Guess that depends on where the battle is taking place. In the real world Neo would lose, in the Matrix Neo would kick his arse.

The fight is kinda silly. Neo has super powers in a fake world.... John Preston has real skills that he had to aquire through training and whatnot in a real world.

Well since the world John lives in would basically be considered the Matrix, I think it's safe to say Neo would punish Mr. Grammaton Cleric. John could definitely whoop Neo's a$$ in the real world though. So yeah I agree with Fanible, it all depends on where the bout is taking place at.

Screw logic. I vote the Cleric solely based on the fact that I liked his movie more. And lookee there, I split the vote (as of now 7 and 7). I would have figured Matrix folks would have this by a landslide. Guess folks have better taste than I expect sometimes.

:lol:, Seriously? I'm sure by Neo vs. Preston you mean Neo from within the Matrix vs. Preston's real world skills. In that case Neo can see everything in code so it doesn't matter if it's dark or not, pluss in Revelations he could see blind so:nono:. Pluss, the reason this vote went to Cleric is because most Matrix fans havn't seen Equilibrium so the people voting if they've seen it would like it better of course. Sorry I'm so late on this discussion, just saw it on google and had to comment.

Here's my input... Preston can dodge bullets in the real world and Neo has to edit code to stop them. Neo's always trying to do kung fu while Preston would just breaks peoples bones, blows them away, or cut them to pieces. Neo's ego would get in the way and he would underestimate Preston like Mr. Dibbs. Preston killed like 80 something people in Equilibrium and Neo didn't kill that many in all 3 Matrix movies combined. Preston takes the kill as soon as he sees it, which is much faster than Neo because Neo tries to subdue his average opponent if it's not Smith because he's use to fighting agents who are controlling an innocent person's body and probably has to get through the moral questioning before he can kill.

It also depends on the weapons they have available. Though in almost every case Preston has more skill I'm sure because he's actually had the training to instill the confedence and personality to his moves while Neo just had them installed into his brain. Emotionally Neo is sort of on a child's level while Preston has had a Hellish life and is a million times stronger in that regard. Preston took out as many people in the Grammaton Hallway as Neo and Trin took out all together in the whole Lobby scene, and he did it going in with only 2 guns and grabbed only one more to finish the job. Pluss the people John took out had Grammaton Cleric training and the lobby guards were just cops. Watching Equilibrium would give the viewer the courage to go after and take what they want out of life no matter what they go through while viewers of the Matrix trilogy would only get their heads stuck further up in the clouds.

If you asked me, I'd say John's got it hands down. Then again I'm probably bias, check out my equilibrium fan vids on youtube...

That depends - does this fight take place in the Matrix? If so, Neo would kick his ass. He can stop bullets (rendering half of Preston's skills worthless), and his reflexes are fast enough to best him in a hand-to-hand/sword/other weapon fight.

Outside of the Matrix, barring Neo doesn't whip out some other power to help him (as he did against the machines at the end of The Matrix Reloaded), Preston would wipe the floor with him.
