View Full Version : MATRIX REVOLUTIONS - Best of the Trilogy?

The way i see it, Revolutions has the potential to become the best movie of the year.
Take the great story telling of the first (except now about the death of the hero), the great special effects of reloaded, and the pacing of the first and Revolutions is my favourite movie of the year.
But how likely is Revolutions to better the first 2? By how much?

im betting it will be the best of the Trilogy, if for the reason alone that it will answer all questions.
Plus, from the looks of the trailers, there is still gonna be some sweet fights.

I hope it's the best of the trilogy, and the trailer makes it look great! But the trailer(s) for The Matrix Reloaded also made me believe that it could be better than the original.Unfortunately, the final product was a disappointment(but still a pretty good film).

Hopefully it will be better...and of course, hopefully it will answer all the questions we ALL have.

I think it will be great and cooler but IMO I think I will always love the Bruly Brawl of neo and smith in reloaded..just awesome...Let's just hope I'm wrong and they make the burly brawl look like childs play

From what the trailers show you, there seem to be some really cool fights, and it's SUPPOSE to answer ALL questions,so there's a chance that it's the best.

I reserve judgement for when I actually get to see it. Who can say? Personally I don't think anything can top the first one but I'm sure I'll enjoy it anyway.

Only the Oracle knows...
Do I hope it will be the best of the trilogy? Sure...but that's all pure speculation right now. Revolutions may make Reloaded seem a lot better after its released, ala ROTJ and ESB.

I'm one of the few people who actually prefer Reloaded to the first one.Don't get me wrong I love the first one but Reloaded cranked everything I love up by 100.Upon first viewing I was underwhelmed by mostly everything but upon multple viewings this is definetly my favourite movie. The preview of Revloutions was fantastic and god I must admit that it looks like the best in this innovative trilogy.I want to see the "super brawl',I want to see the final war and I want the conclusion!!! Word is that it's the most thought provoking of the series and I just hope the filmmakers don't f**k us over.

DARKMANX:I also enjoyed it more on my second and third viewings, but for me,there was still disappointment.
jorich:Not to turn this into the SW forum, but I find it interesting that you think ROTJ made TESB a better film...I find TESB makes ROTJ look like a weaker film, because TESB is much more engaging,IMHO.

Im going to assume you're young and were spoiled by the films all having been released on video for you to see at once.
If you were alive when the films were released, you would understand Jorich's comment. No, ESB would not have been good alone, and the final chapter made it better, because it answered the unanswered. He wasn't saying one film was better than the other, nor did he even express which one he enjoyed more. He simply said that Return of the Jedi made Empire Strikes Back more enjoyable, because you now have the full story, just as Revolutions will most likely make Reloaded more enjoyable.
That's why people who were old enough to remember when SW was released in the theatres are comparing it to The Matrix trilogy, because they left Reloaded feeling almost the same way they did when they left Empire Strikes Back. Imagine that there wasn't ever a Return of the Jedi, and there you have it.
And to sum it up, you pretty much just misread his comment thinking he was saying that he thought Return of the Jedi was a better film, which even if that is his opinion, that's not what he was saying.

Fanible...every time I see your posts I feel like I'm reading something Conan O'Brien has written...you've definitely made a brand name for yourself. I'd be horribly disappointed if you didn't actually look like him :)
Anyways, sticking to the thread, my brief remark regarding ROTJ and ESB was merely a terse way of indicating that I believe Revolutions will be great in its own right, but that the answers it provides will elevate Reloaded to the most highly-regarded movie of the Matrix trilogy.
Oh...and for the record...yes, ESB is my fave.

They're going to have to pull off some crazy **** to beat the Burly Brawl and Freeway chase.....
Storywise, I think it'll be better then Reloaded. Actionwise, haven't seen enough yet to tell.

Why are You so sure Revolutions will answer all the questions ? In my opinion lots (meaning LOTS) of questions that aren't directly brought up in M1 or Reloaded, but are constructed after multiple seeing or realising certain aspects of the plot WON'T be answered...there may be clue to the answers, but mainly the answers will come to the main problems and lots of side questions will remain fogged. Although some of the answers may be deducted i think there will still remain space for forums such as these. Just take how many different subjects of threads has here been yet. I do not expect a 4 hour movie to answer them, not talking about Revolutions which, i believe, isn't going to be longer than 2:45

I don't think the Wachowski's (sp) wrote all these little side questions on purpose to f**k with our heads. We came up with them later down the road so they don't really owe it to us to answer the questions we came up with IMO.
In most movies that claim to answer all the questions, the answers seem to raise new questions.

I think it will be better than Reloaded but i'm not sure if it will be better than the first.

Try not to think TOO much on what the final answers will be; otherwise you might come out a bit disappointed. Just wait for truth to evolve on its own and quite speculating! ;)

The best thing to do is read a little as possible in regard to revoultions....It ruined reloaded for me.....
Not reading stuff about T3 has made it the movie of the year so far for me.

Fanible:Fair enough.I was born in 85' and only really got into SW with the SE.
Riddle:Actionwise,I think Revolutions will far exceed Reloaded...
For me,the car chase was a disappointment. It felt too digital(but then again, it is The Matrix, so it has to have that feel), and there was an over use of Slow motion.
However, I do agree that the Burly Brawl may be hard to top. But thousands of smiths sounds even better than one hundred! And as long as there is an aerial battle including all of the smiths, it could have very little problem topping the Burly Brawl, imho.

Revolutions certainly has the potential to break new ground in terms of mind-bending content. I hope that the plot resolution is as complete as it should be, but it should also force the viewer to think carefully about the finale's meaning in order to fully understand it. The Smith/Neo conflict is one of the best aspects of the movie, and I can't wait for the Superbrawl and the promised helicopter chase.
