Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo - Review Thread

Premise:
Deuce Bigalow is seduced back to his unlikely pleasure-for-pay profession, when his former pimp T.J. Hicks (Eddie Griffin) is implicated in the murders of Europe's greatest gigolos. Deuce must go back to work in order to clear his good friend's name. Along the way, he must compete against the powerful European Union of prosti-dudes and court another bevy of abnormal female clients including the beautiful Eva, who suffers from acute obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Release Date: August 12, 2005

Studio: Columbia Pictures

Starring: Rob Schneider, Eddie Griffin, Jeroen Krabbé, & Til Schweiger

Director: Mike Bigelow

Screenwriter: Rob Schneider, David Garrett, Jason Ward

MPAA Rating: R (for pervasive strong crude and sexual humor, language, nudity and drug content)

Official Website: http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/d...uropeangigolo/

my short review:
I was a huge fan of the first movie. This one...should of never been made. I was completely bored the first 30 minutes of the movie. The real funny scenes start when he becames a "man-whore" again but not even some of those jokes were that funny. Just wait for the DVD.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5

I loved the original, so I'll most likely check this one out.

Amazing how Rob Schneider is maintaining a career longer than most SNL crew.

Well, the sequel looks pretty awful.. but I'm not hesitant for cheap humor.

I think that's his buddy Adam Sandler's fault.

DID ANYONE SEE THIS FROM ROGER EBERT'S REVIEW??

The movie created a spot of controversy last February. According to a story by Larry Carroll of MTV News, Rob Schneider took offense when Patrick Goldstein of the Los Angeles Times listed this year's Best Picture Nominees and wrote that they were "ignored, unloved and turned down flat by most of the same studios that ... bankroll hundreds of sequels, including a follow-up to 'Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo,' a film that was sadly overlooked at Oscar time because apparently nobody had the foresight to invent a category for Best Running Penis Joke Delivered by a Third-Rate Comic."

Schneider retaliated by attacking Goldstein in full-page ads in Daily Variety and the Hollywood Reporter. In an open letter to Goldstein, Schneider wrote: "Well, Mr. Goldstein, I decided to do some research to find out what awards you have won. I went online and found that you have won nothing. Absolutely nothing. No journalistic awards of any kind ... Maybe you didn't win a Pulitzer Prize because they haven't invented a category for Best Third-Rate, Unfunny Pompous Reporter Who's Never Been Acknowledged by His Peers."

Reading this, I was about to observe that Schneider can dish it out but he can't take it. Then I found he's not so good at dishing it out, either. I went online and found that Patrick Goldstein has won a National Headliner Award, a Los Angeles Press Club Award, a RockCritics.com award, and the Publicists' Guild award for lifetime achievement.

Schneider was nominated for a 2000 Razzie Award for Worst Supporting Actor, but lost to Jar-Jar Binks.

But Schneider is correct, and Patrick Goldstein has not yet won a Pulitzer Prize. Therefore, Goldstein is not qualified to complain that Columbia financed "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo" while passing on the opportunity to participate in "Million Dollar Baby," "Ray," "The Aviator," "Sideways" and "Finding Neverland." As chance would have it, I have won the Pulitzer Prize, and so I am qualified. Speaking in my official capacity as a Pulitzer Prize winner,

Mr. Schneider, your movie sucks.

hahahahahahahahaahahaahahaa!!!!!!!!!

i snuck into this and saw about the first half hour and couldn't take it anymore. THERE WERE ACTUALLY PEOPLE LAUGHING DURING IT!!!! i couldn't believe it. this movie doesn't deserve a penny. the original had me laughing so hard, this one made me wanna throw a wet fish at the screen, something stinky that this film would know well.

I do like Rob Schneider a lot. I've enjoyed him in the majority of all his movies, and yes, I enjoyed the first Deuce Bigalow. That being said, I will never see this sequel in the theatre. The trailers made out one of the ,pdy horrific comedies of the year, at least as far as I could tell, taking all the things that made the first film kind of funny, and totally blew them out of proportion to get cheesy sympathy laughs. Not to mention when it's having to compete with a great, original comedy like 40 Year Old Virgin at the same time, the film overall is not only a bad attempt of writing and cash-cowing, but also really bad planning.

I really dont even understand how anyone would waste the time and the money on DEUCE BIGALOW: EUROPEAN GIGOLO. It is mind numbingly stupid.

Deuce Bigalow is definitely one of them movies that did not need a sequel. What a waste of time. Still I know I'll go and see it. I'll see it on cheap Super Tuesdays.

Looks terrible.. However I feel bad for Rob. I liked The Hot Chick. I thought he was hilarious in it. Also he was hilarious in Big Daddy and Waterboy. He's a funny guy, he just needs to get in some good movies.. Watching critics talk about him is like watching someone beat some kid up for lunch money. Its brutal.
