I saw a screening of the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre Movie last night and it was AWSOME:applaud: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've never seen the original, but other audience members said the two cannot be compared. The movie was not a teen horror pic or slasher movie, it actually built up all of your adreneline throughout the movie and made you crap your pants. The storyline was good as well. When this movie comes out, you all have to go and see it, it will scare the **** out of you  :waa:!!! Michael Bay produced the movie and he was sitting behind me and my friend, i didnt know who he was until a guy went up to him to get his autograph. Got any questions about the movie, ask them.

Jessica Biel was awsome in this movie, she completely shed the 7th Heaven image. everyone was rooting for her throughout the movie. Leatherface kind of reminded me of the creature from jeepers creepers but when he revs up his chainsaw and wears the faces of his victims, he's scary as hell. The music was scary too, more like Blair Witch, not alternative like the teen slasher flicks. Yes, there is a cripple in the movie, both of his legs are amputated and he's in a wheelchair. The movie was like an hour and 45 to 50 minutes. i don't know if leatherface changed cause i didnt see the first movie. my friend and i got the screening tickets when we were waiting in line at the movies on a friday night, this guy came up to us and asked if we liked scary movies then gave us a pass for 2. in the focus group at the end, they said some changes might be made depending on what comments we had. sorry it took so long to reply. kick ass!

As stated on other TCM threads , either film were based on a true story.Inspired very loosely from Ed Gein. That's it.Read the poster, it says Inspired by a true story. They would never get away with saying it was true nowadays, we all know the difference.

so, uh, is this destined for another series of tedious sequels?

I HATED the first texas chainsaw massacre with a passion, but I was rather excited when entertainment weekly said they would be doing a remake because with our modern tecnology alot of things could be improved or made better. When I saw the tralier for the new one I thought that it was ok, but after hearing the review I'm gonna take him at his word that its a good movie and hope that he was right. So I guess i'll check this out along with Gothika, and whatever dark castle movie they bring out for halloween.

Um... well the first one already spawned a few sequels.

And this is a remake of the first.

I wish that I could have been a part of something like that, as much as I go to the movies I should be president of the public screening. The only thing that I was a part of like this was when my school took a trip to some indepent local movie theater and we screened some low budget movie that no one even saw, and the last time was when I did a survey on upcoming movie traliers to see what the young people think is hip and cool about movie previews, that was cool to do however.

Hey Dude,

I just watched the original Chainsaw Massacre about 2 weeks ago, loved it, and can't wait for this one. I have a few questions though...overall, 1, how was the acting? You said Jessica Biel was excellent, but what about the rest of them? 2, they say R. Lee Ermy, the a**hole from Full Metal Jacket is the a**hole in this...how completely screwed up was he, and did he do a good job at it? and 3, there have been a lot of films in horror land that have failed to make it to classic status...very very few....would you say that this will make it, possibly, to the classic status, or is it just a good time? By the way, I love the trailer, and I agree with ILOVEKATIE, it is one of the best I have seen in a long time. Overall, from what I've seen this year, not counting the preview of ROTK, the 3 I'm dying to see from their trailers are Kill Bill, Peter Pan, and this...here's to hoping they all turn out well eh?

KurdtKobain84, where do you live in Southren California? Do you know the theaters or places name?

And on a side note, we were both born on the same day, and that day was when The Texas Chaisaw Maccacre really happened. :D

There was never any actual Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And not even the studio that is making it is trying to claim otherwise, instead saying that the movie was 'Inspired by actual events' instead of 'Based on'

These are the real events.

As you will read, there was never any chainsaw wielding maniac. Just a really sick fella with alot of time on his hands and very odd hobbies.

yea KINGKURT, i live in San Bernardino County. The theater was at the Edwards 22 theaters right by the Ontario Mills mall.

and to REBELWITHACAUSE, surprisingly all of the actors did a good job, there wasn't much overacting at all. the beginning had the typical guys smoking weed and acting dumb, but that doesn't last long because then they pick up the hitchhiker... i'm not sure if this is a classic, but it was one of the better scary movie i have seen. IMO, it was one of the best scary movies i have seen. but on the classic thing, i would compare it's status to THE RING. TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE will get a lot of hype after opening weekend by word of mouth and will do well.

a note to all, don't miss this when it comes out, I sure as hell will see it again opening weekend. oh, and take an extra pair of unders.

I’m a huge Texas Chainsaw Massacre fan and I too am looking forward to the remake. I’ve watched the trailer countless times and it looks visually stunning and I think it’s going to be one hell of a scary film and remake for that matter. Being that I am a TCM fan, I have a few questions for you.
1. How realistic and disturbing is the film? What made the original so damn scary is the fact that it looked and felt real. It’s like watching something that was really happening in front of your eyes and that is what made it so realistic, scary and disturbing.
2. Was the group of kids realistic? Did the acting seem real? I understand that you haven’t seen the original (Go out and watch it!) and that you can’t compare the group of teens in the original and the remake. I’m curious on how if the teens seemed like real people or obvious written up characters by played out by bad acting.
3. How vicious is Leatherface and his family? How many people are in the family (the original had four)? How crazy were they?
4. How violent was the film? So many people think The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is this ultra violent horror film when really it’s not. There was barely any violence in it!
5. Is the character of Erin (Jessica Biel) related to anyone in the group of friends? Is her last name Hardesty? Before watching the trailer, I thought that the character of Kemper was Erin’s brother like how in the original; Sally’s brother was Franklin. Obviously it the trailer, when Erin and Kemper kiss, there not related. Is she related to Morgan, Andy?
6. Please rate the film out of 10.
