Have you seen the new Multicase Amaray DVDs - the layout inside the case is amazing. I think Smallville will follow that - and also, Warner UK don't use paper anymore - it'll be amaray, won't it?

how can you compare two covers when they both have the same picture. Of course there are small details here and there, but it's the same picture, maybe your to blind too see that it's the SAME PICTURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus, the US cover is better in so many ways. You just like the UK cover because you're from the UK.

spiderman_2k
09-18-2003, 12:26 PM

Its the little things that make it better dumbass...
I dont like the way Smallville is placed on the R1 box..Plus the Superman Logo, gives the cover much more atmosphere then just the corn field..Plus i never said it wasnt the same picture..did I??...U should think before u lunge into things man, u only make urself seem stupid...
Also about me being from the UK...sure i like it more, but not because of the reason u gave..I could easily turn it around and say u like the R1 cover better because u are from the USA....So once again, i suggest u think before u type next time...Fool

Baadshah
09-18-2003, 12:43 PM
wow, don't cry! The color of the R2 cover has less red but alot more blue, which is not that good. The superman logo looks ridiculous in the background, since it's faded out and it's cropped on the right side. Plus, there are 21 episodes in the season, why does the package look so thin, there is nowhere on the cover that suggests that the dvd is a set for the full season one. And finally, it's too similar to the previous Pilot Episode release dvd.
http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B0000ABPLF.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

now look at the cover of the R1 release. Has more red, the title is bigger, and it has the words "The Complete First Season". something new and different and pleasant to look at.
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/graphics/news/Smallville_S1_3DView.jpg

When I said the COVER SUCKS, I didn't mean the package, i mean't the picture of Tom Welling shirtless. So quit cry'n

and,.....wwhat..........why did you change you're avatar

I hate the snapper version of the UK's, for that reason alone the US version looks better! :p

spiderman_2k
09-18-2003, 12:51 PM
I changed it because im looking forward to Smallville...I think its pretty obvious judging that the set is 6 discs, that it is the full series, and if its not on the cover it will certainly be on the back.
Where did i cry?? Does it make u feel bigger then someone else to insinuate that they cry? Because if u do, its pretty pathetic..IMO
About the logo..If u may notice the side of the right hand side of the case is blacked out..If it was there the logo would be in proportion.

It wont be snapper, WB stopped production of them...They couldnt make a snapper mechanism for a 6 disc DVD set anyway...I recently bought Cradle 2 The Grave, and its by WB...and its not a snapper case.

The pic you posted has the classic snapper on the right side of it. I would like to incorparate things from the UK version to the US, like the slogan at the bottom. :)

BTW does the UK get this at the same time as the US?

jediknight
09-18-2003, 01:41 PM
Isn't Malibu's Most Wanted a snapper?

spiderman_2k
09-18-2003, 01:43 PM
No clue, but it has been officially announced that no more snappers are to be made...The WB snapper DVDs are going cheap in some stores because they are going out of print.
Like i said i bought Cradle 2 The Grave on Monday..Its WB and its in a normal DVD case. Also how canu have a snapper for 6 discs..it would be as flimsy as hell.

jediknight
09-18-2003, 01:46 PM
No doubt, but the picture doesn't lie ;)

I'm glad they are finally getting rid of the snappers, infact, i want replacement amaray cases for all the snapper cases i had to buy between them and new line :p

spiderman_2k
09-18-2003, 01:49 PM
They probably designed that case when snappers were still in production..It will probably be the same design just on a decent case.

We got it in at my work today. We were looking at it and it is not a snapper case. It is like the Season Sets of 24. The discs are in each of there own fold-out sheet of the box. It looks pretty cool. It is a thick case.

I like the Superman logo behind the R2 cover picture, and I think that does make it an improvement over the R1 cover. Fairly subtle, and it adds that Superman connection to it all in cool way.

The small things matter:

People in Ozzy land probably prefer the US and UK SW2 DVD covers, just cos' the Ozzy versions has an effing "M for Mature" sticker on it.

It's small things that count.

spiderman_2k
09-19-2003, 01:02 PM
Exactly..and the inclusion of the Superman logo, and that great tagline down the bottom make the R2 cover better..IMO

jpdill
09-19-2003, 02:41 PM
Plus, in the UK, it's not actually called "Smallville"

It's "Smallville: The Superman Years" or summin like that...

jediknight
09-19-2003, 02:41 PM
I do like the colors of the R1 version and the smallville logo on the side better though. They should just design 3 covers and let the fans vote on which one they like better. They did that for matrix, but look where that got us :p

It annoys me that Channel 4 decided to add the 'early years' part to the title, I suppose it was to attract more viewers in case they weren't familiar with Smallville been the home grown town of Clark Kent. I believe it's released over here on October 13th, dam, still a few more weeks, probably set us back about £50.

Shame it's not just Lana Lang on the cover, would have been great if they had gone with a shot of her from the episode after she becomes a free spirit and strips down to her skimpies.

spiderman_2k
09-19-2003, 02:54 PM
Its still called Smallville...just that E4 adds that onto the end...

jpdill

I think Smallville sucks as a name. I know it's set there and stuff, but it's shoddy.

I'da called it "Clarke Kent" or summin.

Okay. Now that i think about it, Smallville's ok as a name...

Hey - has Clarke gone to Metropolis yet? If so, what ep?

JediPaul
09-19-2003, 03:18 PM
Clark has visited Metropolis in a few epiosdes. He's still based in Smallville, I guess it should be his last year in school come season 3 therefore, I guess where close to him moving on to Metropolis, I hope they continue the show through to his true calling of Superman.

Here's a news flash, Coolio...Smallville's one of the best shows on television and to say it sucks means you haven't given it a chance. So until you give an explanation as to why it sucks, your opinion means absolutely nothing. Enjoy.

I had never seen Smallville until tonight (we don't get it in my area...the cable sucks here)...so I bought the DVD set based on the fact that it has had mostly good reviews....watched the first 2 episodes....excellent....not only are the special effects as good as most movies, but the plots, acting, and cinematography were first rate.

Welling is very good as Clark, Kreuk is friggin georgeous, Rosenbaum is especially good, and O'Toole and Schneider are real good as the Kents.

Man I'm glad they're putting so much stuff on DVD.

I remember seeing it for the first time, it was broadcast over here in the UK on New Years Eve 2001, I switched the channel over and saw this teenage get wacked by car of a bridge, I had no idea what was going on, even after several times certain characters had mentioned the names Clark and Kent, it still didn't click 'til near the end of the double opening episode. I got hooked straight away and enjoyed the show ever since.

spiderman_2k
09-25-2003, 04:16 PM
I remeber seeing the adverts for it in advance...
A meteor heading towards earth...Very Teasing....
I saw a preview for it when i was in America a few months before and thought it looked cool...

I sat down and really enjoyed the double episode...Been getting better ever since.

Season 1's cliifhanger was great, I didn't think it would be better than that but, season 2 was amzing and the way it ended was exciting and frustrating due to the fact that we have to wait half a year, well, should be a few more months 'til season 3, when will season 2 becoming on DVD boxset?

spiderman_2k

I would guess for the end of series 3...That might be a good time to release it..If not then, maybe when series 4 begins to air.

- commentary and deleted scenes for the first 2 episodes.
- A tour around Smallville, where you pick a place for go in smallville (ex. Lana's house, Kent Farm) and give you a 2 minute explanation about it.
- Pilot Storyboard to screen, kinda boring
- TV spots, just shows the one tv spot for Tarzan and some other new WB show starring that girl from She's All That movie
- Smallville Sizzles - one tv spot of Smallville :(

spiderman_2k
09-28-2003, 09:40 AM
