(there probably has been a topic on this show, but I looked and I don't see anything so HAH!)

Anyone as stoked as I am for the upcoming 5th season of this great show(my own personal favorite)? Lay down some predictions here: deals, WHO'S GONNA GET WHACKED, deaths that are non-whacking in the family...

discuss.

My bet is that Paulie will die. :)

Paulie is the obvious choice, but that's the great thing about that show, it could be anyone, even Tony Soprano.

Heh, it's most likely the last season so Tony is a HIGH probability.

I think one of the kids is going to die, ala Godfather III to end the series.

Tony Soprano being murdered is the only way to end the series

I actually thought it might happen last season, and I read that Gandolfini was phoning David Chase at home after the first season because he was worried about his character getting whacked. I do feel kind of bad for Vincent Pastore, because he's really famous now but as far as I know he doesn't have a regular gig, plus he has to put up with people yelling, "Hey Big Pussy!" at him wherever he goes. :)

That's what Chase said, but we all know he got a ton of money and that is why he is doing 6. Six season should take what 11 years to be finished on HBO. Does Chase work with Lucas?

This show is just brilliant. Definitely one of the best shows ever on television, in my book. I think if the show ends with Tony Soprano being whacked, that would be the ballsiest ending of a series, EVER. So I am all for it.

Sure, season 4 was kind of a dissapointment(except for that brilliant season ender....best TV acting I've ever seen from James and Edie).

Season 5 is looking to be fantastic with the addition of Steve Buscemi to the cast. He directed my personal favorite episode out of all the seasons, "The Pine Barrens", and now he's gonna be acting in the show

This is gonna be a GREAT season, I'm betting(really, haven't they all been amazing?). Last season mainly focused on Tony and Carmela's marriage, I'm guessing this one will focus on the business and Anthony Jr. possibly getting some ties to it, possible foreshadowing......but that's just my guess.

Or, the escalating tensions with New York will go over and the boiling point, Paulie will get whacked and Christopher will start showing leadership qualities to run the business.....

Sopranos homepage (http://www.hbo.com/sopranos/?ntrack_para1=leftnav_category0_show0#)

It has a clip from Season 5 on there, and from what you get from it the hunt is seriously on for Furio. Tony's got everyone in Italy "after that ****ing immigrant"

sphericthor

I think Tony has everyone he knows after Furio from what I've gathered in that clip

It'll be surprising if he doesn't get hit but there's no way he's getting away from Tony

Brock Landers
01-06-2004, 06:07 AM
And I still think A.J. will start showing interest in the family business, and that Johnny Sack will reveal to Tony that Paulie has been speaking to New York behind T's back.....so Paulie will die, I'm betting.

SPOILERS FROM ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY!

As series creator David Chase has said, the new season will see the introduction of the ''class of 2004'' -- several gangsters convicted during a sting in the 1980s who've now served their time, are back on the street, and want back in on the family action. One of those, it has already been reported, is Tony Blundetto, a cousin of Tony Soprano's, who's played by Steve Buscemi. Others, the Post reports, are played by Robert Loggia (his character has the wonderful name Feech La Manna), Frank Vincent (a character actor who's played a million made guys), Joe Santos (best known for playing Rockford's police pal Lt. Becker on ''The Rockford Files''), and ''Oz'' alumna Patti D'Arbanville. Her character, a brash bookie named Lorraine Calluzzo, has a particularly intense scene in an early episode which the Post declines to spoil.

On the home front, things are much as they were at the end of last season: Tony and Carmela are still separated, Meadow is still a student at Columbia, and A.J. is still a lazy ne'er-do-well. Uncle Junior is acting forgetful, and this time, he may not be faking it. Taking care of him, as before, is Bobby "Bacala" Baccalieri, who, in the interim between seasons, has married Tony's sister Janice. Beyond those details, the Post adheres to the code of omerta.

I don't think this too much spoiler info but here is a summary.

Not much happened they introduced a couple of guys that came back from the can. Paul and Chris reconciled their differences. Tony and Carm are still broken up. It was mostly about Tony, and his pursuit of Dr. Melfi.

I'm a big-time Sopranos fan and just a couple of days ago I completed watching the fourth season which I downloaded off suprnova. Even though I don't have HBO, I do have the ability to download so I'm set for this season. I have watched the first three episodes of season five and have yet to watch the fourth.

I enjoyed last season just as much as the previous three and this season is shaping up nicely. I have no problem with how season four sort of focused more on Tony's family and marriage and a little less on the business and people getting whacked. Really, you can only have so much of that stuff before it starts getting ridiculous and unrealistic. The Sopranos has so many great characters which can sort of act as a detriment sometimes when they dedicate an episode to one set of characters and then almost abandon those same characters in the next episode to focus on other, equally intriguing characters. This juggling act is necessary however, in that it allows the writers to develop these secondary characters and create such a rich community. Although the new cast members they added are great, especially Loggia as the hotheaded Feech, it worries me that some other characters will get lost in the shuffle now.

It's too difficult to name a favourite episode but the one that had the most impact on me was the season three episode where Ralph beats that stripper to death. I actually found it difficult to watch and after that I seriously hated that character and it was too bad because I am a big Pantoliano fan. It's safe to say then that I really enjoyed that season four episode:hehe: . My favourite characters on the show are Uncle Junior and Christopher. Christopher is just a charming guy and you really want to see him do well, not to mention he has a temper and could go off at any minute which makes him unpredictable and fun to watch (he needs to keep his damn hands off of Adriana though:mad: ). Junior is just so damn cool and almost everything that comes out of his mouth cracks me up.

^^Yeah I think you could be right about Adriana gettin smoked as she is currently going the route of Big Pussy. As for another potential, I think maybe Johnny Sack might have it coming because he seems a little power hungry and I figure it would be him over someone like Carmine Jr, but really it could be anyone.

the massage guy going nuts like that shock me. That came out of nowhere. He seemed like the sane one...well sane in comparrision. Then he basicly just beat the hell out of the guy when things were going rather well over something stupit

I hope the next couple of episodes deal more with the business side of things and the power struggle between Johnny Sac and Carmine Jr. Now that Blundetto seems to be going back to his roots I'm very excited to see where they're going to take his character. I would like to start seeing more connectivity between each episode though because in the most recent one it seems like the whole Tony/Adriana thing never happened. I want to see more with the good old boys (Paulie, Sil) and what happened to Junior for god's sake:confused: . We saw him in the second episode showing some signs of alzheimers and since then, like one shot of him spreading the rumour about Adriana and Tony. He is one of my favourite characters and he's getting shafted.

Nothing...just ended with no explanation. What about Ralphie? Adriana and the Feds? They keep setting up these great plot points and I start thinking, "Yeah, now it's going to get good." Then we get a half hour dream sequence. Disappointment is growing...

Dream sequence was pretty wild. You can't make that stuff up. Chase has dropped story lines in the past, so it shouldn't be a shock that he continues to drop them. Season 5 hasn't been as good as 3-2-1 but it is still a very entertaining show.

lol exactly what i was thinking but i guess there just trying to leave as many doors open as they can so when they run low on ideas the ycan go back and see what feuds and rivalies they can work with

I so saw this coming, but tonights episode was really awesome, and the last one is looking good too from the preview.

But this is the last season, is it not? I would like another season, but I dont wanna see it drag on.

I read that there is going to be one final season left after this, so I guess next week will be really good, then leave us hanging for another 15 months.

I did not see the preview, can someone break it down for me?

Soundscream.....I think the best part of this was the way in which this person was setup to their demise; beautifully done by the people around them.

There will be one more season, though only 10 episodes. Chase said he couldn't finish the story this season. Looked like there were going to be some serious beatings going down in the finale. NJ and NY are going to explode.

Yea I think its going to turn into a war between NY and NJ

Holy crap! Now that's what I'm talkin about:applaud: ! What an episode. I for one was surpised at Adriana's death because they show Chris almost choke her to death so I figured she dodged a bullet this episode and then the shot of Chris looking at that guy with his kids and maybe Chris was thinking of going with Adriana and starting a family etc etc... That was some seriously cold-hearted sh** to do to the one you love. I think Chris may blow his top in the next episode. And how awesome was that conversation between Tony and Johnny Sac!!? What a priceless moment. We got a war on our hands folks:cool: .

No theres still one more season and eve ntalk of a film but id rather see a guarenteed closure rather then an open ending if movie talks are true

Finally, 2 seasons of talking are finally leading to something good.

Last episode was great and finale will be just as great. But that doesn't make up for the bad seasons this and the past season were

People are pretty mad about the events that unfolded in Sunday's episode. Can't wait for 06/06

After a second viewing, "Long Term Parking" is my favorite episode of the 5th season.

Last episode was one of the best but not sure if I liked the one whereChristopher almost got whacked. Driving up in that field with the rain, and it being dark. The emotion. . That was a great one too.

Well the season finale was basically what I expected

Steve Buscemi has a habit of dieing in everything he is in

So we have to wait till jan 2006 for the last season...

I almost thought there'd be second death on last night's episode, with Tony having to run 3 miles home. :D

I have to say my favorite part of the episode was right after T walked into Paulie's house...

Well, i must say a GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT was the finale. With how they lead up to this show, i was expecting an all out gang war.

SPOILER......

Steve's death scene was horrible. At first i thought it was a dream.

I feel the whole last 2 seasons have been just setting up an amazing few shows (hopefully the 10 episodes of next season)

overall: this season was just as weak as last seasons. Im not really a fan anymore. If i want to hear Italians curse and talk and argue, I'll listen to my own family at the dinner table (Im Italian so that isn't racist and i hope it doesn't offend anyone)

Good last episode and a fine season all around. Looking forward to next season to get some answers.

So was this new rat from the Soprano crew (can't remember his name) just revealed to be a rat in this episode, or did I miss something? If he is a part of Tony's crew, then how come the only people indicted are Brooklyn? I guess this includes Phil as well then right? I thought the Blundetto death was pretty gruesome and the look on his face was really creepy. Sort of makes you wonder how Tony S. could be such a caring father one moment and then go and whack his own cousin with a damn shotgun the next. LOL at the very end. I thought it was the bear when Tony was coming through the bushes.

I really hope next season gives Junior more screen time, as he had precious little this season and he is so damn good.

SQueek

Tony did what he did because he knew what they would do if they found his cousin, so yes he may have shot him but thats alot less painful that the torture he was going to get.

The rumor is the next season won't air for 23 months which is pretty ridiculous. This is according to Peter King, he writes for CNNSI and is on inside the NFL on HBO. I would think he would have some info on it.

Rogue, the way I see it Junior's time has come and gone, didn't you see him in the last episode, hes old and losing his mind. If hes going to do anything in the last season its die.

Well, that may be true, but I think him losing his mind would bring some much needed humour to the show. I really liked the episode this year where he went senile and started looking for Johnny. Many of the funniest lines ever uttered on the show have come from him. I'm not asking for things to be centred around him or anything, just a little more screen time is all. I hope he gets a good send-off and not just another funeral scene.

I thought this season was the last one. Whats the deal they said it was but there are more episodes yet that was the season finale. I'm confused.

Chase couldn't wrap it up this season. They are doing another season 10 episodes to air in 23 months. Don't you think there would have been a little more hoopla if last Sunday was it?

Yeah that was bugging me, still two years? I'll lose interest by then it wasn't that great of a season finale.

Dude. I do not think I can wait 23 months for Tony and Carm. Thank goodness 6 feet came back. Did anyone catch the premeir? It did not disappoint. No spoilers here!
The new show on HBO looks cool too. I am a fan of good diologue, like in Swingers, and I think Entourage is going to entertain. I have never seen Jeremy Piven in a bad flick. Piven is quality acting, imho.
