Finally, yes, I first heard it about a year ago they will atleast make the first one "Rendezvous with Rama", but it's set for 2006 :(

Heh, you sholdn't have gotten me started but I believe these coudl be INCREDIBLE movies. Maybe not the last two books, that would start to get weird, but the first two would be excellent and I can't wait.

I am currently Proofreading a 720 page fantasy novel written by a personal friend.

He will write all three books, before sending them to the publisher. He has published books already so it wont be as hard.

Pretty good fantasy novel so far...on page 270 (I read with my pen in hard to correct things and help him try to make things more understandable to normal readers)

Yeah basically.
It will become a three book trilogy. He just finished the first book and is starting on the second one.

Its an epic, and ironically, looking at it now, parallels very much to The Lord of the Rings Series in some aspects, although its a very different read.

Finished "By the Light of the Moon" by Koontz, and although the writing is pretty bad at times, and he's no classic, the concept I find more intriguing than Unbreakable, and I'd really like to see this as a movie.

Finished Vonnegut..... intriguing questions about the afterlife. Found the Hitler bit amusing.

Halfway through Mort, and it's goddamn hilarious. The Grim Reaper rocks, especially when he's drunk.

I love the Rama series, I've read through them 3 times I think. The second one is actually more movie-like, has more adventure, more characters and twists. The third book is more like a huge soap opera, you may not like it if you're not really into it by then. Four book is kind of like the third but get more back into the sci-finess of it.

Man you've missed out on the best one. There is a sequel to Ender's game. Actually there are 3. Speaker for the Dead is an AWESOME book. I liked it almost as much as Harry Potter. It gets a little more sci-fi but it is still really good. Its set later on but still about Ender.

Also there is a book called Shadow Puppets thats a sequel to Shadow of the Hegemon. Its less politics and I liked it better that Shadow of the Hegemon. Its about Bean and Petra.

If you like detective fiction, I would recommend any of the Elvis Cole mystery series, by Robert Crais. He's also written Demolition Angel and Hostage, books which come highly recommended (though I haven't had a chance to read them yet).
I would also recommend any book ever written by James Ellroy. He wrote L.A. Confidential, and has a large number of excellent books to his credit. I would especially recommend The Black Dahlia, Blood on the Moon, and White Jazz, but all of his books have amazing writing and stories.
Also, you can't go wrong with any book written by Walter Mosley, especially his Easy Rawlins mysteries. Terrific characters, great writing, and interesting social commentary (unique for the genre).
