There's something just kind of off about Leatherface's face. It looks too...engineered. Manufactured. But I'm holding out hope for this flick, I really am. And if all else fails, Jessica Biehl. She puts the "hot" in...well, "hot".

You guys need to change your attitudes, dang it. There've been successful remakes before. I can't think of one right now, but darn it I'm sure there has. And besides, the original Texas Chainsaw sucked. Pretty bad. All because of Tobe Hooper's horrible mishandling of, well, the entire film. I'm not saying this one will be any better, but I will at least reserve judgment until I've seen it.

The House on Haunted Hill from 1999 was actually a pretty good remake. As was 1998's Psycho. This however I don't know about. We'll have to wait and see.

The Haunting was the best Horror remake I know of.

sniktawt
07-12-2003, 10:55 PM
Haunting was Ok but House On Haunted Hill was better.Maybe because it was from Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis' Dark Castle Entertainment. They give more Eye candy (If you know what I mean) in their films than most.

ooh wow he has a ring on his finger, its gonna ruin the whole movie. jesus people lighten up. i think a remake of this movie would be good, i thought the first was really stupid and the only good part of the movie was the end when shes all freaking out and everything, the first part is boring with nothing going on until people start dying. the hook scene was great though...but they can remake it, and the only thing we can do is wait and see it, then we can make our final judgments on it.

The one thing I always draw issue with is with a remake if that is considered to be the main continuity considered definite version of events where do the sequels to the original fit in? if akin to PLanet of the Apes it looks nothing like the original then you cant tie in the sequels at all. Psycho was just a word for word translation to color where you could...

Alexander JL
07-14-2003, 07:17 AM
Planet of the Apes wasn't a remake per say. As Burton puts it, it was a 'reimagination' of Planet of the Apes based on Boulles novel (which it isn't really, since it resembled its predecessor more than the source novel).

The poster As Spidey_2k says is very Hannibal-ish.
In more true words...I think it sucks. This movie is getting to be worse by the second. They can't even get the promotion right.

EnderDeschain
07-15-2003, 02:38 PM
Well, at least they didn't do the whole Scream slash I Know What You Did Last Summer slash Urban Legends collage of teen-agers thing. And while it is rather Hannibalistic, at least it implies they're approaching the movie in a less Kevin Williamson way than other recent crap.

And yes, I am grasping at straws and using bullsh** rationalization, but for some reason I really want this movie to defy the odds and work. Don't ask me why.

Inspired by a true story... inspired being the operative word, had they used 'Based on' I doubt they'd get away with how much this movie deviates from the reality and the fact that no such event ever took place.

This is the true and even more heinous story of the man whom this movie is supposedly based around.

That was a gnarly fu**in' trailer! ROCK! I told you. Didn't I tell you? Don't write it off just yet, they might actually get it right. This supports my statement. In any case, no matter what happens, it can't be any worse than the original.

Sometimes trailers are great , then the movie turns out to be crap.So don't get ahead of ourselves here. This type of movie like Tenafly has said has been made so many times so I 'm not gonna be that excited to see it.I do think the trailer is great but I don't want to get my hopes up.Movies always let me down when I do that.

The trailer does look awesome. Kind of dumb to see them throw in our face that Jessica Beil is in the movie. She's in almost every scene in the trailer, but I still liked it. The way it was set up was great. And having never seen the original TCM, I can't really give an opinion on that. I'm soon to see it though.

angelusrp
07-21-2003, 07:37 AM
true that to what Snik said about the trailers some times being better than the actual movie. I mean look at Pearl Harbor? that trailer was awesome in my opinion.. then the movie came out.. and.. well you know. I havent seen the trailer yet to TCM but im hoping soon. I havent seen the original.. ive been meaning to rent it but my gf kind of grab it from my hand and took off running. She hid it from me some where in the store..she would have pissed her pants seeing it. So im gonna have to see it sometime later. Im sure it wont have the same feel to the remake. Ive seen trailers from the original and it seems to give it a more realistic feel to it. The whole all around look to it. Remakes are sometimes too hollywood, and as soon as i found out that, that one chick from Destinys child was in it. I lost interest. Hopefully it will come back. There are some remakes ive liked; House on haunted Hill ( crap, but i guess you have to see the original huh?) well, i liked that movie.. Psycho i liked. both original and remake. Planet of the apes wasnt really a remake but i liked both. what else? hmmm.. what other remakes are out there?

Two words: Micheal Bay. He may not be directing but they put his name on it like it is, and it definetly looks like he had his influence on the project. I really can't decide. I saw the first one recently, and it is REALLY hard to watch as far as lighting and camera work goes, maybe that was the idea, maybe my video copy was really crappy, but I found myself adjusting the brightness level constantly. So to see this one all clean and colorful, I'm a little more open to it. And considering the first one was terrible, I don't have that whole "they're ruining a classic!" thing going against it. And the trailer was alright, I liked the use of the opening credits about halfway through with the lightbulb, that was pretty slick. I'll wait to see how bad the reviews are...

The remake of Psycho was done using what could possibly be descibed as the worst concept ever put to practice by hollywood. A scene by scene remake of the original... what on earth made them think they'd make a proft out of doing that? Creating a movie that infuses no originality whatsoever into its telling... Hollywood was having a real spam day when it cooked that one up.

I saw the trailer and I think this movie might be cool, even though I haven't seen the original. Also, maybe we should all just keep our expectations high, swallow our pride as horror fans, and give this movie a chance. Who knows maybe it'll be a big hit (hey if it has Jessica Biel in it it sure is worth seeing in my book :D ).

Also, I heard a rumor that in this remake they're gonna make Leatherface "unkillable, unless he is killed by his own weapon (namely his chainsaw)" Is it true? I think it's an interesting idea, but it would seriously ruin the character at the same time.

spiderman_2k
09-07-2003, 02:15 PM

I saw the orignal and I hated it, when I heard they were remaking it I was doubtful of it to say the least, but after I read interviews and saw pictures of the cast with leatherface in my entertainment weekly I was hooked on this movie. When I saw the first trailer for this when I saw s.w.a.t. I thought that they did an amazing job on this movie, I just hope that it lives up to my expectations, all I want for this movie is for it to be better then the orignal and its sorry sequels.

That TV spot that Spidey posted awhile back pisses me off because they try to push this as a true story and it's not.
It's got Inspirations from AN actual person, yet they think some people will fall for that crap of it being real.

Michael Bay is far from Awesome.
But he's a Brand name and it's the reason why this film is being pushed right instead of the last ones which sat on the shelves for years before beng released straight to video basically.

scifi guy
09-28-2003, 01:06 PM
one thing that pisses me off is that some people arn't going to see this just because they think it has a WB cast.

Lord Blackbolt from SHH has given his review for the film....

Well after just seeing it today...... I have to say...I was going into this movie thinking I was going to hate it........

BUT I WAS WAY ****ING WRONG. THE MOVIE WAS THE HARSHEST AND BRUTAL SLASHER FILM I HAVE EVER ****ING SEEN.

For those that think this movie is a weak, and PC version of Leatherface.... I have to say I don't get scared watching slasher movies but this movie once it gets started is a non-stop horror fest for a hour and a half. I actually liked it better than the original

Now I know why they gave out the Advance tickets.... They want to spread a good word of mouth on the film... and I have to say EVERYONE in the theater was talking about how it was the scariest movie they had ever seen.....

I think the movie will surprise a lot of people of the Slasher genre.

My god the sheriff is probably the creepest and distrubing character in the movie... I fact I actually am more scared of the Sheriff in the movie more than Leatherface.

As for the gore... It's head-exploding, limps flying and brutal and distrubing. Once I saw Harry Knowles head on a platter.... I knew this movie was good.

Spoiler....................

The truely most distrubing scene in the whole movie is when LF pours salt on a guys severed leg. Then there's the scene where LF takes the chainsaw to a guys balls....

Plus Jessica Beil is a wet T-shirt throughout the whole movie.... what more can you ask. Damn she was hot in the movie....
