i was suprised this was rated pg, it had violence (nothing real bad, a bloody nose at worst) language (kiss my @$$, ba$tard, and @$$hole) sexual content ( a discussion about making love and using plastic toys and soft cheese) nudity (it shows an old mans butt) and racism (towards the french). i still thought it was an ok movie, pretty funny at some parts, but i think it should of been rated pg-13 because now i will probably get a bunch of complaints from parents while im at work serving popcorn.

the scary thing is, in most of the promotional material, Rowan Atkinson looks like Sean Connery!

Oh yeah, Johnny English. Well, I can easily see those things getting around the ratings. They cursed in Hercules, a Disney movie. I think thats the first time I noticed Disney starting to do that.
Anyways, I understand what you mean. That is quite a bit of stuff. Is that actually next to the PG rating? I would hope so. The man's butt, the bloody nose... those things I think are ok, even the cursing... and French insults are pretty accepted, and most young kids that will even apply to the PG rating won't care or understand. The sexual talk is the only thing I might consider wrong about it, but I don't think thats enough.
Oh well, ratings have always been messed up. We'll never forget Titanic.

i didnt care at all, and if i had kids i wouldnt mind if they see this movie, but im just warning all the people who dont want their kids to see stuff like that at an early age that they shouldnt see this movie. i work in a movie theater and hate when people complain to me about stuff like that because there is no way i can fix it, so im trying to warn people before they see it.

$5. That is hilarious. I should try that sometime.
Bean is one strange actor. I remember when his title movie came out, there was only one really messed up thing about it. Something about his beans were "magic" beans. I laughed so hard at that because it was messed.

That must suck to hear parents complain about movie's content to you when you have no control over it. Have any parents complained to you about the hulk and how it wasn't suitiple(spelling) for kids.

well wasnt hulk PG-13
PG-13 are much harsher now a days. You can get away with R rated type stuff in a PG-13 movie
Parent should be wise to that
Hulk was dark..but they should or remember the show which was Dark and Adult. Also the commerical did look Dark...so they cant be to surprise
part of being a parent is doing some homework. Dont assume something nice just cuase it got a little cartoon in
that why parents make me mad when the surprise by south park.

Ah the magic beans. Well, there is a scene I can remember in which he is sitting next to a child, and he tosses a colorful bean into the air and catches it in his mouth. And the kid goes: "Oh, wow, how did you do that." And Bean replies: "Magic". So, I took it that he was saying his beans were magic. It made no sense, but I laughed at it's stupidity.

Um, did you see the movie? Granted, it was silly, but I'll be damned if it didn't make me smile. It made me laugh harder than Bad Boys 2 and talk of dead women's breasts, for one. And it was consistently silly too, so I had a consistent smile on my face. Don't look for a spoof, it's not a spoof. It's Bean as a secret agent. And it's pretty funny. You can read my review of this and Bad Boys 2 on www.rockithardcore.com.

They were M&M's, not beans. Thats probably why he was confused... and myself actually. I had no clue what you were talking about.

I saw the movie a good few months ago when it came out in England. I felt as though it was one of the worst movies I had ever seen. The ending was almost a direct rip off of Naked Gun 2 1/2 and it wasn't even close to being as funny as it. The humour was too predictable. Much too predictable.
I don't want to talk about it, the nightmares will come back.

I think I enjoyed the movie, but not as much as I'd like to in a comedy.
My problem was that I was comparing it too much with the Pink Panther films and Inspector Jacques Clouseau. In those movies, you had a guy that was a total idiot. Everything he did was a total mess-up and totally crazy. But in the end, he still ended up looking good. Somehow it freakishly winded up ok, and he'd supposedly solve the case, resulting in everyone thinking he looks good and is an expert detective. That kind of stupidity is appealing to me in a movie, when you're a fool, but you look good doing it.
In Johnny English, Johnny was a total idiot. Everything he did was a total mess-up and totally crazy. But instead of winding up looking good with his results, all he did was make himself look like a total arse. Everyone thought he was an imbecile except his counterpart which he managed to keep convincing that he was doing everything right.
That was my only problem. I don't like seeing people being bafoons and then just thinking to myself "Dear god WHY!?" when they're doing it. It ruins some comedy for me, and it just leaves a weird look on my face.
However I think I did enjoy it besides my unfortunate comparison I had in my head. There were parts that were funny, and I laughed.

i felt really bad for him at the one part after he gets out of the hospital and starts crying and saying "ohhh god!!!!" geez, kind of dramatic for a kids movie.

Yup, like Fannible said, those were M&Ms... And regarding the 'magic', he was saying he caught it by magic... Actually that's quite a common thing - the answer I mean...

Parents just think alll cartoons are for kids, but then there suprised by some adult cartoons and they want them to get rid of these cartoons or show them at midnight or later. Plus why can't parents figure out that comic book movies are not apropriate for there kids. How comes so many young kids are seeing the hulk. It's just going to scare them and more parents are going to complain. Could you imagine what the hulk would look like if hulk was made for young kids? Parents have to learn that some movies are not right for there kids to see right now.

Hulk bursts through the door, leers menacingly above a thug for a minute, before straightening up. Hulk's demeanor slowly changes, and he looks like a happy Shrek...
Hulk: Hello there friend! Could I please have the bag of money?
If you go back to the '80's, before PG13, there are movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark that is PG13 by today's standards, but was PG back then. There was nothing in the movie that was inappropriate for kids. The sexual references would go over their heads.
Anywho, I just went out and saw it, and I have to say I laughed more during this movie than any other comedy this year. Sure there were a lot of common gags and English never really solved anything, but Rowan Atkinson is dern funny. I thought John Malkovich was underused (though seeing him in the crown on those stamps and money was quite funny), but all in all, a jolly good time was had by all. 7/10

The movie was really funny! I liked it!
By the way, it was M&M's because there was a bowl full of it in front of Mr. Bean, so he caught one with his mouth.
