloaded, while a pretty good film, did not live up to the quality of the original.Where as TTT & AOTC were better than the originals(again,IMHO).

Rocketboy:AOTC was third in the box office race of 2002.Just behing Spider-Man & The Two Towers.

I don't see the need to bash LOTR honestly. They're really great films. You can choose to like both LOTR and SW. They're both great movie series, and they will both stand the test of time.

But Episode 3 will be special, I won't deny that. From what I've been hearing, its gonna rock.

the Original Star Wars will always be the most memorable trilogy EVER. it was the original trilogy. but im afraid the huge disappointments of episode 1 and 2 are hurting the originals' greatness. LOTR has overshadowed the prequels tremendously. Episode 3 is going to have to pull of something HUGE, i mean larger then life, to make these prequels memorable, because i really dont care about these characters in the prequels at all. ROTK is going to give episode 1 a run for its money in the all-time box office chart. everyone's been waiting for the climax. im worried about Indy 4, Lucas has already destroyed the SW franchise why ruin another one?

You can't stop me, first they tried burning me, then they tried burying me, they even tried holy water, but I keep coming back!!!!! By the way, Star Wars Episode 3 will be the greatest movie ever made, period!!!! Lord of the Rings still sucks, Peter "fat" Jackson can put as many stupid elves, goblins, midgets, and fairies in his movies, they will still suck. Jackson can make his King Kong remake which will suck 10x more than Lord of the Rings, he is the most unoriginal person ever, just copying other peoples work, and remakng classics. When Episode 3 is released, it will change the world forever, mark my words, it will be the Age of Lucas, all bow down now!!!!! Good thing everybody agrees with me, oh and the Matrix does kick ass, it comes second to Star Wars, but sorry Neo isnt the One, Lucas is the One, bless him and his Howard the Duck movie, whos with me?

OMG are you for real dude ?? you sound like a 10 year old...its like you dont know what you are talking about...
the original star wars were great movies (2 of them not directed by lucas BTW), the prequel trilogy is far less good, dialogue and acting is crap and special effects look stupid sometimes...the best thing of the prequels is natalie portman (bad acting but still pretty), the matrix movies are way better then the prequels...at least they have special effects...
LOTR movies are the best movies ever, they are what you can call "epic"...
star wars isnt good enough to be warg's shiite in LOTR...a special effect in star wars could not even compare to one in LOTR...anakin isnt cool enough to be a hair on aragorn's bum...and george lucas (who by the way is fat as well) isnt a good enough director to put together the end credits of LOTR...

HAHAHAHHAHA You damn Lord of the Rings midget wizard lovers, get out of the Star Wars message board and go back to Doromir or whatever one of those stupid places in Lord of the Rings are called. You comparing Peter "Giganticly Fat" Jackson to George Lucas, LOL, you saying Lucas is fat compared to Jackson? Jackson= two Lucases, that burger eating drunk looking bastard director. Jackson zombie movies, and stupid michael j fox flop movie Frighteners to Star Wars, and the Indiana Jones movies? hmmm, u tell me whos the better director and writer, and who will be remembered 10 years from now. Maybe next year Jackson will actually be nominated as a director for an Oscar, sucker. No Lord of the Rings movie will surpass the original Star Wars or Phantom Menace movie in box office, even Harry Potter beat Lord of the Rings in 2001, and Spidey beat Two Towers in 2002, theyll never be the number one movie of the year cause Return of the King will not surpass Matrix Reloaded or Revolutions and definitely not that stupid fish Nemo, better luck in 20 years when they remake these Lord of the Ring movies again. Special Effects, the Star Wars movies revolutionized special effects, nothing better out there than the Star Wars movies in special effects. Lord of the Rings special effects, HA, those walking talking trees had me laughing down the aisles, looked like an episode of Sesame Street, of and how about those dog like monsters with those guys riding them, HA, talk about bad special effects there. Face it, there will never be anything greater than the Star War movies, whos with me?

Highlander = Fanboy

No disrespect to the intelligent fans of the Star Wars saga, but of all the "Fanboys" out there I think that the SW ones are the worst. Second to them are the Matrix fanboys. Everyone's got a right to their opinion, and if you really enjoyed the last two Star Wars films, great. Not everyone did, but to each his own. But these guys who praise them as the greatest films ever made, thereby making every other film out there crap drive me nuts.

At least they don't get all high and mighty like the Matrix fanboys who insist that if you disagree with them you "just don't understand"...

Understand this: Episode II sucked, in my humble opinion. I think Lucasfilm is getting more and more greedy and taking its fans for granted, treating them more like worshipers. I think the very idea of "Hyperspace" is the biggest slap in the face to Star Wars fans everywhere that they could have come up with. I also am keeping my mind open about Episode III....I truly hope that they do a good job....

....but I'm not holding my breath, either.

I agree with above.
I think...Star Wars is taken waaay too seriously. When it was first started back in the 70s it was being made in the same vein as an enjoyable Saturday morning cartoon. That's what it turned out to be.For some reason people hold the originals up as some sort of holy grail of film-making.They are not great movies.Enjoyable yes,but by no means great films. The dialogue is bad,the editing choppy and acting terrible. But they are fun films to watch and enjoy. These films were made to entertain guys in their early teens.
The problem with the new films,is that the guys who saw the original films back in the 70s have now grown up,and expect the new films to change the world.Lucas is doing excactly what he was doing 30 years ago.I agree in that the humour of the originals has just vanished, but to be honest Ep 1 and 2 are the same as the originals. The prequels are being made to appeal to the originals audience, guys in their early teens. The majority of these people enjoy the new films just as much as the old ones. It's just a shame that some of the older fans take it too seriously and are expecting too much.

Highlander is once again proving that he has absolutely NO artistic sensibilities. Even though I am a huge fan of the books, TLOTR's films hold no interest for me at all. But even with that, I can clearly see that they are superior to the last two Star Wars films.
