No one else can really tell you if you made the right/wrong decision LoK. If you feel that you can't afford that much in loans, then it probably was the right decision. But, if you're serious about studying visual effects, you're going to need an education somewhere. Would taking a year off for a job to make some money and figure out what you want to do be reasonable for you? Unfortunately, it's a hard decision that no one else can really give you a definite answer on :(

Yeah, but thansk for your words of wisdom anyways Fluke. Most likely ill take a year off to make money (just agot a new job)

I doubt ill go to that school, its just too much, and i don't want to be that far in debt after i graduate. Ill look into studying indivudal visual effects courses somewhere else....PRAY FOR ME...LOL;)

BTW fluke, i remember telling you my early college plans. As you didn't know i graduate on Monday, and was supposed to study Visual Effects in College and the ART INSTITUTE F FT.LAUDERDALE but its not going to happen. It would have cost me 45 thousand in loans to study there, so i backed out. Did i make the right/wrong decision in your view? now i currently have no college plans.

An oldster's two cents worth...

Avoid mountains of debt as much as you can...fluke's advice about taking a year is sound...:)

It would be nice if that ever happened :) For now, I must settle on seeing an ocean sunrise maybe 1 week out of the year.

The cold water is "not bad once you get used to it" (a phrase heard on every Cape beach from blue-skinned, teeth-chattering swimmers - we all know it's a lie but we get in anyway). We New Englanders are a hardy stock :) The feeling comes back in your legs in 5 minutes or so.....

Alas, I have been informed about the pending closure of our wonderful forum. I was very sad and forlorn at the thought of this place fading into the mists, living only in our memories. I understand the reasons behind the move, and I'm grateful for the threads that will be preserved.

Will it be the same? No. Probably not. We'll have to adept to the new environment, and learn to compromise with other posters. I, too, fear that we will come under attack from those who will always challenge something like the trilogy, no matter how amazing it is. We will have to learn to ignore their ignorance, and to not stoop to the level of catcalls and insults. It is my fondest hope, that no matter where this thread is held, that we will maintain the friendships we've built here.

PS/ i don't throw my muffins at just *anybody*, ya know! ;)

This song really makes me think of where we're all going:

I sit beside the fire and think
of all that I have seen,
of meadow-flowers and butterflies
in summers that have been;

Of yellow leaves and gossamer
in autumns that there were,
with morning mist and silver sun
and wind upon my hair.

I sit beside the fire and think
of how the world will be
when winter comes without a spring
that I shall ever see.

For still there are so many things
that I have never seen:
in every wood in every spring
there is a different green.

I sit beside the fire and think
of people long ago,
and people who will see a world
that I shall never know.

But all the while I sit and think
of times there were before,
I listen for returning feet
and voices at the door.

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with weary feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

The Road goes ever on and on
Out from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
Let others follow it who can!
Let them a journey new begin,
But I at last with weary feet
Will turn towards the lighted inn,
My evening-rest and sleep to meet.

Not yet. I have 3 left.

I've got a Health test tommorow, and it's like only %1 of my final grade. I've got a B+ in there anyways. I can just write my damn name and still pass! :D

I have a Biology quiz on Monday. It's going to be hella easy. The teacher in that class rules. Gives us ALL the answers the day before the quiz, but in this case Friday, and we write them down on note form. The entire quiz before our eyes.

Spanish Quiz on monday. Going to suck. 200 questions and I know maybe %15 of the material. I'm screwed.

Lay down
Your sweet and weary head
The night is falling
You have come to journey's end
Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across the distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
All Souls pass

Hope fades
Into the world of night
Through shadows falling
Out of memory and time
Don't say
We have come now to the end
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again
And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
Gray ships pass
Into the West

Through Rohan over fen and field where the long grass grows
The West Wind comes walking, and about the walls it goes.
'What news from the West, O wandering wind, do you bring to me tonight?
Have you seen Boromir the Tall by moon or by starlight?'
'I saw him ride over seven streams, over waters wide and grey;
I saw him walk in empty lands, until he passed away
Into the shadows of the North. I saw him then no more.
The North Wind may have heard the horn of the son of Denethor.'
'O Boromir! From the high walls westward I looked afar,
But you came not from the empty lands where no men are.'

From the mouths of the Sea the South Wind flies, from the sandhills and the stones;
The wailing of the gulls it bears, and at the gate it moans.
'What news from the South, O sighing wind, do you bring to me at eve?
Where now is Boromir the Fair? He tarries and I grieve.'
'Ask not of me where he doth dwell - so many bones there lie
On the white shores and the dark shores under the stormy sky;
So many have passed down Anduin to find the flowing Sea.
Ask of the North Wind news of them the North Wind sends to me!'
'O Boromir! Beyond the gate the seaward road runs south,
But you came not with the wailing gulls from the grey sea's mouth.'

From the Gate of Kings the North Wind rides, and past the roaring falls;
And clear and cold about the tower its loud horn calls.
'What news from the North, O mighty wind, do you bring to me today?
What news of Boromir the Bold? For he is long away.'
'Beneath Amon Hen I heard his cry. There many foes he fought.
His cloven shield, his broken sword, they to the water brought.
His head so proud, his face so fair, his limbs they laid to rest;
And Rauros, golden Rauros-falls, bore him upon its breast.'
'O Boromir! The Tower of Guard shall ever northward gaze
To Rauros, golden Rauros-falls, until the end of days.'

I'm screwed.

glad the first two will be a piece of cake. sorry the third one is gonna blow. :(

maybe you can get some last minute cramming in, get some of those verbs and stuff memorized.

i was coming through that area (close enough) that monday, coming home from san bernardino faire. she wanted to give me a heads up.

i was *seriously* tempted...

but...

1) it didn't start until after midnight, and God only knows how long the lines would have been, and I still had a 3 plus drive from there.

and

2) it would have just been too depressing to stand around all those under 25's going ape... i would have felt older then dirt, and completely out of place. it's better that I act like Jimmy Carter, and only "lust in my heart"...

i haven't done that yet. i don't know if i can find the words to say what i feel.

it's strange that a place can become so important. it's not a place we can touch, see, hear or smell, but we can definitely feel it.

we feel it in the friendships we've made, the good and bad times we've shared. how do we say good bye to that? even if a few threads stay open, i'm afraid we might lose that original sense of camaraderie.

yeah, just a boogie board. it's pretty tall though. Rachel is 57" tall, and the thing is like 45" or so...

oh. she and Brett have had a falling out. There's a girl, Misty. (who sounds just like you'd think a girl named "Misty" would look like) has been walking around the playground, holding his hand...

misty is a trouble maker. i'd like to grab her by the ends of her blond roots. (and not because of the boy, that probably helped things)

she has her grandmother teaching at the school. she (misty) is always threatening the other girls with "pink slips" if they don't go along with what she wants. she says she'll complain to her grandmother, and she'll do what she asks. I try to explain to rachel that it doesn't work that way, but the girls are afraid, and don't want to buck the system. Rachel has had this girl in class with her since Kindergarten. I knew back then she'd be one of those "Queen Bees" the kind of girl that makes the other girls miserable.

the movie "mean girls" could have starred her.

grrr...

yeah, they're both blondes. and have a mean streak a mile wide. this little chick is just a terror. she's been wanting rachel to be her friend for a while now, so she's been trying to single her out from the herd. she's tried to get some of rachel's other friends turn against her, so she'd have to her all to herself.

when three girls get together to play, one will *always* be left out. usually with some hurtful, crappy things said. your niece could probably tell you a few "mean girl" stories. it's a terrible time, and there's not a lot we can do to make it easier. i just let rachel talk about it, and tried to tell her i remember it happening too, and that i knew how much it hurt, and that i was sorry someone would try to hurt her on purpose like that.

For still there are so many things

in every wood in every spring

But all the while I sit and think
