This site gives religion an ignorant look, has horribly ridiculus ideas, and is both amusing and sad in a way.

HARRY POTTER
IS TEACHING YOUR CHILDREN
SATANISM AND WITCHCRAFT
(Hey parent, what are you going to do when your child
puts a spell on you?) I was informed that REAL curses are in the books.
At this occult school, Harry Potter learns how to obtain and use witchcraft equipment. Harry also learns a new vocabulary, including words such as "Azkaban", "Circe", "Draco", "Erised", "Hermes", and "Slytherin"; all of which are names of real devils or demons. These are not characters of fiction!
A news report on 11-16-01 showed a clip of the movie. A cat TRANSFORMS into a woman. The movie/books may be "fantasy" to some, but witches and anyone with the knowledge can really TRANSFORM into animals and back. The power comes from the devil. (You don't think God would do this, do you?)

So what kind of demonds are Azkaban, Circe, Draco, Erised, Hermes, and Slytherin. And which of them are devils? This makes me thing JK actuly put thought into the names and didn't just make them up, cool.

Actually if those people at the site knew any better "erised" is just "desire" backword. I dont think Rowling used any demon reference to that, and the other names are interesting ties to folklore.
I am 100% sure that if we get to heaven or hell type afterlife, there wont be an angel there kicking Harry Potter fans into hell.

Heres an even stupider more ignorant Harry=Satan website http://www.cuttingedge.org/news/hpmain.html
Why do I find these? I find human ignorance amusing as well as annoying especially when they overeact at small things like this.
Did anybody really notice any of this:
" This book chronicles Harry's first year at the Hogwart's School of Wizardry and Witchcraft. Prepare to be shocked for the bold, blatant, and bodacious raw Satanism that underlines this story! Since "proper"Drug Use is essential in opening the centres of vision and achieving higher consciousness, we should not be surprised that First-Year students learn Drug Use, Drug creation, in a way that makes Drug use seem glorious! You will be shocked to see '666 ' in the story line, and symbols of Antichrist receiving a "fatal wound"!"

That site... I burst out laughing when I read it. For their infomation, Hermes is an ancient Greek god. The messanger god in fact. Not a devil or a demon. Draco is a constellation of a dragon. Draco was also the name of an Athenian politician. Circe is from Greek mythology... ever read the Odyssey? Contrary to popular belief, Wiccan is a religion that embraces nature. There are probably sterotypical witches too, but there are bad people in all religions and good people too. I know for a fact that Christianity teaches people to respect the beliefs of all religions. They do not say, "Oh, you're not Christian... off to Hell with you." It kinda pisses me off when people don't respect the beliefs of others. It's quite rude. Harry Potter is fiction meant to amuse and entertain. It is not used to promote the devil (they're trying to get rid of an evil wizard in the book, not exalt him). Anyway, when you go to a book store or a library, you find the book under "fiction," literature based on imaginative narration. You will not find it under Satanism or any of the sort. Jeez, the ignorance and stuborness of people these days frustrates me.

On one of the websites they said the 21 was a wiccan holiday and that JKR did that on purpose.I think she did do that on purpose but not b/c it was a wiccan holiday.I don't think she even knew about the wiccan holiday.I think it was released on the 21 cause i'm pretty sure it is the longest day of the year. When you think about it that was pretty smart.

Not that there's any point in supportting Harry Potter here (as there are no religious zealots here), but I just feel I had to say something. What if Rowling had called "magic" something else- a Force. And what if the witches and wizards were called something else- Jedis. Would they have anything to say then? I haven't heard anyone protest Star Wars for it's promotion of the occult. The only thing these people have against Harry Potter is the wording that Rowling uses. The powers in Harry Potter are not a matter of choice, so condeming this kind of witchcraft is no better than comdeming blacks, whites, asians, latinos, etc. These people need to calm down.
I also feel the need to remind everyone that not all Christians/Catholics are like this. I have gone to Catholic Churches almost every week for my whole life (almost 19 years), and clearly, I don't see anything wrong with these stories. All I'm asking is that you not assume that all Christians are zealots.

A thermodynamics professor had written a take home exam for his graduate students. It had one question: "Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Support your answer with a proof." Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools off when it expands and heats up when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:
First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So, we need to know the rate that souls are moving into Hell and the rate they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and since most people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all people and all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.
Second, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand as souls are added. This gives two possibilities:
If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.
Of course, if Hell is expanding at a rate faster than then increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure would drop until Hell freezes over. So which is it?
If we accept the postulate given me by Miss Theresa Banyan during my freshman year that, "It will be a cold night in Hell before I sleep with you," and take into account the fact that I still have not succeeded with her, then #2 cannot be true, so Hell is exothermic.
The student got the only A.
Except for this story being extremely funny, I have a point too... If all religious zealots in the world are right... everyone is going to hell... Man, won't they be surprised
And no..I do not asume all Christians are zealots... I respect all people's right to different beliefs..as long as they respect my right to believe what I will, and do not try to change me ;)

Those sites are really dumb and ignorend. But there are actually people who believe in these things and go burn books and stuff. I think it's just ridiculous that there are still people in this world who can be so blind because of their own believes, and they must all arrest the people who spred hate like this and put them in a mental hospital.

I am a 28yr old christian and a die hard Harry Potter fan. It really bothers me when I read these sites, because what it does is give most christian a bad name to none believers. I went to the source of one on the most listen to and read christian shows and that is "Focus on the Family" with Dr. Dobson, and even they said there that " Harry Potter is a work of fiction and that if you let your kids read it, read it with them and let them know it is fiction and not reality. My opion of it is if you don't want your kids to read it or watch it. Do let them get the book or don't watch the movie that is simple. What is so funny is alot of these people are the same one that say Pokemon is of the devil too and other Japanimation. Most of the people that write these sites have never even read or watched any of these things they protest, they only go by hear say. Well I have been a born again pentacostal christian now for 16yrs and I have no problem with these things and don't believe they effect my walk with the Lord. Like the saying says "to each man his own". I don't care if these people makes these site and bash Harry or whatever I am just tired of them giving Christians a bad name, cause they are to fragile in there walk to tell the difference between FACT AND FICTION.

I'm beginning to wonder if D&D players are in fact the only people out there who don't believe in magic at all. This is reminding me of the arguements that D&D teaches real magic. If Harry Potter and D&D teach magic, why can't I blow stuff up with my mind yet? I've read all the books twice at least, and I play D&D and other magic using RPG's weekly, so why can't I cast Magic Missile yet?
