evilsquishy, why do you hate every thread, i mean, you yawned at my thread.

I don't.
I'm just saying we had like 4 of these same kind of threads already. When we have many of the same thing or ones that are mindnumbingly stupid, then I get annoyed.
By the way, I think I've said that maybe two or three times, which hardly qualifies as every thread.
Evilsquishy is right. The search engine in the left corner is aweful handy to use before you post a new topic. Type Elvish names and your sure to find a few threads.
Oh yeah, My elvish name is Elrohir Helyanwë

a question for aynone out there who is using Windows 98 and IE 5. whenever i go to a new thread, the thread comes up, but then i am very quickly directed onto the site:
http://adserver.gorillanation.com/?DC=ComingSoon.net+Traffic&DH=Y&TARGET=_top
it is really annoying, as i get about 1 second to click stop before it redirects. anyone know a way around this?

interesting how the elvish names for the same person are different
Fanible
08-09-2003, 05:31 AM
Not really. Each generator is completly randomised, and doesn't really have any direct connection to the books, name relation, or languages I think. I believe one of them even states that.
Different designs as well. For example, the 1st Site is probably the worst, and will only notice certain parts of your name, ends and beginnings, or sometimes even one part depending which generator you use, and it auto memorises them anyhow as to not randomly give you a different name each time you put it in. If you change your last name somewhat, but keep the specific letters on the front and bakc you get the same name still, cause it's recognising what is on the ends. Spelling, and everything is just random.
For example, if you put in Jackson, you'll get a certain name. Now try rearranging it except for the main front and back. Jickson, Jarkson, Jaaarbleson, Jontersun, Jimmysoon. Any of those will give you the same "last name". It's just recognising parts of your name.
You could put Jimmy and get one meaning, and then put in Jippy or Jirsily and get the same.
When you go to a different generator, the designer pretty much did the same thing, except didn't put in the same results. Pretty much made up all of it.
Honestly, the 2nd Site, http://www.barrowdowns.com/middleearthname.asp is probably the most creative, concentrating on different letter positions and name specifics, creating just about everything extremely random. While the 3rd site uses a similiar technique, taking all the names from each side, but has more often reusage.

I have some interesing names when using my birth name:
Hobbit- Merebo 'the Young' Primstone , Prince of the Halflings
Elven- Myna, King of Gondolin
Wizard- Curunír, Lord of Gifts
And while messing around with it, decided to translate family members. MyPrecious definitly gives people more respectful and fun names sometimes. Too bad it's not extremely unique randomised, otherwise the names would be pretty cool to uniquely have.
One of my sisters:
Human- Galelan, Messenger of Mordor
Wizard- Olórin the Ring-maker
Another sister:
Elven- Eowaradien, High Queen of the Elves
Wizard- Incánus, Lady of Forests
Yet another of my sisters:
Human- Foawen, Queen of Rhovanion
Wizard- Valaraukar, Powers of the World
Father:
Hobbit- Drerry Digswell, Ring-bearer
Elven- Raevyan, Lord of Rivendell
Human- Lyran, Lord of Rohan
Wizard- Uinen the Necromancer
Mother:
Human- Eraveth, Queen of the Dead
Wizard- Annatar, Queen of Doriath
