WEll something along these lines are considered to come out, Johnny Depp wants to play the captain again, who knows may come true.
I hope if POTC2 comes out they shorten the movie and the title. Maybe just narrow it down to a story about Sparrow and the crew of the Black Pearl.

I think Will and Elizabeth are no longer needed in a sequel, their story is complete...Jack on the other hand...our anti-hero can still have a lot to do...hmm, what year was the movie set? is it too late for him to maybe take on the Spanish Armada?

There is no plans for doing a sequel, right now anyway. The only mention of it has been an interview with Johnny Depp and they asked him "Will there be a sequel?" And he said he'd do it if there was, and that he enjoyed playing the character.
Thats about as far as that info is right now. Personally I think the movie is great as it is, a stand alone. I have no clue what a sequel would be about. True any story possibly could come up, all it has to do is involve the pirates and crew.
Anyways, great film. Enjoyed it immensly, and im seeing it again with friends on Monday.

not necessarily...the ending could leave Will open to follow Jack on his adventures and they could become partners or something. It's highly unlikely that he'd want to anyway...but it is in his blood. And I'm not sure Orlando would even want the role unless the story was AMAZING and they offered him a ton of money. So most likely it would be Pirates of the Caribbean: The Adventures of Captain Jack Sparrow with hopefully a cameo appearance of Orlando and Keira. So judging by the ending it is possible, but not entirely probable for a sequel to include Will and Elizabeth.

I would hope that Will and Elizabeth would come back for a sequel if there is one. But I would especially like Will back because I would like to see some more development on the partnership between Will and Jack. I actually kinda wish they did a little more of that together in this first movie but it's still a good movie. :-) Maybe for the sequel, to help get Will involved, they could reveal a little more about his past. Some of the posts I've seen on this board often mentioned what kind of relationship there was between Jack and Will's father...maybe they can elaborate on that more in a sequel?
But I'd only want all this if they make a GREAT sequel. This first movie is so great on its own. I'd be disappointed if they made a really bad sequel to it. But I doubt Johnny or Orlando would sign on to do a bad movie anyway.

I think there will be a new sequal because almost at the end of the movie one BRITISH CAPTAIN says let JACK SPARROW have 1 day before we go and get him, so next movie will be they trying to get him , and lots of fights, capturing him, he escapes again, fighting, capturing him,he escapes again, etc.

Another tell-tale sign for a sequel is that they added a sub-title to the movie later in the advertising campaign(i.e. The Curse of the Black Pearl.) This usually tells us that this will be an installment in a series of POTC movies.

One thing that might work as maybe an idea for a possible sequel would be - if they bring Will Turner back and somehow revive Captain Barbosa - maybe the climax scene of the sequel could involve a final showdown between Will and Barbosa, and it could be almost like Will's father seeking revenge on Barbosa through Will...of course that's just an idea and it probably sounds ridiculous. Either way, if they do a sequel I hope they bring the whole cast back. Everyone in this movie was so great so I think they deserve to come back. And again, some emphasis on Will and Jack working more as a team together on their adventure would be nice...
EDIT: You know what I just remembered? There was an interview they did with Keira Knightley, who did an oustanding job on Elizabeth...she said how she hopes that maybe the next time around she can fight with a sword. :) I wouldn't mind seeing that. She already kicked butt using the other weapons she had in the movie...lol.

I'm not sure if they would do that. Otherwise if they did we could all get together and take over production of the movie and do it our way. lol. :) But if they did that then I doubt Johnny or Orlando or any other cast members would sign on to do it in the first place...

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Sands of Time
While looting a seaside town, Sparrow and his band of pirates stumble upon a mystic treasure that has the power to alter time. But when a treacherous shipmate steals it, Jack must enlist the help of Will Turner and his new bride Elizabeth, to help get it bak before the madman alters history for the worst.

if they do a sequel, will and elizsbeth are no longer needed. they should just focus on sparrow and barbossa, those were the film's only interesting characters. will turner is the hero thats in every movie, and elizabeth is the damsel in distress thats in every movie, stick with sparrow and barbossa.

True. Although some people are also seeing it for Orlando Bloom, myself not being one of those people. They should leave out Will and Elizabeth in a sequel, unless they kill off the girl and Will joins Jack on the Black Pearl. But I doubt that would ever happen.

I'll admit I was really excited in seeing Orlando Bloom in this movie because from the previews I saw, it looked like he was finally going to get his first big role in a movie. So I was excited to see how he'd do. I also had high expectations for the movie itself because it looked like it would be awesome. And it was. :D I think everyone in the movie did a remarkable job in the roles they played. Even with Bloom, he didn't do too bad at all. I look forward to seeing him playing more challenging, unique roles though...
Anyway, I think it'd be interesting though to see if they could develop Will Turner as a character more in a sequel. Plus they could probably elaborate more on his father and what he was all about. I'd like to know for sure how Jack Sparrow relates to his father. Were they close friends? And you know if they don't bring Jack Sparrow back it just will never be the same. Johnny was just too awesome playing the role. :D It looks like a lot of fun too. Who else wouldn't want to play a pirate? lol. :)

Actually, there ARE real plans for a sequel!
In anticipation of the film's success, Disney had made sequel arrangements with such key cast members as Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, as well as with the behind-the-scenes duo of producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski.

it showed Barbossa in the cave, the one with all of the gold that the pirates stole, and he's passed out or dead or something, on the ground........then we cut to Barbossa's monkey coming into the cave and walks onto the chest with all the Aztek Gold and get's one of them, in his hand..........then suddenly the camera puches in to the monkeys mouth as it shieks a very loud and creepy scream THE END

I was talking to my sister about the sequel and the possible plot for it.
We think that they could do something like having Will and Elizabeth's kid got kidnapped by the monkey and then they have to ask Jack for help.
Sound pathetic but that is what we can think off from the ending of the first movie.
Guamgirl101
07-19-2003, 09:42 PM
Personally I wouldn't want Will and Elizabeth to have a child yet in the sequel, just because it reminds me too much of a lot of Disney's animated direct-to-video sequels in which the main characters have a kid and the story revolves around that. That's just me though. I also hope that the sequel isn't something similar to someone getting kidnapped and them needing to be rescued by Will and Jack. It just seems a little too similar to the first one in my opinion. Also, in the first movie Will had to come to terms with the fact that he has the pirate blood in him. I mean, he didn't seem to fully embrace that fact until the end of the movie. In the sequel I want to see what he's like as a full-fledged pirate this time. Also, what will happen to Jack and the Black Pearl? I hope they can bring the same actors that made up Jack's crew. :) And what other locations will they do in the sequel? Do you think they'll still try to put in some scenes in the sequel that are similar to the ride?
KayTang999
07-19-2003, 09:50 PM
True, and you totally scare me when you said that about Disney's sequel. LOL
May be he could explore that part about him being pirate, I mean Will but I don't know where would Elizabeth fall in. The writer will work it out, eventually.

A privateer is a type of pirate, working for a monarchy, permission to loot the ships of enemies to the king and queen. They were the original pirates.
Then your buccaneers came along, they are the ones that gave people the general image of a pirate. They looted everyone, which is technically what Sparrow was.

I think that there's gonna be a a second POTC, cuz the way they ended, Captin Jack Sparrow lesft offf for sea, the n eventually they're gonna go and search for him again. POTC and the search....

POTC can't be the best of the year when ROTK is not out yet so I don't think any movies will be the best of the year except ROTK, IMO.
I just saw POTC and I really loved it...it would be sooo great if there was a sequel :D...I especially loved Johnny as Captain Jack Sparrow so I hope that if there'll be a sequel it'll eb about him...(though I wouldn't say no to a bit more Orlando...lol :D)

Every good movie needs a sequel. Almost all good movies should finish the story so that there is no need.

In my opinion, POTC should have become like a love-triangle. Like a long scene on the island, and Liz and Jack have a passionate time. This would have been the romance aspect, and then it's back to action.

I heard that Pirates 2 should be out in 2005 and in a colorado newspaper that they'll possibly be filming it in New Orleans.
I can't wait for a second one! On some site it said that Tedd Elliott and Terry Rossio (the writers) have written or have already started two more story's on Jack! Yay!
And it's new to me to hear that there may be a third....can I please have the site address from whomever found this info, I'd really like to look at it.
Anyways,
I think Johnny( of course), Orlando, and Keira should all still be in it.
Earlier I had some ideas for a new story, but I am soooo tired, yet excited that my brain just won't recall what I had in mind, so maybe once it back to normal functioning I'll come back and post it. :-) :D

I very much doubt Johnny Depp has signed for all 2 more without
even seeing any scripts. Ok some actors would sign just for the
money, but seeing interviews with him, I don't think he would
sign for money, more for artistic expression than anything.
He has stated that he wants to play Ozzy Osbourne, but only if he sees a script!

I don't think Johnny's really a sequel kinda guy.

Johnny's not a sequel guy but i read in an interview at upcomingmovies.com, he said that he hopes that there is a sequel because he loved playing Jack Sparrow... (kinda old though)

Disney To Make 'Pirates Of The Caribbean' Sequel
[Wed July 16, 2003 09:30PM]
Walt Disney Co. are to start production on Pirates of the Caribbean sequel, this due to the movies success at the box office this week, according to Reuters.
Talks are taking place with the writers about developing storylines for the sequel, "I've got two more stories to tell about (pirate captain) Jack Sparrow," writer Ted Elliot said.
In interviews, Johnny Depp expressed a willingness to take part in a sequel and said making the movie was more than just fun.
"It was criminal. It was a blast," he said.
