The more often you post, the more people get to know you and respect what you have to say. It's good you only post when you have something meaningful to say, but unless it's important, people may not pay attention because no one knows, and therefore doesn't care, who you are. I think in terms of the boards here, 'popularity' is a better term than rank.

As for the avatars, whoever gets it first should keep it, and if you 'took' that of someone else who was here with it before you, it's only the kind, respectful thing to do to find a new one.

NOW, LET'S GET BACK ON TOPIC... I'd like if someone posted the image from the DVD preview of Sam running up some stairs, and discussing whether or not the image appears to be of Cirith Ungol... As far as I've heard, it most likely is, but it'd be cool to see it on here as well... Something to talk about until the trailer comes out in a week or two...

Wow! I've managed to start an argument without even being here - must be some kind of record. :rolleyes:

As for the avatar, being that I actually created it myself in PSP, and also host it on my on webspace, it would be only courteous for the use to have asked first. Having said that, I doubt he/she would have realised that and it doesn't really matter. That said, I think everyone prefers to have a unique avatar, and it helps with identification of posts.


I think I have to agree with cbars on the other point Moose, and you can post a lot of irrelevant crap. But then you know my view on that. ;) :D

We do try to keep certain threads on specific themes together, but with lots of new members and threads being posted all the time, they often fall onto previous pages. There are some threads further back that are more 'pure' news.

There are a huge amount of forums/threads on the ComingSoon boards though, and with a limited number of mods it's impractical for them to spend their time just 'tidying up' threads all the time.

I think that might be a preview of a new ROTK poster that will be coming out. I know this is in some spanish magazine, but the color and style of it reminds of a ROTK postser rumor I heard. If the majority of the movie is revolving around Aragorn then it will not be to my taste. Aragorn has been featured in almost all of the 'official' publicity photos and there is a reason for that. Unfortunately, it could be perceived by some that when PJ claimed that ROTK would be about Frodo and Sam he was lying. :(

Aragorn is important, but I really hope that ROTK focuses on Frodo & Sam more than the others. They are the heart of the story, battles aren't.

Well it is called 'The Return of the King' so the movie posters are bound to feature him heavily to link in with the title, he also does play a huge part in ROTK. In the book Frodo and Sam actually have a very little to do in terms of what could be transferred onto screen, that's 1 of the reasons PJ moved all of the second part of book 4 into ROTK, to give them more screen time!

I'm certain from what I've seen and heard that Frodo and Sam will be at the heart of the story, both the emotional but also some of the key dramatic moments will come from their scenes.

You really shouldn't be so rash to judge such things on the basis of a publicity campaign. We've seen and heard very little of the Morannon and all the events following, yet that doesn't mean they are going to be given short shrift.

I really liked reading the parts in the books where the orcs talked with eachother... they were like a big group of thugs. I wish they spoke more to eachother in the movies. Hopefully Gorbag and Shagrat will be in it, the tower of cirith ungol, arguing over Frodo

Our store got those ROTK action figures. I just had to get Aragorn and Gollum. (There are two Gollums: one has a dopey face, and you push a button to make him say "Nicke hobbitses!" and "Good Smeagol!" The other one has an evil face and all he says "My Prrrrrrecccciouuuusssss!" I got the evil one!)

When it happened, it was simply a thread regarding details of what the special features were on the TT DVD, and regarding certain scenes.

I tend to agree with Fanible on this one, that's surely just a separate toy line and NOT the New Line/PJ LOTR Shelob. Just some separate toy line that's come out. It's nothing like any of the picture we've seen that we know Shelob is based on.

Exactly. It wouldn't make sense for all this talk about the spider they based it on and whatnot, then simply to come out with models that more resemble the old Hobbit cartoons and the spider resembles old book pictures.

And they especially wouldn't let a toy company let out models of the spider way before hand, when they've been keeping it so secret right now.

It has to be just a LOTR related toy or model line.

I guess I could understand that a little more. He is a big part of the movie, and it's hard to show any of the main parts with Sam and Frodo, when Gollum is essentially a main character along with them.

There aren't meant to be Oliphaunts at the Black Gates so I assume it's the aftermath of the BOTPF. Neither have their helmets on though, and Merry will surely have been taken off to the Houses of Healing by then. (We saw what is presumed the aftermath of the dernhelm/WiKi confronation in the ROTK preview on the TTT DVD).

Could be just Dom and Billy messing around, a publicity shot or something rather than actual film footage.

Ohhhhhhh i`m just getting sooooooo excited and thats just after seeing a few screen caps.
Personally I find the Arwen and Elrond one the most interesting as it looks similar to some Arwen stills we have seen b4 and i`m really curious as to what they will do with Arwen in ROTK.

The firs Legolas pic is him talking to Aragorn (he certainly looks a bit strange in that hooded cloak). It could be outside the POTD although the impression I got was that it was quite high, outside Minas Tirith before the last march on the Morannon.

The second pic is of Legolas scaling an Oliphaunt on the Pelennor Fields.
