yeah, earlier was interesting. sorry you had to see that kind of stuff. it's usually very friendly and peaceful in here.

occasionally, we do come across people that just don't want to be social. they don't try to strike up normal conversations or friendships. they go out of their way to cause problems, criticize things, and in general, be a big PITA. most of that stuff, we've learned to ignore. the difference with this last problem poster, is that he was infringing on a long time (and much respected) user here, by using the same icon and signature line. it wasn't an accident or coincidence. it was deliberate, he/she knew that most people look at the icons, and not always at the name. he was even giving misleading information, impersonating the original user, which is what concerned us the most. even given his history, had he just changed his icon and sig, and *tried* to act like a decent normal human being, he would have been welcomed here. i feel sad for him. it's his loss. there are some incredibly nice people in this forum, people worth talking to, worth being friends with. he/she will miss out on all of that... and that's a shame.

any ways.... welcome to the madness that is the Green Dragon, may your stay be long and enjoyable~

ian was *brilliant* playing bilbo. i'm just so impressed with the casting. and you're right, *thank god* they recast Stuart Townsend, and gave the part to viggo.

i can't imagine anyone but him carrying that sword!

I have trouble visualizing anyone else in any of the roles...I wonder if Ian will be Bilbo if they make the Hobbit?...I have a dream that PJ will some how get the rights to the Silmarillion and tie up Cate Blanchette to do the back story on Galadriel...she is not always the "good girl" with the rebellion and all ...I think her story would make a brilliant film...

EVERYONE MUST UNDERSTAND, this ban was not about power nor was it about someone trying to bring down a king or queen. It was about stopping someone who wanted to destroy the most powerful thing that this board has and that is FRIENDSHIP. This person tried to divide us. THAT CAN NOT HAPPEN, IT MUST NEVER HAPPEN.

did any one else read about the 5 planets aligning? i went out tonight, after dusk, and couldn't see them.. we tried again when it was dark, and I think we found them... there were 4 really bright stars all in a row. a straight line. :) they'll be visible for the next week or so, and then again in (august i think) but then it will be in the early hours of morning... then they're gone for 30 yrs.

oh, here's the article i found~

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (AP) -- Five planets are arrayed across the evening sky in a spectacular night show that won't be back for another three decades.

For the next two weeks, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn -- the five closest planets -- should be easily visible at dusk, along with the moon.

"It's semi-unique," said Myles Standish, an astronomer at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. "They're all on the same side of the sun and stretched across the sky and that's what is kind of pretty."

Standish missed Monday evening's opportunity, but said Tuesday that he will gaze up when he walks his dog this week and next. He expects mountains and bright city lights to hamper his view, however.

The planetary lineup will be visible to the naked eye every night for an hour after sunset from around the world through early April. At the end of the year, the same five planets will reunite for a few weeks, but in the pre-dawn hours.

Standish said this particular planetary grouping may offer the best nighttime views until 2036.

The orbits of the five planets take them to the same side of the sun every few years or so. The conditions have to be just right for all five planets to be clearly visible at dusk or dawn; Mercury is often tough to catch. Even rarer are so-called alignments, where the planets are clustered together in the sky; this is not one of those.

Stargazers should look to the western horizon just after sunset. Mercury, Venus, Mars and Saturn will be lined up in the sky with Jupiter close to the eastern horizon. They will span about 135 degrees. Saturn will be almost directly overhead.

i guess it depends on what kind of view of the sky you have... if there's a lot of buildings or bright lights interfering with your view, it's gonna be harder...

here's the advice from the article:

Stargazers should look to the western horizon just after sunset. Mercury, Venus, Mars and Saturn will be lined up in the sky with Jupiter close to the eastern horizon. They will span about 135 degrees. Saturn will be almost directly overhead.

when we went on our front yard, i was looking westward, and just a bit off from the moon were 4 really bright stars. i just hoped they were the planets. i might try using the binocs any way, to get a good look. :)

and in good company too...

they don't strike me as the kind of people to leave a guy behind if he was having a hard go of it...

they might tease him, unmercifully, and rag on him when ever they got a chance, but leave him to fend for himself, nope. i don't see that.

(and what a better time in your life to do slightly silly things, that you might not regularly do??) ;)

I swear my allegiance to my King and his Queen and their house. I swear on all I hold dear to me, that I will act with honor and respect at all times, and that I will protect those that are weaker than myself. I will endeavor to do my best to see that the young are brought in with a gentle hand. And I will not bring dishonor to this house, or cause you to lose faith in me.
