I loved the first one, I just watched it this afternoon. Depending on where you live, I don't know, but where I live its reaching evening but the League has struck me wickedly since this afternoon, profoundly, well...not profoundly but it was great escapism. The tv spots proclaimed "An fantasy in the syle of Raiders of the lost Ark", and I agree.
Connery even plays an founding father of Indiana Jones in a way, well two if you include the Bond series, the sixties Bond.
But anyway, enough praise. Is there any plans of an sequel? I read there was conflict between the star and the director, so will this turmoil affect plans for an sequel? Also, the ending would seem to suggest no plans, no plans at all, yet can it?
Will Quatermain be able to rise from the dead into the new century?

i think the ending really really really puts it up for a sequel, why would they put the whole chanting old man in there if he wasnt gonna come back to life, i think it was an awesome ending and hope they do make a sequel
but i loved this movie, and had huge doubts about it which were stomped with the great acting, action, and somewhat story. everyone was awesome, even *****y shane west was pretty good.
if they did make a sequel i would love it

I don't think this movie appeals to all audiences! I think it appeals to most of the dark movie fanatics! It just feels like it's too dark of a movie that just doesn't have the box office charm! By the way, how do you get it to do that black out thing! That's cool!

I THOUGHT "LXG" SUCKED!! I can't believe Sean Connery signed on for that crap....(well, I forgot about "The Avengers.")

I loved this movie, and i dont think it appeals to people who like "dark movies", first of all i'm not totally into "dark movies" and i dont even consider this movie a dark movie. but thats my opinion.
i know its not doing too well at the box office, but some movies make sequels when the first one didnt make ****.
example: jeepers creepers

Tomb Raider...
Oh, and another thing, this is a review that shows why LXG is problably the best movie of the summer:

He takes jabs at Ebert, and critics in general, I loved it! Also, read the first review of "Pirates" which relates to his overall point, check it out.

Which famous literary characters would you guys like to see in LXG 2 (assuming its not based on the comics)?
I'd say...
Sherlock Holmes
Rhett Butler
Dr. Van Helsing ;)

dr. van helsing would be really cool, but since he already has his own movie coming out (i think thats the same guy right?) so i wouldnt think he would be, but nice list

Im confused how it shows that. I mean, I didn't read it all, but LXG only got an 18% at rottentomatoes. Which although is the average review for it, but that says enough for me when going there. Besides that though, I tend to steer clear of Rottentomatoes.
I thought LXG was ok, and it was good at parts. But the characters and character development was very absent at times. I didn't care for pretty much any of them, add in the hoaky effects... but besides that, yeah it was alright. One effect I did enjoy though was the camera tricks with Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde. Everything else was pretty god awful, practicly 10 years out of date.
One problem I had was also the absence of any realism at all. I felt like these people were the only one's on Earth. I couldn't pick up any feeling like this was normal Earth, and there was actually other people around and in danger of a war. No cities or streets were really populated except a scene where they were partying in the center of Venice.... which seemed to have way too many normal roads. An empty city in France. No one to care or say. It was an all out banged up interesting fantasy world, with what it seemed like, no one in it but the characters. I couldn't feel anything, because it all seemed outrageous.
Im starting to wonder why I liked it. I still left the theatre somewhat satisified. But just cause I like a film or not, it's just kinda obvious that a sequel probably won't be made.

I wouldn't guess a sequel would happen because of the huge failure, but you never know, but if the first one didnt do well a 2nd one would do worse. I doubt the cast would sign on anyway.
Fanible

Well the cast has already signed on for a sequel, so if it happened, all the original cast would be doing it.

I disagree, i think that it would be more succesful then the first because after LXG hits DVD and VHS and is rented many times it would have a huge following by loyal fans wanting to see more.
but thats what i think, I hope they have a sequel, i don't understand why people didn't like this movie, i thought it was excellent, not the best movie in the world, but still excellent

On reflection, there really wasn't that much of a human presence besides that party in downtown Italy, an new years party maybe, perhaps[?]. Anyway, the sense of a less than striking presence of a population in the set pieces gave off an chest board vibe, heroes against villians.

On the link, the author says most critics had an vedetta to sink LXG and dismiss it as a disaster because of the rumours of strife on the set between Sean and Norrington. Very unfortunate really, and I tend to agree because almost all the negative reviews have almost a common thread throughout them all, like a callaboration...

I could see them making a straight to video sequal with a completely new cast. I wouldn't bet on a big budget sequal. Think along the lines of From Dusk til Dawn 2 and 3.

Adding a extra page to make it look important. Who knows, the 20th century heads could be watching...
And a direct to video sequel is not what Im looking for, gah...

I think that the movie would have been better if ended differently, i didn't like the ending.

They should have had quartermain riding off on a horse into the sunset or sipping tea, or have a girl by his side, or embark on another adventure, or even betray the League somehow, or something besides the actual ending thats there...something more adventurious.
Or maybe he gets abducted by Aliens, which will lead to the "Mars Atttacks!"(copyright);) League sequel.
I don't know...
